She did very well. I was actually just muddling around this piece a little while ago before I came on YouTube. I've never bothered going much further than the first few measures or so, but now that I realize how pretty this piece is I'd love to learn it. What I like most about her playing is near the end, when the piece calls for pp and upper register notes, I think she does very well there. Nicely done.

Haha, I just turned 13 and I could play this mostly sight reading (4 years of flute)..... don't be so full of yourself when you aren't really the best. Everyone can improve! If you want compliments then stop trying to outshine the performer. and make your own videos!

Plus Dominique hadn't been playing awhile when she recorded this, yet it still is a delightful performance. At least she brings emotion in the piece!

Your tone is AMAZING. I had to play this solo this year and the only thing I can think of that was noticeable was dynamics and the runs around 1:27. The articulation wasn't very well defined, because of the alternating slurs and sticcatos. But other than that is was great, you're an amazing player :)

isn't this piece a low level piece? I remember playing in grade 2 or 4 (flute grade, not age grade) and your tone sounds like your in a much more higher level. When I played it back then, it sounded no where near as good so...maybe its the grading of the piece that is different but you did very, very well, you're tone is absoulutely gorgeous and the little girl is just adorable as accompianement. Plus, you're very pretty.

@xxcornycoryxx5 At the time of this recording, Dominique was using her very first flute, a Yamaha. Soon after, she switched to another Japanese brand, which she still uses up to now. She can definitely use a higher caliber flute, and is seeking a potential sponsorship, if you know of anyone...

I did this solo a couple of weeks ago and I got a First Superior on it. I was happy. ^-^ Last year I did Alegretto by Godard. I got a first superior on it too. It was a tough one. If you are looking for a challenge pick Allegretto and try to do it at the tempo written. Most teachers slow the tempo down because it's too difficult for most students.

Thank you for your encouraging comment. Dominique picked up the flute when she was 10. It was her choice for 2nd instrument (after 2 years of piano), and it came very naturally to her. Of course, flute is one of those physically limiting instruments (lung size and arm length), that make it difficult for anyone younger(smaller) than 10 to start and make fast progress. I am learning this song with my private teacher right now and thought that I should listen to how it sounds online. She sounds very beautiful at the flute. I cannot believe she is only 12! She sounds way better than I did when I was that old. Sure it was not too long ago, and I have probably been playing less than her, but still that doesn't take anything away from the beauty of her playing or the beauty of the piece.
