Rather than anti catholic they seem more pro Protestant, I personally don't understand why it's so popular in Scotland when Scotland is a Presbyterian (Calvinist) nation. I always thought the OO was more Anglican which is closer to catholicism.
The Catholic Church are the enemy but the Church of England/Ireland are just as bad, when the pope was in the UK he prayed with Anglican bishops in England, can you imagine him praying with Presbyterian ministers in Scotland? It just wouldn't happen.
Anglicanism and Catholicism are much closer than Anglicanism and Presbyterianism, that's why Anglicanism is regarded as being separate from Protestantism.
@ProtestantThomas It was said here a few centuries ago by the Scots that all the English did was swap their pope for the King, so they are actually just Catholics without a Pope.
The English flag is a symbol of Catholicism, founded by a medieval Islamist from Turkey I think.
That means that only Scotland is truly Protestant. The Scottish flag is a pure symbol of it.
@segano1 OOH, is this just you guessing or is this the proper reason why i see scotland flags on the Belfast murals and not the england flag? i always assumed the prods in NI were anti-english just because the scots are

From a total neutral perspective (English) I fail to see how this can be labeled as bigotry, it seems to be the celebration of your culture, the Scottish/Ulster-Scots Calvinist people have probably achieved more than any other people except for the Anglo-Saxons.
Everyone has a right to be proud of their culture.
@LordEnglishPatriot The thing is with the Orange Order, they celebrate religious freedom, yet exclude all non protestants. They celebrate Victory over Catholics when in actual fact, there were thousands of Catholics in Williams army and William had the support of the pope. By all means celebrate, but they should have a more open door policy to truly represent religious liberty and to all those who wish to celebrate this victory and who support the Union.
@LordEnglishPatriot Well of course it is both. The problem with them saying they represent religious liberty is a bit of a contradiction when they refuse to admit those of other religions.
@islandretreat Your comments show how little you really know about the Orange Order, the Masonic Order & the Royal Arch Purple Order. All three are completely different Orders in their own right, duh.
This is like having a parade against black people. This is sick!

I know Scotland and England had arguments over their different versions of Protestantism, but all Protestants should unite against catholicism.

@purplesprig, The Jesuits control the Masonic Orange Order through the Royal Arch Purple Degree. I very much doubt that God gives it His blessing.
