It looks like Sam's contact at the beginning became Lucius Galliard in the final game. And Sam mentions Reed during the cutscene (when the presenter wasn't talking over it), which makes me wonder if the story was the same in the earlier version.

@wiseguyprdx This was going to be the ORIGINAL Conviction but was redesigned after people saying it was to similar to Assassins Creed its not fake. Personally I love this version (it was free roaming like GTA) but they got rid of it and made it crap.

Thank the video game gods that they never came out with this version. The game programmer explaining how the game works even seems embarrassed. There was pretty much no stealth in this one. And I mean come on... you can pick up anything in the game and throw it at people to knock them out? Lame. So glad that they realized this was terrible.

Part 2: It has the stealth vibe you'd expect and want to see in a Splinter Cell game and it has controls and mechanics that remind me of Batman Arkham Asylum (which was one of the greatest games of last year IMHO). A lot of true/diehard Splinter Cell fans were let down with Double Agent (I personally liked it a lot) I think that they're gonna be extremely satisfied with this one. Again, thank God they changed it, it looks like they completely dropped this version and started from scratch!

Part 1: Man I remember 2 years ago when they released a trailer with this version of the game and i was so disappointed it basically looks like free world gameplay with horrible graphics -- kind of like Grand Theft Auto, just running around out in the open -- no real stealth involved. At most maybe comparable to a Hitman game. I don't know what they were thinking! I'm so glad Ubisoft changed it and did a 180 with the game because the way it looks now is AMAZING!

This whole concept was shit. The diversion was pointless and if anything, just shows how bad the AI was. The guard was literally 4 feet away as Sam took the laptop and dropped it, yet he didn't even bother to follow him. I can see the idea they had, but it didn't look like they were able to really make it work. On the flip side, I'm loving what Conviction looks like now. :-)
