I read years ago that this song was in response to the Beach Boys and California Girls. Actually The Beatles were fans of their sound and wanted to pay tribute to them and thus Back In The U.S.S.R. It sure sounds like the Beatles imitating the Beach boys.

@john26660 Yeah. He only played drums because Ringo Starr left the band when they recorded this song at first. John and George both played drums also but in the end they decided to go with Paul's.
You are correct, Ringo got tired of always being the one sitting around. However they each didn't play drums all the way through. Aug. 22, 1968 they laid down the first take and it was Paul on drums, George guitar, and John bass. Other drums were added by the others as Paul played different instruments on the track. So actually all the guys had drum parts!
@john26660 becuase Ringo had walked out- it was during the time the Beatles were not getting along very well...although Ringo was the only 1 the other 3 always got along with- and still do.

That drummer was simply rockin the hell out of that kit. He gived quite a performance as a drummer. He took the songs drum fills and made them even better(: Paul is lucky to have him(:

not the same without george, john and ringo. people may have wished they would have never broke up, but honestly, would they be as popular as they are today if they didn't? i don't think so, they left in their prime they didn't have time to go down any if u know what i mean.

@KillswitchJohn I agree, if I will say that they are argueably the only band ever to not have a bad year. They also didnt sell out. They wrote any music they liked, and it was always amazing. I feel like it sealed their legacy, but they still had lots and lots of amazing stuff in them, which is the sad part.

I read years ago that this song was in response to the Beach Boys and California Girls. Actually The Beatles were fans of their sound and wanted to pay tribute to them and thus Back In The U.S.S.R. It sure sounds like the Beatles imitating the Beach boys.

@k1171502 Paul is alive- there never was a fake Paul taking over- Paul just isn't that young anymore- he's age 71- it's harder to move around and be as fllexible at that age- plus, Paul is a musician- his music is what matters- not his dance moves. his performance of "Sing The Changes" during this concert was very energetic in fact.

@john26660 Yeah. He only played drums because Ringo Starr left the band when they recorded this song at first. John and George both played drums also but in the end they decided to go with Paul's.

You are correct, Ringo got tired of always being the one sitting around. However they each didn't play drums all the way through. Aug. 22, 1968 they laid down the first take and it was Paul on drums, George guitar, and John bass. Other drums were added by the others as Paul played different instruments on the track. So actually all the guys had drum parts!

The Fab Faux, Beatles Tribute Band, sound better now than Mecca does. I recently seen them rip through The White Album in Chicago.
All I can say is that it was an amazing concert, and I'm not even a fan of Tribute Bands.
Mecca should think of hiring them guys as a backing band they are THAT good.

The man is 67 here and still rocks. I saw him and this band in concert and they were amazing. Youtube doesn't do them justice.

I agree- tributes are a nice idea- it shows people love the music- but they can never compare to the original musicians and bands- Paul is still as good as ever- but his band just isn't the same.
