very nice project.. pretty smart man.. i just finished my graduation project presentation today.. will upload it soon and share it with ya ... Egyptian engineer here :D and i agree engineering is a lifestyle :D
Now, if you can make detail drawings(don't forget tolerances), assembly drawings and bill of material with price list you are in business. Hit your computer geek friends to get you a student version of cad/solid modeling program. You will have a nice project to present for your next interview. If you can get actual quotations, typed up a "engineering change notice" and find a customer to buy then you don't even need a BSME.
Need help! I'm going back to school and I love mechanical engineering. I'm bad at math tho. How can I conquer my math fear? I know engineering is all math and my friend scared me when he said thermal physics would kill me. Is that true. I'm very mechanical and have done and finished many mechanical projects,R&D and fabrication but they usually do not involve extensive math. I know many will tell me to pursue my dream but tell me the truth, Is the math super hard?
Yo dude, I'm a fourth year engineering student. There is alot of math, but if you work at it and work with fellow students and use all your resources at your school whether it is tutors or office hours you can get through it. Just keep plucking away at it, hope that helps.
I already started thanx. Math is not as bad as I thought. I guess I made myself look a little rustic in my math skills but it all came back. I actually found it easier than most people in class. I often find myself leading the lab for my group as I have R&D experience and fabrication. All that helped. It's thermals that might give me a run for my money but it's doable. Thanx.
You learn about formulas which have been derived in the past and put them into practice. You learn about how the world works, with a specific focus on mechanical things. The math is difficult and you need to do the homework to keep up. As far as how it works, you are usually given enough information to apply existing formulas to minimize an undesirable variable such as stress, pressure, force, wear, cost, etc. or maximize a desirable variable such as speed, lifespan, efficiency, etc.
First of all I ain't that good at it, second of all I am doing the course in Norwegian, which sometimes I all the explanations passes away like nothing so.... BTW how many hours you are Focused studying maths and only maths ?? p/day ?
If you're in highschool and don't care about math, that's no problem, I was the same way. You will need to start caring if you study engineering though. You should at least find math interesting, like geometry and stuff, if you want to be a mechanical engineer. Otherwise I believe you will be miserable. During some semesters I focused on math an average of 1 hour a day, 7 days a week, so 7 hours a week total. That was 2 semesters. Other classes which use math mostly use algebra and geom.
Well done great project. I thought the design was great. If possible could you send me the plans as I have to design and manufacture a table tennis ball shooter for my school project. Thanks I would really appreciate it
what a boring video

At first I thought it was Rube Goldberg type, but I was wrong.

I really hope I enjoy mech engineering next year. Stuff like this really excites me and I can't wait to apply it to real world scenarios!

engineering isn't a major, it's a lifestyle
you have to adjust your time schedule to allow for many hours studying math and math intensive courses.

Hey Jason ...
could you tell me a little more about mechanical engineering ?
Is it really full of maths and stuff ?
I mean... or you are based on some math terms where you put the number by yourself
how it works ?
thank you
