No need to troll out the comments. The world will not end if you choose Honeycomb or iOS, trust me. If you like the Xoom, awesome -- if you like the iPad 2, congrats. Use what you like and enjoy it. Why is always Android die-hard fans who leave such viscous words?
I have both the Ipad2 and an Acer Iconia android 3 tablet. Sorry to tell you but in ease of use, reliability, sturdiness, video quality, battery life the Ipad does not even come close to my droid tab :P But hey, apple lovers: there are way more "apps" like paper toss for the pad :) so be happy :)
Are you retarded????? In every step the Motorola matches or beats the Ipad and you still pick the Ipad 2. Multitasking is faster but in your opinion because the ipad 2 masks it's slowness with sequencing, ipad wins. The crowning piece is when you say that ipad wins the video contest because of ease of use, BECAUSE IT HAS NO CONTROLS OR OPTIONS, add to that apple's mistery camera. Why don't you just admit it that you are an apple mind-slave lol. Looser.
@SoftPaws473 LOL, don't let these cult zombies upset you. Apple fanboys now have begun to get clever with these FAKE attempts at objectivity. This guy did a poor job at hiding his apple erection. Clearly this guy is an apple fanboy. Frankly, if you've already made up your mind that one thing is better than another, you can make almost anything look than anything else. This review is a complete FAIL. I don't know which is better, but I KNOW I can't trust this reviewer.
The xoom is a great device, the only problem is lack of app support for Honeycomb but overall pretty good device, and tegra 3 will debut next year sweet
@sunnyadams1 Realistically the principal differentiator between a tablet and smartphone (other than screen size) is going to come down to apps. It's not the Xoom's fault developers haven't embraced Honeycomb immediately -- in time, they will. Plenty of potential, but just like Android when it launched on the G1 it needs a year.
@UnlimitedProdiction1 Both tablets seem like larger version of their respective smartphones at first glance. But to be honest, the Apps are what makes a tablet different than a phone. Currently, there's a very small number of Apps available on Honeycomb. In time that will certainly change, but for for the moment most of the apps you'll be running on the Xoom will just be enlarged versions of the smartphone app.
oh okay. Did you true the honeycomb 3.1 yet? From the video's I've seen honeycomb looks like a lot of fun to play around with and I heard the upgrade makes things run a little smoother.
I think I can live with the apps for now because I'm pretty sure the android devices were like that when first released (never owned and android OS phone), and I just want a well built quality product that's most important to me.
@UnlimitedProdiction1 It is certainly fun and an authentic tablet OS. Also, the Xoom is upgraded to Android 3.1 in this video. Both the Xoom and iPad 2 are well built products. In terms of form factor the iPad 2 is an engineering marvel, regardless of your opinions of Apple as a company. The upcoming Galaxy Tab 10.1 might be thinner, but materials alone -- Apple would win. With that being said I'd still feel more comfortable dropping the Xoom over the iPad 2.
I have both of these tablets and the Motorola Xoom hardly ever comes out of the box. If you compare apps like for like (i.e. Pinball HD, Angry Birds) etc. you will notice the iPad's versions are at much higher frame rates and overall smoother.
Honeycomb is bug ridden at present and you can't use any application for any period of time before it crashes, especially the web browser.
And what about the SD card slot, does it work in the latest 3.1 release? (I think not)
@pacomacman good point, the plastic insert in the memory card slot (until the 4G LTE) upgrade seems odd. Why does the device need to be upgraded to 4G LTE just to use the SD slot? Weird.
I'm not really an Apple fanatic, but I can't really see how the conclusion by certain viewers of this video is that Android is either better or the way to go... It's a (close) win for Apple.
Maybe in a year Xoom will be better. But what makes a device are the apps, and Android market just isn't the place to go for developers...
@keithvassallo I agree with everything you've said. I get asked on a daily basis 'when are you going to port your apps to Android', and as a developer I have to tell them its unlikely to happen. You can't shift enough apps on Android to make a living, especially at $0.99 per copy, or worse for in app advertising. People need to realise that developers need to make a living, and can't deliver top quality software for free. This is in part Apples fault, but it seems to be catching!
Why is everyone always acting like Android is new the shit came out 6 months after the iPhone, stop making excuses the thing sucks because they don't know what the hell they are doing they are too busy trying to cram their devices with as many worthless things as possible to stretch their spec list to make up for the lack of support, functionality, and apps. These things are made to be multimedia devices not computer replacements. And Android consistantly fails at media.

Do you think multigesture finger swiping with the iPad 2 is better than Android Honeycomb 3.2?

Display: iPad 2
Multitasking: Xoom (for looks, not speed)
Battery: iPad 2 (by default)
Applications: iPad 2 (except phone apps)
Camera: Xoom (configured properly)
