Telemarketers are bottom of the barrel workers. Anyone that can't get a decent jon becomes a telemarketer. You see a lot of drug users, ex cons, people with bad credit, and so on.
At the same time, they're not as stupid as they seem. The reason they keep trying to sell even when it's obvious that there is no sale is because they're told to do so.
