Got mine 2 weeks ago and it didn't hurt at ALL even if it was my first piercing and I was fucking scared! :D Gonna get the next one as soon as possible! :)
Of all the piercings I've seen and studied this one "looks" the most painful. This could just be becuase of the blood, what do you all think. I'm an aspiring piercer and I need all the knowledge I can soak up before my apprentiship!
Very nice. I love the idea of getting some in a constellation. That's odd that they migrated out. I have one on my forehead, just above and to the left of my eyebrow. I bumped it like mad the first few weeks I had it, but it healed just fine. I just got another on my wrist today, so hopefully that one stays in :3 I'd hate for that one to reject or migrate.
i;m sixteen, getting two dermals soon on my cleavage, just researching them. how long did yours take to migrate out? and did you just take them out or go back to the peircing place?
@cherryXXwhore You're just lucky that you found a legit piercer to do them on a 16 year old. I was under the impression that they were 18+ piercings because they are considered to be implants.
i loved getting my dermal done, i got one done on my chest and it looks amazing but i only paid 60 bucks for it i need to get more there addicting.. and what is the song on this video i dig it
great video, i really want to get 2 on my stomach, i did hours of research for the past two days to see if this was right for me and i've decided to get it, now i just gotta figure out where and how much haha. thanks for the video
Luckily, my girlfriend is a physician and did it for free. Just had to pay for the jewelry. Looks great. I am going to place my first one today on my friend.
Good video and good technique,
I think here in Florida the price is about 65.00 usd. Not too many places actually do them though and someone told me that only a physician can do them in florida legally? Not sure if that is true.
It's interesting to see that they used a skin biopsy punch. I had mine done last Thursday and my artist used a piercing needle. And the price has come way down. I paid 160 Euro for 3, a little over $200. If anyone has video using a piercing needle please let me know. I had mine done on my back, so I wasn't able to see it done.
I thought these had a pretty low rejection rate... That's one of the reasons they're favored over surface piercings.
I am getting one done tomorrow on my sternum; which I had a surface piercing there twice, with problems, so I'm hoping this dermal anchor works out! haha I'll post a video of it too! lol
Ive got one done on my wrist, there not really painfull but when the diamond gets screwed in it kinda hurts, and if you touch oit afterwards its painfully, you can also get it surgecally removed or the diamond changed but i think that would be too sore. Dont get them people! i got it done because its unique! lol
Too sad that your body rejected the anchors, they looked relly good! Very nice concept. I'm thinking about getting one or two of these on my hands; do you think it's possible or that is is ,just as you say, too much "movement" in the area too keep them from healing?
I think they would have left a scar yes but somewhat smaller than what they have now.
All of them rejected to some point or another.
The final one I pulled out since there was no point keeping it in and it was the only one to have connective tissue growing through the foot.
I don't think having them removed would result in too much scaring as they only have a small footprint and any connective tissue I would imagine would only require the smallest of cutting. Still ask your piercer for sure:)
Hey, I want of get an arrow shape done on my chest but am kinda worried cuz I keep hearing that its permanent and that you have to get them surgically removed? You said that yours migrated out after 8 months? What did it leave for scarring? Did they move around at all in the 8 months?
Have a bit of a look at the jewelry that is used and you will see that have holes in the feet. This is to create an anchor point once the connective tissue under the skin grows through it. If they heal well and as it is intended they will need to be cut out. As far as scarring I wanted something left over once they had rejected so I kept the holes open by promoting them to bleed on a daily basis. I now have small scars at each point where there was an anchor.
I can only say based on my experience and research. Check BME for more info.
Yes the moved around quite a bit and due to sport a few of them were pulled out and I had to push them back in. So their life was not simple.
often I could feel they had twisted and the foot was not in the right position. I was able to turn them back to their right orientation but obviously this impeded healing a great deal.
With the majority of surface work you are always looking at a fairly high risk of rejection.
Unfortunately these all rejected in a little over 8 months.
There was simply too much movement in that area and my leather motorbike jacket used to irritate the area (I ride often and this had an obvious impact on the work )
I disagree. Like you said the high movement area and jacket caused your to reject. I have one on each side of my neck (low movement, no clothing to interfere) and they are doing great (they are about 6-7 months old now)
Micros have less chance of rejecting than a surface piercing though.
I've just replied re the pain thing a little further up. When I got these the cost was fairly high and it was around the $600 mark. I believe the cost of the jewelry has come down quite a bit with various producers jumping in on the action.

Looks great! That is really creative use of microdermals. It would look awesome with little diamond-set balls so the stars twinkle just like the real thing ;o)
Depends on what you're used to JA. I have quite a few other piercings and all things considered this is probably one of the easiest processes to sit or lay through. They do take some special care to maintain once in for a few months and are surprisinly easy to catch on things. So keep that in mind when you consider placemen. Good luck

I'd like to think I took good care of them even though they migrated out.
Kept them bandaged/covered for a few months and longer when playing sport.

But isn't this dangerous if you need to be 'shocked' back to life?
And in surgery wouldn't you have to have them removed?

Can't live your life on what ifs.
I've also had surgery just after getting new work and they simply placed tape over them.
Depends on the nature of the surgery I guess.

I'm thinking of doing this....was it painful?
alice4x5 2 years ago
How long is a piece of string Alice :)
it all depends on you really.
For me personally I would say it was more of an annoying sensation than a painful one.
That said the most annoying part of it was when the hair on my chest was pulled when the tops went on. I don't think you will have that problem :)
Besides I'm sure you have kicked your toe and that hurts a lot more than getting this done.
You survived that didn't you ?

TofuCi 3 years ago
It's all relative but I would have to say these were some of the least painful items I've had done.
More uncomfortable or annoying than any real pain.
It actually hurt more when the tops were being screwed in and pulled the hair on my chest :)
If pain is your only concern then get it done.
You will wonder why you waited so long ......
DENMONKEY 3 years ago

are they supposed to reject?
lilmizslani 3 years ago
Did I want them to reject ? No.
There was always the possibility of it though and I was aware of it.
I was still disappointed when they did.
Any piercing has some risk that this may happen but it can be lessened by good placement and the correct techniques originally.
However there are many other factors with rejections and sometimes it is just luck of the draw.
Surface work is notorious for being hard to keep long term and for the most part should probably not be viewed as permanent :(
DENMONKEY 3 years ago
i still want one. [sigh] i think i will just try my luck anyway. =/ sorry they didnt work out for you.
lilmizslani 3 years ago
Don't be sorry :) I enjoyed them whilst I had them.
I wouldn't want anyone to be put of by mine rejecting.
Simply use my experience to make an informed decision which ever way you go.
Hopefully the will work out for you.
Good luck
