Magnificent. Though I honestly believe that the choir just doesn't suit every song, or maybe the arrangements. I'm not sure. As for the comments about her 'slightly' changed voice, I believe she had a recent surgery and she wasn't sure she could ever sing again. So let's be thankful.
@HanyMust she had/has candidiasis and it affected her voice. she almost lost her singing voice for good. so, yes, let's be freaking thankful we didn't lose one of the most beautiful and poweful voices of the last century. (yes, I'm a hardcore Björk fan)
You have to dig. Check out: The Grouch, J.Viewz, RJD2, Team Sleep, Atmosphere... just to name a few. There's a lot of amazing stuff. Stop listening to the radio and do some research. ;)
please come to the U.S.A. even though music here sux. why do people here in the states listen to Crap, thats rap that sux,we dont have festivles here like glastonbury in the UK.we have nothing going on.just american idol? what bullskavits is that? please tour here
@solstelano Indeed she did implement some Biophilia sounds to this song. She has said in one interview that she allways rearange songs, so they would match the current style of album she's promoting.
It's probably most obvious in Hyper-ballad. Just listen to the performances from Volta shows and compare it to the original (also, compare it to other live version from different eras). :)
And yea, I agree, the performance sounds beyond wonderful. That choir is magnificent. :)
@Tyzz I bet that the experience to see Bjork singing live, is better while being drunk, or even high even though you can't remember it after the show!! haha, just kidding!
@ultrastop If the whole "Vegas" thing wasn't so degrading and indicitave of a washed-up, nearly bankrupt artist, I'd totally support a Bjork Vegas show a la Celine Dion. I'd probably up and move to Vegas, in such an instance.
@saintgomez69 Agreed. I saw her on the Volta tour in Atlanta and it was the best show I've seen to date. And I've seen Paul McCartney live, so that's something!
Her performance of "Hyper-Ballad" was just amazing. I've never felt that kind of joy before, or since.
I saw Bjork and the choir in Manchester in July and saw the choir on their own in Salford the following week. Thanks for filming this as I would have loved to go and see/hear Bjork again. A genius composer/arranger/singer and a true innovator!
the problem with this version of Hyperballad is that she's not using any of the Biophilia instruments... only the drumer and the choir are there and the rest are syntethizers which sound like the album...
@reinvented0 Valid point, but how many artists reinvent their hit songs for every single tour? Björk has a pretty good record in that regard, I can cut her some slack.
@reinvented0 Aside from the Gameleste in the beginning that everybody has already mentioned, she seems to have re-invented a few of her songs for these sorts of performances. There's the hang-drum (or whatever) in 'One Day', that was a great idea! And choirs in 'Isobel'. And am I the only one who noticed that the beats in 'Hidden Place' are a brought forward a bit? Also, the choirs in Jóga are amazing, maybe better than the studio version. Not BIG changes, but enjoyable, none-the-less :)

Bjork was the reason for my travel to Bestival, however I drank more than I should have and can't remember this experience as much as I wish.
Thank you for capturing this. Atleast I know I was there!

lefilsduboucher 5 months ago
I can assure you that she wasn't tired at all ! I was there !!!
But as dokbrian said, this song is so hard, and when she sings with this broken voice, she's even greatest.
On Voltaic video, her voice sounds the same on that song, maybe she likes to take this more fragile voice on Hyperballad.
lefilsduboucher 5 months ago
she does sound tired here. but this is a very hard song to sing. every time i sing this song, all my neck arteries strain and pop.
