This is not supposed to be a 'How To' video - there are plenty of those on Youtube - but to show you that even people who are not experienced in electronics managed to fix their DVD recorder. By the way, it is still working over a year later.
I've never seen a replacement capacitor replaced like THAT!
Your supposed to unsolder it from the other side NOT cut the leggs OFF.
Also make sure the polarity is the same as most have a + and -that you must get the right way round .The negative side is usually highlighted on the cap by a light coloured strip and a white dot or shaded area on the circuit board.
Brilliant!! I was going to bin mine, but if a girlie can do it, I'm prepared to give it my best shot. (Only joking about the 'girlie' thing, you sound a damn sight more competent than me).
This is great, it's the first time I've ever heard of one of these being fixed. I had an ES-15 that might have had the same problem, but I never looked under the drive. Maybe the clowns Panasonic's "customer care" center should have a look at this video.
where did you buy the capacitor from ?

Take note prospective 'do it yourselfers'!
It could go badly wrong.
