  • Amazing!

  • ohh 240p how ive missed you.

  • Landing in Male HD,AIR TAXI +++ + video

  • That was a nice landing

  • C'est un Twin Otter. It is a twin Otter, from the same family of the old Beaver and old single otters with radial motors. This twin is turbine, of course.

    Not many on floats.

  • wow cool

  • Its the old venerable DeHaviland DH6 Twin Otter, now again being built in Calgary Alberta by Viking Air. They bought the plans, rights and certificates required to put them back into production. It is more correctly referred to as a "Float Plane"

  • Wow...the twin otter is such a versatile airplane! I use to work for Precison Airlines and we had 5 of them. I loved the engine sound and the smell of that Jet A..lol. I'm happy they're still flying around the world.

  • Wow, that was a thing of beauty!

  • Sea? Flat as a mill pond...EASY!

  • A seaplane has a boat hull. A float plane has "floats"

  • Not strictly correct. All planes that can land on water are seaplanes. Those that use the fuselage "boat hull" as the main boyancepart of which actually enters the water are know as flying boats. All seaplanes that use two floats as their primary flotation are, as you say float planes. Two examples of flying boats were the Boeing 314 from the 1930's known as the Clipper FB and a smaller scale the Lake renegade, and buccaneer. Hope this helps.

  • seaplanes don't land they alight!!!

  • seaplanes don't land they alight! That's the correct term!

  • the good old Maldivian Air Taxi...

I love the pilots flying with bare feet! :-)

  • A twin otter, they fly from the Harbour here to Vancouver.

  • Amazing!

What a dream job this would be after I retire.

  • That was true Finesse.

  • This is so cool

  • That is a DHC-6 DeHavilland (Canada), twin turbo props. This is often known as a twin otter. A fabulous plane to fly, still in service around the world. A firm in Alberta has bought the rites to re-produce the twin otter... they are producing the plane from old drawings and from parts from a torn down dhc-6.

  • Twotters rule.

  • @rimbaldcatt agreed

  • They're only dangerous if you have someone who doesn't know how to fly one at the yoke.

  • @Apollo580 or if they leave the landing gear down, did you see that video?

  • @Jimbobthebarbarian Yeah I did. That was hard to watch.

  • cars are way more dangerous than airplanes fool!

  • per mile traveled, cars are much more deadly/dangerous than planes. compare the number of fatal car accidents to fatal aeronautics accidents.

  • no it is not

  • What an awesome job! I know some commercial pilot wannabe's insist they will only fly for Delta or British Airways but honestly, until you get that "dream" job this would do just nicely.

  • That is a -300 series DHC-6 twin otter. That video is from the Maldives.. doesn't look like the lagoon at Hulule airport in male. Probably at one of the resorts.

I worked and flew twin otters there for 3 years and it was the most fun you can have with your pants on!

for the poster who asked what the best float plane for rough conditions is... i would bet many would say this airplane.. they used to have caravans down there but the rough water took its toll.

  • so, you were one of those guys who flown those airplanes barefoot. I flew twice on MAT and was an amazing expirence. But that twin hotter look new.. the tail number was 8Q-MA(X) something else, that one is 8Q-O(XX)

  • @ajroberts66 It's not a 300 series. QHC is a 100 series, sn21

  • they slow to a full stop very quickly.

    i love the landing.

    nice vid;) 5*

  • GET LOST MICHEALYOUNG10ROCK

  • nice landing, sweet plane.

  • is there anybody know whats the best seaplane for the rugh sea oprations?

  • that is correct required maintenance is done in calgary and in the maldives for the

aircraft in fact i am just finishing up one of the twin otters this upcoming week and that would be a yes i do work at borek

  • mm thank god for corrosion and that mat lease those planes from Kenn borek :) job security for me

  • They come back to Kenn Borek Air in Calgary for required maintenance. Corrosion is a big factor. Do you work for KBA?

  • It's a deHavilland DHC-6 Twin Otter. Canada uses them to fight forest fires on amphibious floats that pick up the water.

  • Yes - they said they use those planes a lot in Canada as well. I gather they have a great track record in the Maldives in terms of safety and reliability. Flying in them was great fun.

  • thats a greaser of a landing , don't know who landed that but bullseye dude.

  • Hi, does anybody here have Flight Simulator X? I'm dying for a DH6 float for my system! Thanks!

  • It is a DH6 - although I can't be more specific than that.

I'm sure it is a float plane rather than a seaplane - but everyone calls it a seaplane all the same, owing to it being a plane that lands on the sea.

  • Do you know if there are any airports near where that plane landed?

  • I live in Maldives. Theres Male International Airport

  • @DanielJOwen Its actually a DHC-6 Twin Otter. They were originally built in Canada. Originally on wheels, but float kit developed later for use on lakes in northern Canada.

  • What kind of plane is that? A DH6?

  • DH6 is correct, Im guessing 300 series by looking at MAT's current fleet, theyve got 15 of them

  • That`s a 100 series twin otter.

  • ah, ok. my mistake

  • thats a float plane, a seaplane has a big hull like a ship

  • What kind of plane is that? A DH6?

  • Yep, good eye. Good ole De Havilland Canada. Its operated by Maldivian Air Taxi, the only ships they use are the DH6 100, 200, and 300 Twin Otter Series
