    increible!

    un genio un album unico

    OAR

  • I wish Skip had released more solo albums...this is what music should be.

  • Skip Spence songs are the only songs I can sing without croaking.

  • So this is where Radiohead found their sound. huh.

  • @winkydee I was going to say, this immediately reminded me of Radiohead.

  • Awesome track, Beck would sell his left arm to make something like that. Somehow never heard of this record before... So, the ending riff around 3:30 or so, is that a Cream reference or did he get ripped off?

  • @Hazeon23 Fuck that little maggot beck,i hope he gets aids from tom cruise, skip on the other hand is genius, please never put those to names together again.

  • @qsergyuko what's your deal with Beck? the guy's a breath of fresh air in an age full of absolute shit music. he certainly helps fills the void that was left after albums like this one ceased to be made. but this album really is amazing.

  • This is musical freedom: Light on formula, full on substance.

  • who killed sgt pepper?

  • He played every instrument on this album.

  • Just awesome.

  • Great song from a man who was a real artist. Oar is incredable but not for everyone, which is fair enough. Just the fact that it got made which would never happen today on a major label shows how shit todays culture is. The fact that it was made even then is amazing in itsself. Skip knew how to write a song and perform it with feeling. Im glad he lived long enough to know how much people loved this LP. I got this on CD in 97 and more people are getting into Oar by the year. Skip, I salute you.

  • It was released on Sundazed records, I believe, which was an underground label. So, yes, this would never be released on a major label today, but it wouldn't back then, either.

  • @438MillionBC Check you facts before you write or better yet do you're own research.

  • @438MillionBC Do some research on the net about the history of this album and then get back to me will you?

  • @edgarholland No, I'd rather you just fuck off.

  • @438MillionBC What a clever boy!

  • @438MillionBC You are wrong, go do some research.

  • @438MillionBC You are wrong, go do some research.

  • @438MillionBC It was originally issued by Columbia - a miracle, really. Reissued by Sony - 80s? Then Sundazed released the tribute album - "More Oar" and at about the same time, did their own reissue of the original. (Which is MUCH better than the Sony reissue.;)

  • This is making love music. So perfect and a voice like the mona lisa. I adore this.

  • sounds like radiohead

  • Superb! I love this!

  • My favorite song on OAR. I'm glad Skip lived long enough to be recognized as the singular genius he was.

  • 'Oar' is the American 'Madcap laughs' by Syd Barret.I don't intend to romanticise mental disorder, but these two souls went places very few people have ventured to.Genius.

  • @Flowmotion1000 You're 100% right, of course. What I want to know is why someone from JA and someone from PF didn't arrange to get Barrett and Spence working together in the studio. Bands were communicative with each other back then. Could you imagine, say, Gilmour and Kantner arranging such a thing? Could ANYONE imagine the result?

  • @elephantrange Putting 2 severely mental ill men in the same room can be a bloody mess haha.

  • @Flowmotion1000 Spence is/was Canadian! We Canadians prefer to see the difference!!

  • Fantastic track.

  • This is a great track IMO,great guitar tone

  • birds birds fly

  • I found Moby Grape because i just looking for Moby, and i laughf of them but when my curiosity grow up, and discovered to Mr Skip Spencer, wooooooow, he was great.............

  • this is my uncle Skippy! and I miss him!

  • Is he really your uncle??????

  • Yes he is.

  • WoW i can't believe it!!!!!!! It's an honor to meet you!!!! I love TAKES OFF by Jefferson Airplane with Skip, i like Moby Grape and Oar also!!! And i also love Skip, though his story is rather sad!!

A Genius as far as I'm concerned!!!!!!!

  • @Thomaspwgy yeah man !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanx for your kind wordsThomaspwgy and eveyone else. Being the age that I am I didn't know him before he made OAR, but he was the kindest, gentlest man you would ever meet. I miss him....

  • You must be Omar's cousin.

  • yep.

  • Oar is a patchy and fragmented album to say the least, but this is one of the standout cuts. A hazy, frazzled wonder of a track.

  • i love this ablum, i just happen to come on to this by accident, oh sweet love!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i forgot how good this is, must buy it tommorrow

  • he is a hero's hero!!

  • The final part of music is "Sunshine of Love by Cream"? Pretty Clever?Freak? I don´t know.

  • This song is just haunting.

  • What is so bad about this song?

  • ok.... i like it, you win

  • i feel like if were smoking some hard shit when first listen to this man cool

  • Skip will always be the Master!!

  • groovy...

  • Atmospheric.

  • this is my favorite from oar

  • This is one of my favs of al time..pure genius

  • This is definitely influenced by LSD.

  • All of us who knew Skippy on the streets around San Jose know damned well that ol' Skip is in a better place now. Rest peacefully you old fool, you really had us there, sorry we didn't believe who you were! May that broken unstrung guitar of yours return back to the earth in Guadalupe Creek!

  • @wfd57fatman I wouldn't want to return to San Jose now...it sucks

  • the riff at the end of the song is from 'sunshine of your love' by cream but this is better

  • thank you, very superb sounding skip.

    tripped out timeless honey....

    i love this great album.

thank you soooo much upload this gem.

if you wanna hear more sounds like this ,please contact my video site , got a few similar smoothers.

    thanks

  • Thank you for posting this...it's difficult to find....and a startling glimpse into the traumatized/brilliant mind of this sadly departed musician.

    evan

  • Nice little song...Sounds like British progressive stuff from the 70's - maybe Gong. I like the Iron Butterfly riff at the end.

  • R.I.P. SKIP
