@jwaters19 In the north there wasn't segregation by law as in the south, but if you went to the wrong neighborhood you did so at considerable peril. If the Itallians here ever rode bikes in the black neighborhooed they would have been stabbed or worse. Even in the early 1980s Chinese didn't cross Canal St into Little Italy and no Itallian would go into a neighborhood of "slants." Just the way it was.
