My friend sings and can do some rap, and I'm into dubstep/electro like Skrillex and I'm really wanting to learn how to make music like that. Part of my current problem is I don't know how to make a build up, drops, ect. And I know how to do the vocal clipping, but I need to know how he does the effects on the vocals and makes them all harmonized.

how do you get your screen to look like that? with the controllers on the right, and the edit mode on the left? i just got reason so im still trying to figure it out.

@furvert101 at the top, go to window, and hit Detach Sequencer Window or something to that effect. The right side on this video is the instrument rack and the left side is the "sequencer" window, which is where you put the song together. Since you just started Reason, I suggest checking out "LuckyDate" and "boyinaband" on youtube, they both have excellent tuts to help you get started =) Boyinaband even does genre specific tutorials depending on the style you want to produce.

PPL dont buy or copy patches...its not cool at all....OMG artist create their own style....u can watch tutorials and learn....but not buy / copy or steal...i will make a tutorial soon for dubstep beats / base lines

@FasoleCuMuci10 yes and no..have you listened to rusko, flux pavilion and chase and status..they all use the same synth in some of their songs the so called "rusko" synth. downlink, excision and datsik sound so much alike they're always remixing eachothers tracks! so...come up with your own style...yes, but also use industry standard sounds too

@S0SickDubsteP sound design takes time and practice. these patches serve as a good jumping off point for anyone who wants to learn and delve into the world of designing their own sounds. you can dissect them and figure out how to create your own unique sounds. it took me quite a while experimenting to come up with some of these patches so...to each his own. cheers
