Ubuntu- How to change screen size

When I install Ubuntu using a Hp vs15 monitor it sux. But when I use a different monitor it looks fine.

if you are having problems with blank or black screen type this before you boot into ubuntu desktop

i have ubuntu jaunty now installed in my system but my problem is it is locked in 800x??? resolution and when i installed nvidia driver the resolution goes to VGA and i cant change it to higher resolution cos the VGA resoltuion and other lower resolution is the only option...i want to have 1152x864 resolution >>>im using Geforce2 MX/MX400 ty guys

when you do a fresh install and it gives you keyboard options you have to make it custom and select usa then usa layout again it will take a reinstall mine came out Turkish and didn't do shit even when i found a way to login and change it.

thanks for this video!!!! this totally worked compared to the other options i tried...for some reason my tv was acting weird when i would change the resolution via ps3videomode command. this solved it!
