I mentioned the cam below about a year ago. I ended up pulling the cam and going back to a stock 325i cam which I like a lot. I did not like the rough idle ............. But, if I had bought the mildest cam instead of the second step up, I think I would have been happy with it.
The engine is an 87 325i. The cam is a schrick 284 and I felt it was to much for me so I replaced it with a stock cam. My next engine will have a mild street 272 cam. They cost about $425 but there are good regrinds if you are on a budget (which we all are on). I do not know what you mean by chain.
It is ok to run an engine for a few minutes without coolant or a radiator. The main reason for doing with this way is if there is a problem, there is less labor if we have to remove the engine, plus we would not have the problem of capturing the coolant.

ive got a 2002 325i and im looking st getting a mild cam for it soon i hope itll sound similar but not as deep

@a0987312245 I am in Detroit. We did the work...parts about $400 plus the cam. I did not like the cam so I went back to stock :(
