  • The Drummer is full of Alkohol...

    but i love this band

  • I'm here because of Tank Girl.

  • if they have a song called chaos, then WFT is this??

  • I dunno what they smoked, but I don't want it.

  • Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

  • this song is exactly how i felt after watching that movie inception and the first matrix completely confused and mind fucked

  • hamburgers harry! :D

  • WTF WHAT THE HELL IS THAT

    ?

  • So glad to see this, have it on video somewhere. One of the 80s finest! Thanks so much for posting, has quite cheered me up!

    The Mikkster

  • 161 people don't have chips

  • Lol my dad was in the backing vocals for this.

  • Despite its $4.95 budget, this has to be my favorite music video of all time

  • Stump sucks.

They remind me of Primus, so I thought it was acceptable here.

  • I need bass tabs for this.

  • @therealmistman Are you joking?

  • @therealmistman It's a fretless bass: so no tabs for you!

  • Comment removed

  • @youngmistergrace Actually,The Notes can be recognised,you're a musician,right? :)

  • @youngmistergrace just cuz theres no frets doesnt mean it cant have tabs, its still playing the same notes as a fretted bass, and hitting the same spots as a fretted bass player would

  • ah i get it this is the terrible version of primus

  • @wondernerd2 Primus is the terrible version of this

  • Takes a few listens, but I actually find this quite catchy!

  • @fav13andacdc yes!some times i find myself singing this in the bus XD

  • @meteleskate Yeah, and the amount of sarcasm that's in this song is hilarious, how can anybody not like it?

  • @fav13andacdc i dont now how 161 persons can dont like this song!

  • hahaha, forgot about this lot, superb!

  • This video is SO full of win

  • wow it's like if every thing ever lost its talent.....

  • the singer looks somehow like beardymans lost brother.

  • This should be a Christmas #1 2012

  • My sister had the LP of this song, and she used to play it. Her and I would walk around the house screaming HOW MUCH IS THE FISH?! XD;

  • Oh man I fucking love all of these songs available on the internet. I'm going to always feel a void in my life knowing that none of their albums are in circulation.

  • I seriously hope you just put this song on here as a joke...

  • @joeymashewharlow the song is a brilliant commentary based on observations of bloated and dimwitted American tourists waddling around Cork (in Ireland) it doesn't take much to work out how brilliant the lyrics are now, eh?

  • @emperorbevis I only wish an American band made a song about European tourists who come to America and do nothing but treat every ordinary citizen as a fucking suggestion box for our government. I understand how it can be annoying to have an American disrespect your country as a tourist, but it works both ways, there are stupid ass and annoying Euros, too. Americans often get the brunt of the blow when Europeans come here and do nothing but bitch about how America isn't enough like Europe.

  • @metalfaust19 I would like that song, especially if it was by RAtM.

What you must remember here is this is a promo for an eighties band, a time when transatlantic travel was pretty much the preserve of the rich and obnoxious. Now its us Brits are the ignorant and rude granted.

Actually the eighties the Anglo/Irish opinion of U.S. was very, probably the only dissenting voice was that of WW2 veterans embittered by seeing their friends shot by G.I.'s (American friendly fire is nothing new, lol)

  • @emperorbevis Of course, I know the exact type of Americans you speak of, I had the pleasure of growing up in the middle-class suburb that was right next to the rich area that was full of them. I'll admit America has a bad reputation for being asshole tourists, but the same crop of snobby people exists in all countries these days. I still cringe to think of Americans who go to Europe and talk about how America "won" WW2, I know those people exist and they make me lol when I meet them.

  • @metalfaust19 funnily enough I've not meet such like for about 15 years or so, every American I've encountered I've had great conversations bout this even the war of Independence. Me, I wouldn't dream of commentating on U.S. politics, Obama seems okay but I don't live under his policies, all I will say is he has a nice smile, heard he brews his own beer and doesn't start wars, so pretty much thumbs up. My only criticism of the U.S. as a country is one too many Brits there, i.e. Simon Cowell.

  • @metalfaust19 hahaha the United States is at war in 6 different countries and you're whining about the "brunt of the blow" from European tourists - too funny

  • @metalfaust19

    Cry me a river.

  • @metalfaust19 I think a good American response of the time of Stump's "Buffalo" was The Dead Milkman's "Instant Club Hit".

  • just remember god put your bottom at the bottom of your bottom so you dont end up with faeces on your faces

  • i like when its different but its just not the same. just that one line is so crazy when you think about it. different and not the same mean the same thing, however they're "not quite the same," so their different, but not really cause they mean the same thing. like what the fuck

  • I remember seeing this on "The Tube" when it came out, and then taping the repeat, and then wearing out the tape, awesome

  • Does the fish have chips?

  • Don't do drugs kids

  • This video raped me :'(

  • HOW MUCH IS THE CHIPS !!!??

  • this video.......tramatized me in so maney diff ways......

  • Oh ultimateguitar forums how funny you were!

  • crazy stuff

  • this song rules

  • hahaha! it is like tank girls hair.

  • anyone who thinks this is worth a damn can suck dicks for about 14 hours straight, and you suck at your own pathetic life

  • @KLNZRSUCKSBALLSACK Curse you opinion!!!!

  • art school gone wrong

  • I think this song should be played at every all you can eat buffet in America. This song is on the level of Primus. I'm actually not a big fan of many of their other songs. I love how everyone this song insults would never understand that it's insulting them.

  • Und ich Depp hab die Platte nicht mehr....

  • My life is better after seeing this

  • Finbarr Donnelly is turning in his grave. I think Stump are okay but only now I made the connection between these and Five Go Down to the Sea/Beethoven.

  • Oh and if you don't 'get' this sort of stuff. That's ok. You're just either too old or too young. Either way, just move right along. Nothing to see here.

  • Excellent. I was a (teenage honved) armchair Stump fan since mud on a colon, 198?. Witty but sort of literary and, in my 19 yr old substance-addled brain, even avant-gardey and beefhearty. haha! But everything Ron Johnson was, wasn't it? Almost up there with Bogshed/A Witness for me. Thanks for posting.

  • i remember when this came out,so bad its brilliant, how do i get of the bus.

  • Genius

  • we know Chris Salmon on lead guitar!! He doesn't look like that now though ....

  • we know Chris Salmon on lead guitar!! He doesn't look like that now though ....

  • damm, this song its caught in my head

  • damm, this song its cought in my head

  • This song makes Rebecca Black's music look good...

  • Can someone tell me exactly what the FUCK is going on?

  • @SoWachuWan It's a song about Americans.

  • im sooooooooo happy cant believe this is here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Has anyone got Safe Sex? It was on the flip side of the Chaos EP (I think)

  • @CPGagie It's on the Anthology 3CD set released in 2008.

    Dave.

  • I really wish these guys would get together and tour again, they were hilarious, my favourite track of theirs is "tupperware stripper" and it is one of those tracks you'll be humming for weeks and you'll have an enormous smile on your dial while you're doing it ! Please Guys the music industry is taking itself far too seriously, we need that delightfully silly breath of fresh air! :-D

  • cool this is the one!

  • I come watch this when I want nightmares for a week or so.

  • I my old man used to play this all the time when i was little, its kinda strange hearing it again all these years later. Fucking brilliant though.

  • How can I leave this behind?

  • This is the worst song going. Ever

  • I absolutely love that harmonics solo!

  • I followed Stump all over in the late 80s. Brilliant. Once stood next to Mick Lynch when the support were playing but was too much in awe of him to speak to him.

  • Thing was about this band, they played this stuff "note perfect" live. Fantastic, and a great laugh! Glad I saw em. best thing was, Edward Barton was the support act. If you dont know who he is, hes on youtube....

  • absolutely brilliant. A lot of people here with no humour.

  • absolutely brilliant.

  • HOW MUCH IS THE FISH?!!!???

  • Penderecki is better

  • my dad proper loves this. The problem is he is high on heroin when he hears it. I think it's a load of Jan Terri wank to be honest

  • Gawd this is the best song ever! My advice to the people who can't dig it: get a sense of humor you nerds!

I'm covering this at an open mic night soon. This song encapsulates the meaning of the word 'fun'.

    Shiver my fucking timbers!

  • i first heard about stump roughly 4 years ago through my brother. there was an instructor on the site that my bro teaches on saying, "if you wanna hear the most horrible s*&t ever recorded, go here.."he played it for me as comic relief....little did he or i know that my love for stump would emerge that fine day : ) ever since, i simply love turning others on to this imaginative, truly original collective of minds. can you make your guitar sound like that? oh, and a vote for best dancer, ever.

  • This is quite quirky for your average square but in concert Stump were amazing! I saw them a couple of times in the 80s at small and medium sized venues and they got the whole joint rocking!

Audiences went crazy for them - this music sucked you right in.

  • How much is th chips??

  • This might be the greatest band in the history of mankind.

  • this is beyond shit, and im not being mean. just truthful

  • I've listened to this song twice and I'm still not sure... Does this fish have chips?

  • @TheForestb well how much is the fish?

  • just genius. Makes me want to get a band of idiots together and just make some funky random noise!

  • Don't you love it when you find songs on youtube you haven't heard for over 20 years? [and still remember all the lyrics :) ]

  • HOW MUCH IS THE FISH?! HOW MUCH IS THE FISH?!!!

  • It's so bad it's so good and it's so good it's bad...at the same time. weird.

  • What are the words for the verse where he goes its the K K K K....?

    Thanks

  • This somehow reminds me of when I was high in 9th grade and to be able to encapsulate the sheer anxiety and unfamiliarity in sound is perhaps the most ingenious thing I've ever heard. Sure it sounds dissonant, that's because nowadays we listen to major scales played up and down to a 4/4 beat with drum machines and auto tune.

This song is great, for its complexity and originality. The chords used aren't just random, they have a progression. And the resolution at 1:22 is amazing.

  • @Crushkist i dont think that they give a flying fuk about music theory.. they just rock out!

  • @Crushkist I only saw this video on recommendation of my partner but makes me giggle so much the lead singers face not just make me laugh it makes me ROFL hahahah.. How much is the FISH how Much is The FISH?? Dose the FISH HAVE CHIPS. (dont mention hamburgers Harry)!!!!!!!! LOL

  • guys, you just DON'T GET IT. Explain how this is a disgrace to music? These guys had the bollucks do do something utterly original and out there. Fine, I get it if you don't like it, I can't judge that. But seriously, the musicianship is brilliant and you can't really plant this in a genre. If this is a disgrace to music, then just go back home and listen to Justin Bieber and watch the X-Factor. Nobody cares.

By the way, Stump are one of Mike Patton's favourite band. Nuff said. Have a nice day!

  • @SwamplandRecordsLtd yeah cause it sucks.

  • If the Goons had been an 80's indie band... :)

  • Absolutely love Stump, such talented musicians and clearly have enough imagination for all of those people that can't appreciate music that is different and unique!!

    Immaculate molars baby :)

  • dont mention hamburgers, harry

  • The only song i ever heard by STUMP was Charleton Heston. I've remembered it since the 80s, it was that impressive. This Buffalo song proves to me these guys were the mad artists i took them for. Does the fish have chips?

  • looks like a wal bass

  • Call me simplistic, but I just think it's funny as hell.

  • one of MIke Pattons favorite bands..explains alot

  • @bloodsling it explains a lot about no one caring

  • where can i download?

  • @graffthemetalhead - I don't know if it's legally downloadable anywhere, but there is a 3-CD THE COMPLETE ANTHOLOGY set that costs $18-24.

  • I've looked and looked for this track ever since You Tube was hatched - had the wrong bloody name for it - and tonight I go to sleep a very, very happy bunny - Stump were sublime, and now I have the proof xx

  • Saw Stump in 1986 in London. Amazing energy. This song is about the singer's experience selling fish and chips to tourists. My favorite band at the time. They were startlingly original, and were commercially unsuccessful for the same reason. Incredible bass player.

  • HAVE ONE FOR FREE. CONCENTRATE THINK

CONCENTRATE ON MODERN PSYCHOLOGY AND MODERN PHARMACY IN

THE FUTURE. LIGHT YEARS light years in time.................... .......

  • I saw Stump live at the Tropic club in Bristol in about '86 and I seem to remember that they sounded superb, just like listening to a record

  • It took me awhile to figure out what this song is about :] I had to look it up xD

  • OMG times infinity. Like.

  • OMG

  • Truth be told, I bet some people are just jealous... others are scared to shit, and others are mesmerized. I fit in the last group, methinkes

  • Immaculate molars.

  • love the orange strat

  • Acid is one hell of a drug.

  • Stump - the most innovative band of the eighties. But unfortunately without adequate success. Because most just want to hear Mainstream.

  • The beauty of youtube. Over 200,000 people have now seen this slab of genius, probably more than ever heard it when it was released.

Although the reaction of people I show this to is about 1% adoration, 99% fear.

  • @vastariner

Nice one, mate! I was mental about this lot...I used to travel all the country to see them.

  • Huh...interesting.

  • yeah clemzz - why duzz any1 lissn dis shit?

Espeshully wen day never went skolol, eh? you twat

  • what is this, i dont even

  • Oh yeah, great to hear this again, fab!

  • pmsl i loooove this

  • Ohhh... my. I really don't know what to think. I certainly wasn't expecting this.

  • WHAT THE FU-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

  • This makes me happy, I cannot play an instrument or hold a tune but these guys (who actually CAN!) choose to make something that I could emulate with a bunch of tone deaf children in my garage!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @sosketchyy omg ur lyke such a sketchbag soooo sketchy tonite

  • throughout the vid, they all make jizzing faces

  • brilliance. how much is the fish. kev hopper ruled the bass.

  • 3:46 pmsfl his face -this is great and strangely addictive i remember hearing it on John Peel (RIP) when i was younger hahahaha nuts mon

  • Once you get this song in your head it will hide in a corner and fix itself permanently.

  • This is the strangest song ever.......but still such a awesome funny song.......HOW DO I GET OFF THE BUS !!

  • I'm like a fish out of water if I don't quirk out with Salmons harmonics now and again. :)

  • this song is terrible but i cant stop listening to it

  • H I P N O T I Z A N T E! this its better than marijuana dude

    HOW MUCH IS THE CHIPS????!!!!!

Who's got the lyrics of this song!?

  • I think the C86 version is better. I wonder why they didn't use that track for the album versions.

  • Derp.

  • hahaha thats mental i likey :D

  • i wonder if i should get off of the computer and start getting out of the house more often.

  • @MrFranksnot why?

  • It took me a while to realise this wasn't another bunch of idiots posting vids of themselves on youtube. How sad that this was a real song and a real band...

  • @TailsClock I think you mean "How Amazing"

  • Big gangly dork fuckface

  • immaculate molars, baby!

  • lmao this is badass

  • LOL! Gr8 memories!

  • A song best left to ones own imagination. Sad video

  • 117 peeps missed the Like button.

  • This song gets better the more you listen to it! :P

  • for some reason i can't stop listen this shit

    stumprolled

  • Wow this song is awesome, i like the bass, but i'm sad that they are split, but anyway this was and it will be better than that mainstream bullshit like lady gaga and that faggot justin bieber.

  • I like when it's different

...but it's just not the same.

  • I need to see Beavis & Butthead's reaction to this video.

  • What the hell did I just hear?

  • A song about asses, pleasant.

  • @ik33lyou32

A song about fat arsed americans coming to london .....it's a song about fat arsed american tourists meaning practically all american tourists in london.

  • WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK

  • the guy out of the golden cups makes flea sound like he's got one hand , the guy out of primus is supposed to be handy , but then again i hate slap bass no matter how good it is , have a listen to hey joe buy the golden cups on here , it is 60's yes but they were only youngsters 17 -18 or so

  • this is so disorienting that i can't believe that i just watched the whole thing.

  • once you get past how complex the song actually is, its pretty catchy
