I am so pleased that someone has finally presented an authentic performance of this sonnet. It is a matter of historical record that Donne first performed this work, at Oxford in 1609, as a baggy pants farce, complete with seltzer bottles and inflated pig's bladders. At last we can enjoy this work as the poet intended.
p.s. love the "except you ravish me" bit. I actually did laugh out loud.
Well, this is quite a different take on the text after listening to the same poem used as the baritone aria at the finale of Act I of "Doctor Atomic."
