  • I saw RHPS at the Loft in 2004. It was an interesting experience.

  • posers, wannabes and never will be's every one ;]

  • Part II

Took over the what was supposed to be completely unorganized, unscheduled, and anonymous. It would be as if a TV show about a bunch of "Drama Queens" from a local high school tried to put on a performance of RHPS, all the time keeping within the school's and PTA Liberal Guidelines Guidelines regarding obscenity and taste. Getting the Picture Here? I am sure GLEE'd that you understand my point

  • This was the reason that I QUIT going to the RHPS in the early 80s. When the Audience performers got too organized , the inevitable happened. A fixed "CAST" of the primary characters was somehow chosen an and were the only ones allowed to "Participate" as those characters; at least at certain more popular theater venues. This defied to whole concept of taking the performance experience. Some theaters actually handed out lists of character that they "Did not Need".It was if someones acting club

  • @haitipi Part III...In our town there was never enough people in costume to make the show interesting to first time goers, unless the hardcore fans who returned every week took it serrriously enough to plan good costumes, choreography and games (Republicans). There were always a few people who got mad when others would come dressed as "thier" charater, but someone in our group would set them straight if I did not.. mayhem has it's place. Anarch drives Rocky Horror. Strike a balance... (more)

I suppose that you are right. It might be that a lot of us felt left out when a certain "in group" took over the whole place and those of us who supported the show (through buying tickets---$3.00 in those days) were treated poorly by the "Rocky Elites" (if I may slaughter a political term). Admittedly, some of the regular cast members were very good and at first I really liked it. I guess it was the elitist attitude that turned me and my friends off. I would still like to go

  • Respond to this video...

    Part 2

I would like my wife to see RHPS with the performers NOW though. She is from Thailand and was not here in the 70s or 80s, but has now heard of the phenomena. Sadly, my old theater is gone and we woill have to drive 30 miles or so to see it at the NUART Theater in LA.

Hey, thanks for responding to my comments. That was very cool of you to do; that is, explaining another side of it.

  • @TheDoctorVideo--When I was last attending RHPS on a regular basis, almost never did I see people dress up as the characters. ''Dressing up'' meant something totally different and I am talking as if it were 5-10 years ago. Up to this point, I'd much rather see the Rocky Horror Show play. It is a whole lot better. I guess it's not for anything why RHPS was a major box office flop in '75.

  • (cont.) Another weird thing I found with members of the RHPS community is that they would question my authority just for going in there by myself. WTF! I don't know about you but that's not ''a place where you can be yourself'' in my book. Hanging around members of the RH community, made me realize why they don't fit in. With RHPS I did finally fit in, but after a while I started to feel like it was not my kind of crowd. I did get to do some fun stuff but still.

You know I actually snuck into Rocky Horror when it first came out . I played with Flesh Gordon, which is what we wanted to see. My brother called it a "fag movie", but 4 years later he was up there doin' the Time Warp like everyone else. I didn't go back until late 1979 and loved it. But watching the movie in a silent half empty theater is really dull. Nevertheless, there are some fantastic performances in there, Sarandon and Bostwick were nobodies then

  • @haitipi--Cool! The movie came out before I was even born. At first, I saw it on video, and had no clue to what goes on in the theater. Then, I went to see the movie. i was not fond of it at first just the same (but never saw it as a ''fag'' movie.) The next day, I bought the soundtrack and got hooked. It was fun while it lasted but after 9 years I got bored of it. The same people doing the same thing week after week for years gets dull after a while. I thought it was time for a change.

  • @haitipi (cont.)--Not to mention that a lot of these Rocky Horror casts (mostly those who mimic the actions on screen) are pretty stuck-up and like to create ''drama'' along casts. I just think that is pretty ridiculous. Already the workplace is more pleasant. I only ever got to perform Criminologist and for some reason it feels like it was enough. A lot of RH(P)S fans are also pretty trashy. I can understand what they are going through, but they have no right to inflict it onto someone else.

  • @Interests2009

What a bummer. It rely does defy the whole point of the accidental phenomena that is the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

You hit it on the head, when you mentioned "Don't Dream it Be it". Now it's "Don't be it, FORGET IT!"

    Take care.
