BNSF why don't you istall ATS all the way between Galesburg IL and La Junta Co, and upgrade the tracks so Intermodel trains across this country can go 79 to 90 and Amtrak as well, that will help customers get what they need faster.
They've tightened up some. The track limit to KC has been 79 for quite a while now. They've given them a yard limit of 10...believe that??? But; they still fly in, and fly out. Amtrak pays so much for the use of the track, and the freights pretty much get priority, so I think the "powers that be" make like Linda Blair, and turn their head!...Thanks!...Doc
Most of the folks in this end of town seem know about the Amtrak traffic here. But someday, sadly...it'll probably happen. I'm about 6' from the rail, two to three from the side of the train. I usually anchor my foot to a sign or something, in case I lose my balance.
Wow, looks like they need to work on the programming for that signal. 3 seconds from the time the gate was down till the locomotive hit the crossing. Cutting it a little close!
K5LA anyone??

Damm he was flying had to be at least 80mph. Would be nasty to get hit by that.

Yes indeed...! That was "dangerously close" my friend. But a very nice shot. Great job. Record much more. LOL!
Dkels219 3 years ago
I would have backed away about 5 more feet to record that, just to be sure that I would not get hit.
Apparently, the engineer thought you were a bit too close as well. He blew the horn a lot more than the usual crossing tune.

What is the speed limit on that line? He was FLYING!
trainsmaniac2009 4 years ago
Once he's out of the Topeka yards, which he is here, the
track limit's 80. From Kansas City on, it's 90 most of the way to Chicago....Doc

The Topeka Sub used to allow them 90 too!

OMGosh...how close from the tracks was you?! That's rare, for someone not to go around the gates. Probably because you was filming:P
