  • sad song but beautiful...... so far different from the garbage songs of today.

  • Always loved this song...bittersweet~~

  • My dog and I traveled about and he up and died a week ago tonight... Ain't life a bitch!

  • @DocDave77 ....when you lose your best friend.it sure is a bitch. r.i.p. Sarge

  • Great song. Classic! Love this so much.

They don't make em like they used to! Thank You for sharing.

  • this song make me remember when i was a happy girl at Mexico, when my dad was life

  • This is great music that this generation of rap/hip-hop people will never know about! It's definitely their loss!!! I still have the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's 3-album vinyl record!!! BobbyK :+)

  • @bobby7771117 You got that right Bobby. Hip Hop and rap should take a look/listen and learn something. They could really capitalize on some of these classics if they were smart enough!

  • @MargaretStoner You have no idea what you're talking about

  • Jerry Jeff Walker wrote this song but the NGDB made it for the AGES. Too awesome, too nostalgic, too sentimental, and too REAL.

  • Does anyone have a copy of the original short narration that precedes this song in the original recording? anyone? thanks! Ted artlandph@gmail.com

  • @artlander1 the part you are referring to is the "Uncle Charlie & His Dog Teddy" which opens the album of the same name. I always play that before the Song by written by Jerry Jeff Walker, because thats way NGDB put it down on a recording. The transition from verse to song is almost heart stopping and deserves to be together. Get CD by NGDB you'll never let go of it.

  • I'm only 3.14159265 years old, but I really prefer this sort of music over Justin Biebers' cacophonous and discordant rhythms and themes. Please give me a thumb extended in the northern direction if happen to agree. VALIDATE ME!

Or at the very least steal this form of rebellion to reduce such trite nonsense.

Thumbs up if Sadaam sent you.

Thank you very little! Good Day.

  • They never make these kinds of songs these days anymore. :(

  • Reply to tmtmoormr: Jerry Jeff Walker Wrote this song

  • great song written by hoyt axton the mandolin makes the song i love it

  • Ican remeber when i was about eight I received a little portable record player for cristmas and some 45s. Back ten music came on black disks called records (LOL)

but Mr. Bojangles was one of the recosrds I receieved. I played it anmd palyed it and played it . Them I tried to sing it as I gor older. This is a very hard song to sing and come out with comprable results to the masters. In any respect I could never sing the song.

  • Great Song,Sad as it is.

  • this song really speaks 2 u its beatiful

  • amazing

  • Unfortunately you are wrong in saying it belongs to the NGD band it was first recorded by jerry jeff walker. Still a beautiful song. definitely thumbs up.

  • I really love this song. It truly inspires me. I learned to play and sing this on guitar, and its amazing. I truly love it <3

  • i love the actual restaurant!

  • GungraveFreak2: I like what I see in my mind when I listen to this song, rather than watching someone's video presentation. Not only is the audio-only posting of this tune much appreciated, but I also hasten to add that the superb audio quality does justice to the quaint imagery that forms in the theatre of the mind. Thank you!

  • It really belongs to Jerry Jeff Walker but the NGDB has done it a fair justice!

  • Goosebumps.

  • Thanks for the comments, it truly is a beautiful song.

  • Thanks for posting this. I like the live versions but they never sing it right. Great song

  • This is a truly great version- the rhythm carries it along really well and the mandolins & guitars sound super. Vocals are pretty good too.

  • Man there are some songs.......I don't know.......they just wanna

make you cry.........this is one of those songs, this version.
