This is great music that this generation of rap/hip-hop people will never know about! It's definitely their loss!!! I still have the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's 3-album vinyl record!!! BobbyK :+)
@bobby7771117 You got that right Bobby. Hip Hop and rap should take a look/listen and learn something. They could really capitalize on some of these classics if they were smart enough!
@artlander1 the part you are referring to is the "Uncle Charlie & His Dog Teddy" which opens the album of the same name. I always play that before the Song by written by Jerry Jeff Walker, because thats way NGDB put it down on a recording. The transition from verse to song is almost heart stopping and deserves to be together. Get CD by NGDB you'll never let go of it.
I'm only 3.14159265 years old, but I really prefer this sort of music over Justin Biebers' cacophonous and discordant rhythms and themes. Please give me a thumb extended in the northern direction if happen to agree. VALIDATE ME!
Or at the very least steal this form of rebellion to reduce such trite nonsense.
Ican remeber when i was about eight I received a little portable record player for cristmas and some 45s. Back ten music came on black disks called records (LOL)
but Mr. Bojangles was one of the recosrds I receieved. I played it anmd palyed it and played it . Them I tried to sing it as I gor older. This is a very hard song to sing and come out with comprable results to the masters. In any respect I could never sing the song.
Unfortunately you are wrong in saying it belongs to the NGD band it was first recorded by jerry jeff walker. Still a beautiful song. definitely thumbs up.
GungraveFreak2: I like what I see in my mind when I listen to this song, rather than watching someone's video presentation. Not only is the audio-only posting of this tune much appreciated, but I also hasten to add that the superb audio quality does justice to the quaint imagery that forms in the theatre of the mind. Thank you!
You just cant make this stuff up, the words and song come from real life, (Cuz i drinks a bit)

Jerry Jeff Walker wrote this song but the NGDB made it for the AGES. Too awesome, too nostalgic, too sentimental, and too REAL.

This is a truly great version- the rhythm carries it along really well and the mandolins & guitars sound super. Vocals are pretty good too.
