@ewans63 i have a deck of 40 cards (a 2 3 4 5 6 7 j q k) and it works with 10 cards in every pile

If you want, you can do this for three or four people. the only things that change are each pile has ten cards (the face cards are now all worth ten except aces (which are worth one)) and you memorize the third card if you have three people and the forth card if you have four people rather than the second card if you have two people

It seems like the worst case scenario with this is that you end up with two aces (unlikely, I know) for the spectators' lucky cards, so that nothing ends up back on the deck, and it becomes clear that you just knew the second card from the top. Any tips for how to cover for that situation?

QUESTION!!!! If one of the cards in the deck is missing .... would it still work? How many cards are needed ... 52 or 54(with the jokers)?

@TheNoEvilMan777 Any amount of cards, it will still be 13 dealt off to each person and then the 2nd card from the top of the cards left over. The only difference is there's more cards underneath the chosen card.

This effect is also great to force a specific card for a trick you'll be doing afterwards. Say you want to force an ace of spades for the next trick, you simply put the ace of spades in the 28th position from the top. I'm proud of you, Andy! =)

Yeey! I had it right :) Well not when I commented, because at that time I only had it almost right. I hadn't completely thought it through and was under the impression a double lift was done for the top card, but then I tried it and noticed that wasn't the case. That's why I was so impressed, I thought: man that's got to be the most perfect double lift ever. :D Still a great effect though.
