  • @ddoodm Eehm, I use it? I'm not saying megatech is kind or something, he ain't, but VB is a language (as far as I know anyway ;))

  • I've been working on debbuging a project of mine and I'm stuck cause I want to be able to use a timer and read each line of a txt file and on every tick I want it to read the next line... any ideas?

    Like "Line1 = textbox1.text line2 = textbox2.text" and so on...

    Thanks!

  • @tungruffel

    Yes, instead of using str1 = reader.ReadLine you can use str1 = reader.ReadtoEnd

  • @ddoodm i bet most of people out there use it

  • @MegaTechHD Helpful tip - When insulting other's, or referring your own content; use porpper grammar.

  • lol 1Mihailo is stalking you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

he owns 80% of the comments on this video!

btw how do you choose a spesific line in the textfile? say i have a text with 100 lines but i only need to read the 25th and 67th

  • Haha! Yea! True! :P

I haven't used VB in ages, so I can't say I know any efficient way to do it. But I guess you could just repeat the readLine process 25 times and store the results in dummy variables. I know it's a dumb way to do it, but I can't remember the other ways. :)

    Good luck with your app!

  • yep that's what i thought. it works preety fine too.

  • Haha! Ok then! Great! Glad it works!

  • lol i also have the same thought haha

  • lol now i can post 1 comment....

and then i will be able to reply and rate only

  • Hey, I have a weird Question on how to do something.

My Program saves to a certain file, and reads from it, but i have another one that is in a diffrent file and the files can have any name the user sets, because there are multiple of them that read the same way, the users reading the file don't know the name of it though, how do they select it without knowing the name? like adding the file names to a combo box. please respond

  • Uh. I don't really get the question and I'm in a bit of a rush, so please pardon me if this is wrong. :)

I guess you could set up a combo box and create an if statement that checks the selected option (string) and then runs my code for whatever file you want. :)

Sorry for the bad answer. I'm just about to have dinner. :) Good luck!

  • id want to make uhm... some like ( fake ) login that can add lines ( makes a log file ) and not just overwrite it... if you could send me the code please...

  • or exactly to be Multyplay lines write not read :P

( and if you can...please make it to not overwrite the txt log file )

  • Um... I sorta don't really get what you mean, but I guess you could store the textfile as a variable first, write to it and then save it again. :)

    Good luck!

I can't really send you the bode, buth because now I have to do some homework, and also because I'm more of a C programmer than VB. I forget pretty much everything about VB. :)
