what kind of speed should i expect with two 5000mah 7.2V packs. how much faster would adding a cell to each pack making them each 8.4V total make this system go. Is the original EVX able to withstand 16.8V with those motors
Expect the low 30's with 6 cell apcks and mid to high 30's with 7 cell packs. Yes, these particular motors were chosen to work well with the original EVX.
expect mid 30mph. And yes, adding an extra cell to each pack will make a big dfference. The original EVX will hand the 700 motors. However, i'm out of the 700 motors right now. Email me directly at dan @ kershawdesigns, com for alternatives.
very nice, How much are the motors and anything else to complete project. I mean total cost of the swap is????? Nice video great driving and showing off the potential power this truck has.
Well, first off, there really are not any upgrades to the truck other than the 700-HO motor kit and a good set of 7 cell packs. And yes it is still waterproof.
Any Traxxas EVX, whether it be the original or EVX-2 can handle the motors. They are a 179 watt motor at 14.4V. If the ESC is not overheating, then the motors can be geared up for more speed.
Milemarks thx got love the power getting

The kit at the enxt web address has, I'd say, about 85-90% of the power of a 4S brushless system. But it's cheaper and still water proof.

Does anyone know how many turns these motors are?
Can they take 16.8volts at all?
hardcoretam 3 years ago
16.8 volts is what you want for best performance.

how much for 1 motor?
paintsplat20 3 years ago
I'm not sure if they sell it with one motor alone. But they DO sell a 970motor alone.
I would suggest the 970, as it's MORE powerful, and faster.
I'm sure you can contact Dan (as he's a GREAT person to deal with), and he might sell you one 700.. Don't take my word for it.

Seems like a good alternative to brushless to save money
hardcoretam 3 years ago
Definitely.
stewieleetsauce1994 3 years ago
I bet it has a lot more torque. What ESC can handle those motors though?
What turn are they and/or watts amps drawage?
Them seem a lot quicker to spool up than stock but top end looks the same

is that brushless?
miniheli 3 years ago
No. It is powered by 2 x 700-sized brushed motors.
milemarkers 3 years ago
Though, it may be as powerful, or MORE powerful (MAYBE), than brushless... It's definitely a great alternative.
