  • Hello Robert! That was really something! I am very much into this type of musical expression! Great job! Joey Vaughan "World Blues Attack"

  • pretty, but I don't understand why you call it solea if you are not in compas of solea

  • @alexbulerias

Good question ;) I was inspired by this open intro's you can hear often in Flamenco and a friend suggested the title..Also this video is some kind of improvisation around many ideas I was practicing at that time, not really too connected with each others but somehow they make a sense together(at least to me...;) ) and I know that many flamenco singers does the same, improvising ideas on the spot that are not always connected..so the title made sense..Thanks for your comment!!Rob

  • where did you pick up your flamenco techniques? Anyone you'd suggest checking out? Amazing playing!

  • @AdamClaytonWright

Hi Adam, sorry for the late replay.Well I don't really consider my technique a real Flamenco one..but if you are interested in learning the real flamenco approach and way to play I would recommend Carles Benavent, he's my favorite in this style.

Thanks a lot for your comment!

  • Beautiful. Is that a 33in scale W & T bass ?

  • what i can say after what i read about the conversation with Y2H is that keep up what you are doing, because music don't have limits, music is what we feel and what our soul sing not our brains, great job and keep up what you are doing we are looking alwayse for new melody and new stuff to work and to progress what music can offre us.

  • @tissouss

    Thanks man.

I totally agree with you.Of course it's normal to find people trying to put you down because your music or playing doesn't reflect anything they can connect with their mental cliche'..but thankfully there's still be open minded people.I believe that consistency with ourself in music is the key, and when I recorded this "Solea" I was true with my self at that time so this is why I get so pissed off from people like Y2H.

    Cheers

    Rob

  • Unbelievable. Do you ever play fretless?

  • @JuIsTheLaw

Thanks Juls, I play fretless but just occasionally, I should probably do it more.

    Cheers

    Rob

  • Unbelievable. I'll definitely be checking out your CD.

    Do you ever play fretless?

  • Unbelievable. I'll definitely be checking out your CD.

    Do you ever play fretless?

  • Beautiful! Did you study with Matt at Berklee?

  • great video

  • Lovely. It made me think of swooping birds in a pastoral scene. very painterly. Not to unjustly impose my personal imagery interpretation or anything. I enjoyed it, thanks for playing it.

  • its nice, I like the dynamics in this

  • buenisimo!!!!

  • Hi Roberto, what's up? Are you enjoying NYC? I checked out the new videos of yours (Oddflow) and I think your playing is great and I really like the band too. Marko Djordjevic is having a clinic tomorrow here in Slovenia and I'll try to go to listen to him since I like his playing and I think it's really awesome that you play with him.

  • I love your playing style and virtuosity as I love the killing answers you provided to the mentally disturbed idiot YDH, the Gengis Khan one is piece of art Rob!!Lol

  • Flamenco is a classy music. This is an electric-crap!

  • y2h, purism is a consequence of narrow minds, and I decided years ago to eliminate purists from my perspective. The world in general and music are bigger than you can discern.

  • I doubt I will listen to a person with lower IQ. Well, as you know your taste in art depends on your brain and I listen to Beethoven so until you ca top that you can go to your pathetic music! You think you´re Paco de Lucía?!

  • Well ,I listen to Beethoven to, but I am not sure I can top that. You are sure you can? Anyway, NO, I am not a descendant of Paco. I think I am a descendent of Gengis Khan according to the way I would deal with inflated brains like you

  • Haha. I wonder if Y2H is as retarded as he sounds or if he's just putting on a facade to mess with you.

  • Any asshat can claim they have a higher IQ than someone else.

This time around, you are that asshat. Congratulations.

Though I do fancy your run-on-sentence.

  • ciao roberto complimenti vivissimi sei eccezionale volevo chiederti quanto ti è costato quel wood e tronics ??????complimenti ancora

  • Hi Vivaflamenco,

this is not a traditional flamenco, as you said, is just a bass etude that i called Solea, there's some elements of flamenco inside in a mix with jazz.

I'm glad you like it anyway!

    Rob

  • Thanks ROBERTO for sharing your amazing talent

with us youtubers. You and dominique dipiazza are unique bass players with that tecnique in the world.Jazzcombo251 ,this too much for you.

  • maybe if you played half the amount of notes you played i could appreciate how nice this song sounds. it just gets rediculous man your very talented but you shred wayyyy to much.

  • Dear Jazzcombo251,

    thanks for your comment,

Ok, i shred too much, but please let me know wich notes should i take off.

    Thanks

    Rob

  • Your pickups are massive. O.o

    You're a great player.

  • Excellent Bass composition. Why is it called solea? Just curious?

  • Hi Munizcir1, thanks for your comment.

It's called "Solea" just because it's an improvisation around many ideas I was practicing in that period, things that I put together following the inspiration of the moment and this is the same kind of thing that flamenco singers use to do when they sing the Solea "palos", they combine different verses following the inspiration of the moment, not always with a connecting line. But I'm not pretending to be a flamenco player, not at all.

  • Why, that's the sloppiest bass playing I've ever heard. Just kidding! It really is quite exceptional!! Thanks for sharing it.

  • Hi Bcrsix, thanks a lot for your comments, I'm glad you like my tunes.

  • SO GREAT!!! YOU ARE AMAZING!!! :O

  • very nice style !

  • awesome dominique style.. without the thumb pick!

  • you are one of the best bassist i've ever heard...you are a middle way between Matthew and Dominique..fantastic!
