@BENPLUNGERSPLUNKETT There's only 1 overhead, and it's just out of the camera's shot, pointing down the centre of the kit. Snare and floor tom mics are pointed about 2 inches into the drum, about 2 inches away from the head, pointing towards the centre. Rack tom mics are underneath pointing towards the centre. Kick drum mic is inside the middle of the drum pointing towards the beater.
@evenstevens280 Ok, I usually put 2 OH over the drum kit facing down; 15" from ur head, then mics on toms (LH top corner for 1st tom then RH top corner for 2nd tom & floor tom, clipped on prob 1 inch from TOP skins) snare is LH top corner bout 3" in from rim, 1" from top skin. Then kick drum mic is bottom LH corner about 7" up from bottom, 2" from skin. See if that helps, its only estimate measurements but see wat ya think.. =)
You have interpreted this song well. The sound of your kit is excellent - it's well tuned and your high hat technique is very fluid. I've listened to your other songs but this is the pick of the bunch. The acoustics of the room you recorded this in really augments your sound. I hope you are in a band - great talent like yours needs to be challenged so that it grows.
nicee love this song! Just a tip, you should check out the remo powerstroke 3! It gives the drums a much tighter sound! Like your snare ghosts BTW Great drum cover but check em out ^^
Daaaang. I love this! I play snare in band and i want a drum set soooo bad! :) My brother's friend is gonna help me more. I am 12 in 6th grade. IN LOVE WITH DRUMS.♥ this is awesome! :D
Hey man, the drummer on this record is my tutor, Andy Nixon, he has showed us the parts to this in class (Brighton Institute of Modern Music) and you did good man :)
One of the best drum covers I've seen. No improvisation, no funny business, just a straight play-along, and the equalization is really, really good. A++++ would watch again lol :)
the drummer who plays this track in the rec0rding album was DENNIS CHAMBERS!! btw this is the accurate 0ne in terms 0f hi-hats playing!!g00d j0b!! finally!! it t00k me t0 watch several vide0 results b4 i watch this!!!
Drummer is Andy Nixon according to wikipedia US, though french wikipedia lists Abe Laboriel Jr. which I've read somewhere else too. Definitely not Dennis Chambers, that's not his sound and style of playing.
And your info is coming from where? Not that I don't believe you but I really doubt it's Dennis Chambers and Wikipedia (twice) seem to concur with the fact that it's not him. I'll try to find the 3rd source that gives Abe Laboriel Jr. as being the drummer for this track.
@evenstevens280 your snare does sound hollow, but it doesn't need less bass it needs a tiny bit more with a mild EQ tweak put in at its upper mid range.
the way the light caught your arms in the video was very cool, added a very nice effect (reminds me of steve reichs piano phase video,)
there are 7 jealous individuals !! :)

i think the kick needs more lows, but either way good job, oh and the reverb on the snare has a little predelay, take that off
