Myst 1 and especially Riven were hands down the best out of the 6, in fact imo the other games don't really exist.

I loved the music in Myst, and it's a testiment to Robyn Miller's genius that it was just one of the ways he helped shape the unique atmosphere of this very atmospheric game. I even bought the "soundtrack!"

It's the fact you're alone in a mysterious and rather haunting world that sets the fear.

Riven (the sequel) does that even more.

Seems like almost everyone has something in common, they have played this with their dad, and scared the shit out of them. To this day this game still scares me and gives me the alone feel. I don't know why this game scares me, even though the games was not intended to be scary. Maybe it was the close up of the chopped off head in a basket. Maybe it was Achenar's torture chamber with the "snake-in-the-box" or the electric cage. Maybe it was the Channelwood age with the crusher machine?

yeah i first played this game when i was about 4-5 that kinda age range, shown by my brother, and fuckin hell it truly is scary. 100% you feel alone, and as if you are being watched. bloody creepy and such a classic.

haha funny story i was playing this for the first time. yea i used a walkthrough so i knew you wernt supposed to let ethier brother out. i just wanted to see what i would happen so i saved it right before i let them out and when i tried to open my saved game i accedentally saved it after i lost, i was like DAMN IT. i kicked over a chair :) good times

my dad showed me this game 13 years ago when i was about 5 years old. it has scared the crap out of me ever since - from the beginning when the a happy little piano tune turns into the wierd loud timpanis, to the "jumping in the book" and creepy music.
