While I’m here and write these lines with an ink stained with tears my thoughts are in the place that I call my homeland, VIETNAM, the land of BEAUTY, our land.
I don’t know much about life but I know I’m VIETNAMESE. That’s how I feel and that won’t change. Even if I don’t have much to show, this is my pride.
We’re all the same; we stick together. And wherever we are on earth, we have a common brotherhood...
(conclusion) Stronger dancers are over shadowing the weaker ones that are in the back. So don't be clownin on vsa modern.(contiuation)There are a lot of things you should work on as well. For their first time competing, with a huge team of new dancers..i give them props. Props for working hard night in and night out. CG <3's Vsa modern
(Continuation)In regards to burintriumphant comment..dont be so negative when you're trying to critique a team . It makes you sound as though you are far superior then them. From watching your performance(mt.Sac)it was long and there were too much freestyling. Not enough movement/transition changes. With a only a team of 15 or less there should be a lot more movement.
Wow..this is getting out of hand. VSA modern and Mt. Sac should battle it out at next yrs. Vsa hip hop competition.A lil tension between teams wont hurt,it makes you more motivated to be better and improve.
hey this is awesome no matter what.......props to you guys.....don't mind the negative comments..it's either "haters" or just ego maniacs who are afraid of up coming competition..KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
Sigh...why does someone leave such a bad comment...and letting others know, that what they say is either a put down or a response to provoke someone. Don't get me wrong, I was there at the show and saw the whole dance that UCI VSA did. To be honest. I myself will not lie that I said almost the same thing as "burintriumphant", but in different way. I am going to assume that "burintriumphant", knows a lot about hip hop or at least seen more then one dance team.
Hey...this team has a lot potential...the size of the team doesn't matter...if you can get the team to work on the same chemistry and the flow of dance towards the music, then having a large group of VSA dancers are not bad; unless you think "burintriumphant", that haveing like about 20 aprox dancers are not good...well...I seen more and about the same from other teams. I know that it would be wrong to kick someone off the team, just because they can't dance well enough.
When they really just want to learn how to dance or just to have fun with dancing or whatever reason they are on the team. This team barely started a while ago, just as you burintriumphant, started to learn how to walk, type, read, understand life itself, and etc...unless you happen to be born from natural talent, then I will like to see you famous one these days; besides using hardwork to get there.
Rateing the team (This is constructive criticism):
-I like the way they did the "guy likes girl" style into the dance. A bit common from what I've seen from other dances team, but its always good to show to someone who hasn't seen it yet.
-Music choice was awesome; no doubt I liked very much.
This is WARNING to anyone, espeically to burintriumphant. I myself have been dancing for about 1 year so far. My style (pop lock and etc...) and knowledge about the hip hop community and dance team is vast. I don't like to brag or boast about what I can do and can't do. I perfer to show it vs talk about it. I've met a few professional dancers who use the elements of hip hop and what I know, see, and experience is something more then what you see with your very eyes, burintriumphant.
I am just showing the love to all dancers and those who live to dance like me or dance to live or just want to do something different; whatever the case may be for them.
we KNOW that and we're working on that. but what if someone told you, you ruined the rest of the show. how does that motivate you to work harder? if anything that just depresses you and makes you want to quit. just learn to criticize properly next and speak english properly.
and the way you worded your comment was just a plain out insult, which included your opinions and what you felt about the show. what we want instead is what can we do to fix ourselves. i mean some of what you said was alright, you the parts telling us which part looked messy and whatnot. but you dont have to go saying stuff like you ruined CN. i mean if you just told us we were messy. we'd understand.
yeah..you have to understand that..we're not saying that we don't wanna hear criticism. we're all up for that. but they'res a difference between constructive criticism and just insulting.
As harsh as triumphant's comments may sound, some of them may have some truths. Triumphant, thanks for the heads up, although next time, try to word your comments into constructive criticism rather than just criticism. I think the fact that UCI got voted as the best CN for this year would say otherwise that modern dance killed the show. Do keep in mind though, as a few others have mentioned, only a handful of people have previous experience with hiphop dancing.
Most of the members are either new to hiphop and new to being on stage, but everyone has put a lot of effort and dedication into this, and I'm proud to be seen dancing along side with them (except for the 3 guys in pink at the end caressing each other). We're not competative, we're all here just to have fun, while dancing. Of course, thanks to your comments, we really worked hard on cleaning up our routines this week, like tonight everyone stayed til 2am in the parking structure cleaning.
(cont) And guys, try to take criticism with a grain of salt, suck it up, and use it to work harder. There's always room for improvements, as we found out the harsh way this time around. Don't let negative feedback ruin your fun, work harder and prove them wrong next time around.
(cont) And please refrain from bashing triumphant. We don't need to start a flame war on here, everyone take a chill pill, get rested, and let's have some fun tomorrow. Ðừng có cãi lộn nữa. Nếu không, tao đá đít hết tụi mày bây giờ. Ôh kê?! Gô tù xì-líp!
Good comment! Sure make you feel good but what about bad comment??? My Englighz SUCK! so im just trying to tell you wat I think about the dance, I didn't mean anything!!! i'm not trying to be a B*tch here!! the thing is if you want to become a good dancer "Learn to accept bad comment!" thatz wat i've learned from my teacher
"The hip hop dancez killed the show" -- Thatz wat I've heard from other peoplez. The thing is I just see 10/10 good commentz about this dance. no detail. I know that none of us wanna hear someone else talking shit or giving any bad commentz but you guyz want to improve rite?
Do you think we're happy when we eff up someone's piece? We feel really bad that we didn't perform it to their expectations. Even still, they don't say "you guyz suck" to us. They spend a lot of time trying to help us get better and encourage us to keep practicing.
Do you think you're godly at dancing? I understand criticism but what you're saying isn't commenting. It's out and out disrespecting us. We KNOW we didn't look good. We KNOW that only some of us are "naturals" at dancing. But we didn't spend two mother effin' weeks with over 6-7 hours each day practicing to get dogged on by some stuck-up bitch who thinks they're all that. Aight?
3. Instead as a fellow dancer you should encourage people to continue dancing to improve.
Your criticism does not seem to encourage but rather discourage as well as dismiss the effort the group has put in. I agree that a lot of what you said is true and that our performance is far from being flawless but maybe the method you said it, and possibly the way you wrote it, is far from being the most efficient way in giving criticism.
2. I don't know if you thought they were competitive group or maybe a group that performs a lot but even if you did know that judging and saying people are bad and that it ruined culture night might have been a bit too much on your part. There have been many dancers who come and watch us practice and saw our performance, those on competitive teams and others who I would believe to be better than a lot of us and even you, who would never even provide that sort of criticism.
1. In response to Burintriumphant: For a lot of the team VCN was their first big performance, whether it be dancing and/or performing in front of an audience. The team nearly doubled in size from our original core group but the goal of dancing for fun still is the main thing that we are trying to promote.
2...of course we wanna look good as a whole, but we also wanna give all our dancers the opportunity to be on stage and perform...it takes experience to get better...the team wasnt made for the 10 good ppl, it was made for the 30 who were willing to have 2 weeks of hell and stay up till sunrise dancing
1. constructive criticism is always appreciated so thank you burintriumphant for you input. but just so everyone knows..This dance team was made for anybody that wanted to try out hip hop/modern dance (watever you wanna call it) so 99% of this team are all beginners so i'm proud of them...yes...the set could be cleaner and it is hard to do dances with a lot of ppl..
Too Many People = MESSY, Less The Better!because look at the dance guy!, some people are not doing it full out, not doing it together sometime = thatz why its look so messy! ONe more thing: wait too long before start dancing between each song. u guy are doing free style, don't look so good. The acting parts are bad and longz. Over all, good move but messy.
continue: i was there at the show.the movez are awsome but when I look at the dancers. count down only 10 dancers are really good, others 20 are bad..only 10 can bust out those move.
Common! UCI need some real comment here guyyyyy.Okay True comment here, I love hip hop, I love UCI culture night. I love the hip hop dance team.... but its destroyz the show right from the begging!!!!!
u guys were borderline manly and going too far... :P Clearly the result of too much practice with each other. Some guys get "too comfortable" with each other XD
