Well, it's because it was more convenient for me to layer using one kind of pencil at a time. If I would have saved the eyes for last this time, I would have had to run through all the previous layers a second time. It was just a matter of convenience this time.

Just beautiful, I watch your videos and it makes me hungry to draw and create my own art. The drawing is so soft and round looking and very sensual. Angle of the pencil allows you to make broader strokes. A lot of lead is touching the paper...

...And it just looks so damn professional if you hold your pencil like that. :^)
