I work at a Chevy dealer....and had a Vette come in with the HUD yesterday. I like that its bright even in direct sun light...but I think if it was mine I wouldn't ever use it...seems like a distraction.

I've always found the HUD one of the most intriguing things about the Corvette, but doesn't it distract you while driving? I mean, doesn't the eye want to focus on the information and therefore lose focus on the road? I guess I'll find out soon. If all goes well, I'll buy a Corvette C5 Coupe this spring. There aren't a lot of them here in the Netherlands. At least not where I live. Can't wait to get one :-)
Thanks for the reply. You're right about the focus of the HUD. Two weeks ago, I bought a black C5 Coupe with HUD and I love it. It's not distracting at all and I find myself constantly looking at the HUD for information instead of the dials.

He's right. It's just a screen and a reflector. Kinda like the iPhone, Apple didn't invent anything, they just combined existing cheap technology in a elegant package.

not distracting. the image is focused at about the hood of the car so that its in focus when you're looking normally at the road

It's not a distraction at all...you actually see 'through' it. Fighters have used HUD for years.

Yes, Corvettes (w/HUD) have a g-meter with recall.
