  • isnt it anymore selled or why dont i find it

  • You could easily make it do full transition with one of those $39 programmable Exceed 6-channel radios.

Throttle, rudder, aileron, elevator on four channels. Make a designated fifth channel control by the variable rate nob to control the pitch of the rotors.

  • I am interested in Quad coptor flight but most seem to be a bit expensive to learn on. Will this be a better alternative in learnig to fly a quad coptor than a trditional helicoptor. Thanks agin for your great vids.

  • Wonderful video. You should be on the history channel. Thank you for the lesson. I'm new to the hobby and I find it always best to learn about the history of any thing your intersted in to futher advance. . We are lucky to have such an experienced flight specialist so easily accesable. I am also vey interested in Quad coptors but want to have a foundation in helicoptors first.. Thanks again.

  • hi Dave, if you find the time, please check this vid, this one goes to awesome forward airplane flight and back to heli mode, youtu(dot)be / 5ySVGx71SSI

    Enjoy !

  • @beverke7 sorry but cannot put link (just add dot were I wrote it and delete the spaces after be) :-)

  • now make it all one bladed props ;P

  • one hell of a list of fames-to-claim man!

  • I HAVE TO SAY THE SAME THANKS FOR TAKING MY WORD wpockl

  • Great videos! I had to subscribe. You are an rc god!

  • I just don't get the people that moan about the extra details you get in Daves vids. So much more interesting than just a straight review vid. Don't stop making videos Dave you bring something special to the RC review vids that i really enjoy, i could listen to your stories / history all day lol.

You certainly have lead an interesting life so far, heres looking forward to the next 30+ years and all the exciting new developments in RC flight!

    Awesome Vid as Always Mate!

  • It just seems like a dual prop helicopter to me, with the ability to slightly tilt the props. I would be very interested if and when they start selling a larger model that actually transitions into airplane mode. Otherwise, its just a helicopter that resembles an Osprey

  • my father was instrumental for this plane actually making it to the marine corps the project was almost scrapped (After killing some marines) the marine corps is training ch 46 and ch 53 pilots to fly this plane it is too bad for clinton because it is his fault i am not the crewcheif on this bird in real life oh well civilian life has treated me well

  • awesome video! already had respect from watching your other vids but jeez... i now feel like i need to follow up everything i say to you with "Sir". Thanks for sharing the history!

  • Oh Dave!!!!! that is awesome!! i would have loved to be with you and discover and experiment all those steps!!!! as Always... a fun and informative video!! Thanks!

    Cheers

    rcwilli

  • WTH, this is the most random stream of consciousness video ever. It starts with 7 minutes of bragging and random bits of history, while showing pics of the Osprey, and then like 2 minutes about the actual plane.

  • wow another facinating video dave thanks for you time,,

  • Dave, you have a very amazing history. I am honored for what you have shared with us. Thank you.

  • Fly the .FUCKING PLANE. shit

  • That's a great story as per usual! Have you seen the guy that made the blue foam V-22 from two CCPM helis? At one time they were for sale (for something like $1,500) although the fit and finish was not that great. This is still the only tilt-rotor I've seen that can transition to full-forward flight. I always thought it would be a great project to figure it all out, just don't have the time personally....

  • If people like yourself dave didnt experiment with new ideas ,then modeling might be a little different today ..

  • @spektrum33 Thanks Kindly. Yep who knows, but I guess I will always be trying something new or different for sure. And if it helps someone else succeed, I will be happy.

  • Your vids are amazing Dave by far my favorite YouTube channel! How bout making a video about the history of rc from your eyes for us to enjoy?! Keep up the awesome work!!

  • Great story! Love it Dave! Been watching you for years but this is just great!

  • @mfasouletos Thanks very much for your kind words.

  • i still recomend the silverlite FULL TILT ROTOR sure that looks great but it does nothing but hover the full tilt ACCTUALLY FLYS all be it not fantastic only 2chn but it does work check out my channel and to be fair im not the greatest flier in the world

  • Hi dave! Great video and I always enjoy the infos regarding the "rc history" your definitly a big part of. BUT: I could even enjoy your vids more if there wasnt that techno music in the background. Thanks, rcschim :-) if you wanna see a tricopter fpv vid visit my channel!

  • so it does not transition huh?

  • @LTF85199 Well if flies forward fast enough for me, as you can see, but to go into full forward flight, would require an additional set of Ailerons, Rudders, and an Elevator. Then you would need about an 8 ch radio and 3 more servos. So for what this is, it still looks pretty cool to me in the air.

  • Hi, I was wondering if you could do a review on the Parrot AR Drone?

    Thanks :)

  • @SlavjanA Sure, send me one.....

  • at last you got an Osprey . I'm not sure if you remember but i told you about the art tech osprey about a year ago ..

will you be doing a Halloween special video this year ????

all the best from Scotland , Barry.

  • @Bthackrey Hello Scotland. Yes, I remember. At the time, I think they only had the K-22 version, but none the less, when I heard the Osprey V 22 had been improved, I decided to finally go for it. It would take elevator, rudder, and aileron servos to go into full transition, still, but this one goes fast enough for me in the dark.... Thanks for the Comments.

  • Awww, I was hoping the engines can tild the full 90 degree and allows it to fly like a true plane just like the real thing.

  • @danshyu Well if flies forward fast enough for me, as you can see, but to go into full forward flight, would require an additional set of Ailerons, Rudders, and an Elevator. Then you would need about an 8 ch radio and 3 more servos....what could go wrong, eh? LOL Thanks.

  • @NightFlyyer ...you are one of the legend.in rc history....keep up your effort old timer..

  • Very interesting!

  • I like your vids your a smart guy.

  • How come the motors don't tilt to an airplane mode. Dave you need to redesign this flying machine to act like the real one. Back to your workshop and see if you can attach a servo to allow the blades to tilt.

  • @photobart1 The blades do tilt, as you can see better in my NIght Flying video of it, but only about 20 degrees each way. But it flies forward fast enough for me, as you can see, but to go into full forward flight, would require an additional set of Ailerons, Rudders, and an Elevator. Then you would need an 8 ch radio and 3 more servos. So for what this is, it at least still looks pretty cool to me in the air.

  • My question is - what good is this? I mean, why make an Osprey that doesn't do normal forward flight like an airplane? Basically, what you have here, is a tandem rescue with tilting blades.... with an Osprey body. I'm sorry - I just don't get the excitement, and ESPECIALLY the price tag.

  • I wonder why they can't make one that picks up flys like a plane, and then come back to a stop, and land. That would be awesome to try.

Now that is still hard to do. Nice plane night flyer.

  • It doesn't transition to forward flight?

  • Everytime i watch your videos, I gain so much knowledge or I buy something an turn out to be pretty happy with it. I think you made Xheli and Nitroplanes so famous! Great Job! Never stop making great videos!

  • "Our friends were doin this stuff 20 years ago" Dave I Live by this saying, why reinvent the wheel? great work

  • You are the most AWESOME dude I actually don't know!

  • Great video Dave. Just an idea i had could you mix the heli and plane to create one of the worlds best stunt planes? Perhaps some tail rotors on a plane and the maneuverability would be intense, just a fun idea that maybe you could experiment with?

  • Thanks for sharing your history with us New-Be's! - Totally Awesome!

  • Dang it! I leave town for a week and you go and get something really frickin' cool! lol. Can't wait to see it fly in person when I get home. Great video, Mr. Herbert. That's awesome!

    ~Jeff

  • @Winston51249 Thanks kindly. Haha. Get here quick, as I now have lights on it. Wanna video it at Ocheyedan tonight? Call me...

  • Dave, Love your video's as you know. I must also say i have been in RC flying for many years, like you. Also i think i have read all your publications, You are 1 of a few pioneers in this hobby. I smile, now a day's when i too here or read of new idea's. in the hobby. Keep um coming. Dave......

  • @sootydave1 Thanks very kindly for your comments. I truly appreciate them. Thanks for the long time support too.

  • Another excellent well put together video with lots of history and info! I'm suprised that you haven't gotten the GoPro hd camera yet though, it really is a solid tough camera with great video! I'll be posting a video I made with it on my plane in a few hours, if you'd care to check it out that'd be real nice! Anyway, great flying and great history!

  • You should write a book with all your history in the military and RC work, with pics and articles, I would buy it in a second :-)

  • @Skydive4ever Ha ha... I appreciate your comments. I guess Youtube IS my book!. Thanks again for the long time support. Dave

  • @NightFlyyer In that case, I'm ready for another page, keep 'em coming ;-)

  • another great lesson dave! thanks!

  • I love how all of your videos are so well put together. I love hearing about the history behind all of the stuff we take for granted these days. Makes you really respect the time and effort that went into today's technology.

  • @ThatGuyWhoFanDubs Thanks very kindly for your comments. I appreciate that.

  • I cant wait until they make one that will fly in all modes of CV-22 flight. Airplane and helicopter.

  • @mezapu They do...It is just way more costly.

  • @NightFlyyer Several of us that fly them for real have purchased about everything we can get our hands on, but nothing that seemed both true to form and fun to fly in VTOL and airplane modes. In due time I expect.

  • @mezapu Thanks for your comments. I appreciate that. They do make full scale models, but they are quite pricey. Not as expensive as yours, but definitely more than mine. Semper Fi.

  • @mezapu They do its made by Rotormast and its costs about $1000. Pretty cool though.

  • Thanks for Sharing Dave !

  • aw man i thought it was going to be like the real one

  • Can you actually tilt the rotors? (If not, how long until you make it so you can tilt the rotors?)

    Great video!

  • @iamtherealzim Yes, the rotate about 20 degrees for and aft.

  • Great video as always. Very much appreciated! :-)

  • best video in over a year, the history and everything was great

  • @flyingchimp99 Thank you sir. I appreciate that, form one flyer to another.

  • i think this model doesnt really worth the $150.

now if the thing can tilt foward for airplane mode, and then back into heli mode and land vertical then that would be impressive.

but just hover and land, a few people on RCgroups already did it a few years ago.

  • @StewieRc Well, I guess it was worth it to me, being a retired Marine, you know? There is no elevator, ailerons or rudder on this, so forward flight is similar to flying a CH 46 sideways. I know about the other scale tilt rotors too, and they are more costly than $150. Besides, this is brand new electronic technology, so I went for it due to my helicopter experience. Thanks for your comment.

  • for me fpv is just knowing that the plane is way out there......kilometres away

  • @flyingchimp99 Except that it is out of range there too.... You cant go that far unless you have military frequencies.

  • @NightFlyyer google dragonlink or check out alishanmao's videos on chainlink and you will be impressed

  • @flyingchimp99 Yep ,saw it before and with good range. Did you know that to fly it with AMA insurance you have to have a Spotter that can see the airplane at all times, while standing next to the pilot? That limits distance too. Anyway that is a great system all right. It is( to me) way more exciting to be flying straight down the runway at 100 MPH, inverted with ailerons, elevator and rudder backwards as looking straight at it, you know. I'm not for backseat driving as I said in the video.

  • the Osprey is an awesome heli, nice to see an R/C model, I hope to fly an R/C VTOL once, being able to hover and go to forward flight and back to hover would be a blast ! Nice to know that Vic is from Belgium like me, yeah belgians made some pretty awesome stuff in those days lol Nice vid Dave, thx for sharing.

  • @beverke7 Thanks very much for your comments. Yep, Did you know Vick by chance? I would love to hear from him. You guys have some incredible minds, for sure. Again thanks and thanks for your long time support too!

    Dave

  • @NightFlyyer I don't know Vic but should I ever meet or have contact with him, you will be the first to know Dave !

  • I saw a real V-22 the other day, looked brilliant at night, especially with the bladetip lights on.

  • @NastyNatey Awesome, huh? Stay tuned.

  • I love the history lessons! We too often overlook how this great hobby got to where it is today.

  • @magicman9493 Thanks very kindly. It is my hope that others can improve upon what we have learned in the past instead of starting over so often, hence the history. I appreciate your comments.

  • That is a very cool looking bird. I would have really loved to see a transition into forward flight and back to hover. Thanks for the modeling history on helis, Semper fi

  • @wildhover There is not much to see, as the rotors only tilt about 20 degrees. There is no elevator to control it in forward flight, but it goes fast enough for me. Make sure to see the Night Flying video of it next. I'll try to get closer. Thanks kindly for your good words and Semper Fi back at you.

  • I like my full tilt VTOL better, Mine tilts :D great video either way!

  • dude, that is awsome.

  • you are cool i dont know you but im SUBING AND LIKEING

  • @cycool100 Thanks so very kindly. Wait til you see the night flying...
