I was in a band with Dave Berry in 1979/80 and prior to been on tour with Dave we were the band who had a little bit of swagger, Did not do weddings well but we rocked in pubs and paid for the gear we needed in the working mens clubs.
We were given a Dave Berry greatest hits album and we learn the basics from that album. Our versions of the DB songs were less traditional and we had two guitarists that emulated Thin Lizzies guitar sound.
So many singers carry on years after they should have hung up their microphones. Gladly, Dave didn't. The voice, the humour & presentation are spot on.

Just read the story of this song in Dave Berry's autobiography - 'Dave Berry - All There Is To Know'. It earned him a Gold Disc - presented to him in a shipyard!
This is a very haunting and nostalgic song. I think Dave Berry's version is Absolutely Brilliant! I also think anyone who posts derogatory comments about it must be quite soulless.
What happened to the 60's version of this song? It's wonderful. Wish Adam Lambert would cover it. I hadn't heard of Dave Berry till recently. Wow, he was ahead of his time. I guess the U.S. didn't know what to make of him.
I first saw dave berry around1959-60. He was good then but now hes brilliant! I usually see him 2or 3 times a year. Always makes me feel happy and always very professional. Long may he keep singing. Thanks Dave.
Seen Dave in concert a few weeks ago in Woking. He was superb every song a gem. An outstanding accoustic version of Going Back.great rock and roll covers + all the hits and great chat. Long may he continue. thanks Dave for the memories i took away from your act.
I remember reading a piece in the paper about 20 yrs ago about Dave. A guy was staying in hotels around the UK pretending to be Dave then NOT paying the bill!!!!!

I did not see Terminator 2. He is just a 1960's memory for me and I think the song is good. Thanks for your comment.

The Kinks version (live BBC) is much better than this. ... But it should be, considering Ray wrote it

Looks like Dave's had one too many face lifts. Unfortunately, they've also had a strange effect on the way he moves.
Still a great song.
