  • This gun is basically a glock. Nothing new.

  • How did it feel with the large backstrap though... it seems you made comments on the ergonomics, but not after fitting to you.

  • Sturmgewehr they are now calling this one the mafiyya stopper in Berlin. This one is the hicap of the future. Informative precise review. Rommel or Jeff Cooper couldn't have done it better. Hopefully some Americans who still love their freedoms will take heed that home-storming by black zombie posses requires two 15 round hicap mags on tap. Heil to you.

  • The PPQ's implementation of that type of mag release is sooo much easier to use than all the others on the market. H&K's are awkward, as you have to contort your finger backwards to activate it.

  • Brilliant review. Thanks!

  • Dude, you should have rolled up in a Volkswagon

  • I wish Walther would make this gun in a two-tone.

  • I bought my guns at Blythes!!!! lol in Indiana

  • Nice review. I was thinking about picking up a G19 but am not a huge fan of the ergonomics. All of the reviews I watch for this talk about how excellent the trigger and feel of this pistol are, so I am definitely going to have to get some range time at a local shop before making my final decision. Thanks!

  • Thank you for pronouncing "ambidextrous" correctly!

  • @hforrest What, you don't like the word "am-bee-dex-tree-ous" that most people use???

  • @hforrest Yes, same here and that's because Sturmgewehre is educated. His videos are very detailed and straightforward. Very intelligent guy.

  • I found my Springfield XDM to be very reliable. Haven't had 1 misfire, even with the cheapest ammo. But then again Glock has a longer track record so I don't dispute their reliability.

  • Hey just to let you know, the slide and barrel is Tennifer coated. Similar to a Glock. Also good review!

  • M&P. nuff said.

  • I own 3 Walther pistols, all have the same mag release. To use mine I use my middle finger on my trigger hand and press down. It makes it a lot easier for me to use.

  • do you think it would be a safe ccw despite the lightness of the trigger?

  • Comment removed

  • Sounds like a really well built gun

  • I own a Glock 19 and hate the grip on it even on the gen 4 is not all that great but this pistol is awesome specially for guys with small hands like me.

  • This is by far the best pistol review I have ever seen on youtube. Well prepared and covered all points and honest about pros and cons. Ohh by the way that is some kick ass accurate shooting. I'm sold with this baby, I'm getting one in 40 cal for sure. Thx again and keep up the excellent work.

  • Have you ever shot Russian ammo through the Walther?

  • too bad walther doesn't make 10 round mags for this gun. I am interested.

  • @808Arsenal I have seen baby eagle mags that I've read everywhere work in a Walther PPQ? Don't quote me on that haha

  • @808Arsenal I've read everywhere that baby eagle makes 10 round 9mm magazines that work in the Walther PPQ. Don't quote me on that one. check into it

  • @KentJSmith yeah but the biggest problem is that because the gun doesn't have 10rd mags straight from the factory, no dealers want to bring in guns like that. Which is why it's extremely hard to find xdm's here because there's no 10rd factory mags.

  • Outstanding vid. I was on the fence between a couple Walthers, and you gave a comprehensive review worth a ton of value.

Hats off to the marksmanship. Parris Island would be proud of you.

    Thanks very much, friend.

  • Awesome review on a very nice pistol. And the shooting wasn't bad either!!

  • I've had my PPQ for three weeks now, about 500 rounds fired, using PMC Bronze and Federal ammo with no misfires or jams at all. This is my first handgun so far very pleased. It really does feel great in the hand, it's like hand narcolepsy, love this gun.

  • This has probably been mentioned before, but the HK and Walther style magazine releases aren't designed to be used with the thumb; most use either the middle or index finger.

  • What do you think is the most reliable handgun? The AK-47 among the handguns?

  • @common01230 I would say the most reliable handgun in my experience is the Glock 17 (Gen 1, 2 or 3).

  • @Sturmgewehre M&P 9.

  • @common01230 SIG SAUER IS A TANK!

  • Great Ron Paul ad, he's really the man for really really real.

  • Very VERY good review. My hats off to you sir!

  • im with hsnmz is it better than the P99 or SW99

  • is it better than sr9c?

  • if given a choice between P99 and PPQ, which one do you think is better. I will be buying one soon so want to chose the better one

  • @hsnmz they are different, I like the trigger on the ppq better. And the rail and ergo... ppq imho is better.

  • I've got to handle the .40 S&W version , you are right the trigger is VERY good.

  • Damn your good at shooting! Great video.

  • The slide is Tenifer coated. It is a nitrocarburizing process that is the same as is used on the Glock.

  • Just picked up a PPQ and its is all that is advertised.

  • This is gona be my next 9mm, Such a nice gun.

  • Super review - Subscribed! I'm interested in this PPQ and have watched several other reviews. More then one person has commented that the only flaw seems to be that S&W here in the US apparently installs the sights on the PPQ and does a lousy job of it, sometimes dinging or denting the slide around the rear sight area. Have you seen any evidence of this (or anyone else?) Other then that, I haven't heard a bad thing about this pistol. I want one in .40 cal. Thanks for the great pro review!

  • i hate it when a pistol operates like a glock, just get a glock rather that an imitation glock.

  • @arianastephensonian I was interested in a GEN 4 Glock because I'm a "lefty" and the Gen 4 offers ambidexterous useage. However the GEN 4s have issues, spring recalls (ok - minor) but also trigger problems too since Glock changed the trigger mechanism in all Gen 4s. As much as I wanted to own oneitisn't a wise purchase until Glock first admits and then fixes the problems. Glock "Perfection" is gone my friend. I'll get the better Walther PPQ instead, thank you.

  • @SmithUSAWesson Point taken.

  • @arianastephensonian Let me guess. You have one pistol and it is your first pistol, a glock...

  • Great review. The best I've seen on the PPQ.

  • Excellent review. Will be adding one to my stable tomorrow if in stock at local gun shop.

  • Subscribed. Nice work.

  • Excellent review - in a different league to the usual YouTube efforts.

  • this guy is great...i'm subbing.

  • SUBSCRIBED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  • VERY GOOD GUN CHANNEL...14 MIN OF EVERYTHING ABOUT THE GUN...NO TIME WASTED :D

  • Wow you have deadly accuracy! kudos!

  • woah! Love the sound of that gun firing!

  • What is the song in the beginning?

  • @f0xmuld3r

Actually H&K copied the Walther P99 in many respects.

  • Thank you Poland ;)

  • My first thought was: they copied my H&K P30. Except the H&K has a wider mag release. Then you show the P30... Funny....

  • you make better videos than nutnfancy. just subscribed.

  • Great video, always very high quality. I recently purchased the PPQ. They only thing I can complain about is that there are portions of the frame that scratch VERY easily. I realize that guns are tools and get scratches, etc. But a finger nail is enough to put scuffs on the frame...

  • Great review. Succinct, to the point and very informative. Im subscribing

  • Excellent review! Great presentation and information.

  • 12:45 where did you get that steel slide on your G19? thanks :)

  • @evymetal95 all glock slides are steel :)

  • @jimmyhoffa9 oh really? great news! i thought glocks were full polymer. just your slide looked lighter. thanks :)

  • nice video - check out this video .youtube.com/watch?v=l4nVdnUcu5o

    or w w w.ascev.de

  • Exceptional review of the PPQ. Thorough and insightful. Glad you mentioned about the defensive carry of this gun and the AS trigger. I had the P99 AS and it is quite light, and it doesn't take much pressure to fire. I feel the SRT on the Sig's to be similar in that training and caution are required for defensive carry. I'm contemplating one of these or the HK P30L.. One other way to release the mag, the one i use on my HKs is to use the thumb and trigger finger at the same time, works very well

  • This is the best handgun I've ever owned. I'll soon be shedding my Glock 19. The PPQ blows the Glock out of the water.

  • Nice review of the Walther PPQ. I purchased both the 9mm and the 40 S&W in the same model about 7 weeks ago and love both. I have no problems with the magazine release myself. Look forward to seeing your other videos.

  • Great video and your watch goes quite well with it. Even though I live in Illinois I just bought a S&W 632 from Blyths and they were great to deal with, I highly recommend them. Thanks for your very informative videos.

  • Great review. I've been seriously considering getting hold of a PPQ. I currently have a PPS, and I absolutely love it. If it is indicative of Walther's quality, then I'm sure I'd be pleased with the PPQ. Regarding the mag release, I don't have a problem switching back and forth between Walther and Glock. I do use my index for the Walther's mag release, and find that it is much more easily actuated the more forward (closer to the muzzle) it is depressed. Excellent channel. Gonna subscribe.

  • Excellent video. The Gold Dot's got some respectable muzzle flash uh?

  • Pretty sure your PPQ may be microchipped. Form whatever opinions you wish...

  • @SentryGunleather The US firearms do not have the chip in them. Walther issued a statement saying that the US guns would include the backstraps that have the same symbol but without the chip. Walther also said that they would replace the backstrap with a plain one on request from US customers.

  • @10:23-27 Angle makes that Walther look beastly.

  • @sturmgewehre How does it compare to the new Steyr m?

  • Outstanding review and video! I'm seriously thinking of checking out this gun and I think you've just convinced me along with NutnFancy to try it out. I really appreciate the time and effort by folks like you in putting this together. Thumbs up all the way! BTW, any issues at all with the gun since this review?

  • I'm very excited about this gun, but my only concerns are 1- the sights, how easy is it to swap the sights when they come available. 2- Availability and price of magazines since it is an import. 3- availability of holsters.

As with any new handgun on the market it takes time for accessories to show up and it depends on the popularity of the gun, but I'm willing to wait for accessories if the gun is as good as they say it is. Thanks for the review. Very excited about this one.

  • are the sights on the walther ppq made of plastic?

    thank you.

  • Good video..thank you

  • nice group!

  • do you think the MIC holster for the P99 fits the PPQ?

  • I own a Glock 19 and you show me this. Great trigger and very accurate. Man, my gun list is getting longer. Already purchased 4 guns this year.

  • OMG This thing is a frigg'in tack driver.

Can't wait till mine ships next week.

Sturm sold me yet another firearm. lol

  • @TheQ3XXX Your CZ 75 was an excellent choice though, great gun and super accurate. Good luck.

  • Oh, BTW Jetguns.com $489.00!!

  • @rogermcgee1 that's wonderful....i can't wait till the price of the mags drop from 40-50 dollars a pop though :/

  • @GrenMoyo Ouch. Hey, get the MecGars for the PPQ. I hear they're cheaper and as we all know, just as good.

  • @rogermcgee1 oh wow...I didn't know they made Mec Gars for the PPQ I thought they were for the P99...i guess i should go and look harder xDDD

  • @GrenMoyo

p99 mags fit in the ppq

  • @7jospeh7 the newer ones yeah, i know. But I was looking there are mags by Magnum Research that actually fit it better and they are about 35ish.

  • Great review, thanks. Just placed my order for the PPQ 9mm. A MUST HAVE for the collection. :)

  • Very informative review. The trigger of the one PPQ 9mm I handled/dry fired a few months ago did not impress me--the initial short takeup seemed quite gritty--but conversely the .40SW next to it did. Both had amazing resets, but the .40SW's trigger action was far smoother overall. Ergo was very much like my P30, but for me CZ 75s are still the best. Would be tempted by the .40SW if I didn't have so many others already. So many great pistols out there, not enough money.

  • great review, i'd be super-psyched if you did a side-by-side between the PPQ and the HK P30, or even a stand-alone P30 review....they seem to be hitting the same niche of high ergo double-stack pistols (albeit at very different price points)...cheers

  • For those who have owned or shoot both the PPQ and P99, how's the recoil/ muzzle flip? I used to own a P99AS...my only gripe was the heavy recoil spring...how does this PPQ compare?

  • I must admit I looked at the video thumbnail and thought oh yeah just another p99, but after watching that, the PPQ just blew my mind especially the tight off hand group! Always loved walther but seriously WOW.

  • Which one would you choose first the glock 17 9mm or the ppq 9mm.... I'm in a rut on which one to own

  • Something you didn’t mention. Does it have a magazine disconnect safety?

  • It's worth noting that the magazines are made by Mec-Gar, the same company that makes OEM magazines for SIG, CZ, Beretta, and others. Top quality. Also top price. However, it is compatible with P99 magazines, and magazines from P99 clones like the SW99 and the Desert Eagle FA. The Desert Eagle magazines also appear to be Mec-Gars, and are less expensive than the ones from Walther.

  • This is not really new, it's been around for a couple of years as the P99 RAD, a variant of the P99 made for the Polish military by Walther in cooperation with Fabryka Broni of Radom. The PPQ is just the rebranded, 100% Walther model.

  • Oh, hey, I just checked Walther's page for the PPQ and in the specs they're saying that coating on it is Tenifer--same as what Glocks use and it's about the best you can get in terms of coatings, very cool.

  • Speaking of the P30, are we going to get a review of that? I'd really love to see someone do a proper review of an HK with the LEM trigger (I'm particularly interested in the P30 and P2000), there's NOTHING on those that I can find on YouTube.

  • Are you able to shoot such tight groups with your Glock 19 as you did with that PPQ?

  • IMO the Walther PPQ resembles and functions like a Hammer-Less, H&K USP/ H&K .45. I'd like to check one out. Great review!

  • Use your middle finger--much easier than index.

  • Thanks for the professional review.

PPQ serves best trigger&ergonomics on the market.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow good job there.

  • It is a Tenifer finish like the Glock slides.

  • In addition, I love the mag release. I am an old Marine and learned on Colt 1911s, and I had no trouble adjusting to the Walther mag release.

  • Great review. I have owned both the P99AS and the P99QA, but didn't like their triggers. In my opinion, the PPQ's slide design and the trigger system is a definite improvement over the P99. The PPQ is the pistol design I have been waiting for. If Walther pistols had better sights, the PPQ would be as close to perfect as it gets. As a CCW, it may be a little on the heavy side, as I am used to my PPS. I am a big Walther fan, and the PPQ is the best yet, and it is my new "go to gun."

  • Might have to check on of these out, sounds like a great gun.

  • Hey Sturm, great review like always,

However Walther if your reading this... wtf were you thinking, don't muck with the mag release button!!! I will not be picking one of these up.

  • @IowaCoffee

This type of mag release is standard for law enforcement over in Europe, so it would only make sense for a European made firearm.

  • @IowaCoffee agree ruined the gun for me

  • Wow, can anyone say HK P30 rip off?

  • great video , thanks .

  • Good review ! I ordered1 from my local gun shop/ range should have it by friday

702.00 after sales tax, look forward to see how it works for me BTW good shooting !

  • Great Review...looked at a couple of Walthers.....

    Thanks for the review...

    E1

  • 15 yards that would be hard for me to get that group off hand shooting at that speed good job

  • That gun has the best factory trigger reset on any gun I have ever fired...and I have fired lots.

  • @talisman9000

Try a 1911 for the best trigger on a fighting handgun.

    Pat

  • @Alaskapopo When I made my comment about the PPQ, I am purely talking about the trigger RESET and not the complete trigger itself.

  • nutnfancy can learn a lot from you !!

  • Excellent vid, and 'what I like to call a dingus' made me LOL

  • Thank you for a good straight to the point review

  • @Sturmgewehre

This video came out at the perfect time. I have been looking at an alternative to my Glock 19 for a CCW, not as a replacement but just as another option. Saw this video and I am even more excited about it than before. Will be contacting my FFL dealer soon!

BTW, you have some of the best reviews and general videos of any gun reviewer on youtube. Truly commendable work. It is easy to see that you take pride in what you do.

  • The magazine release is a training issue that I could work. Although accuracy was incredible, I think Walther is coming out with it a bit late for me. I already have a Glock 19 that I am happy with.

I hope you are getting compensated somehow for the videos. Thanks for tor the Review.

  • I was not really interested in the pistol but watched

because of your interesting, concise reviews. Glad

    I did.

  • I have not been able to find a SERPA holster for the PPQ. Do you know if it the SERPA P99 holster would work for it?

  • @feitnaa Walther states that the dimensions of the PPQ and P99 are identical, but the trigger guard is different which may affect the SERPA. So I suggest we compare the two together at the store to see how much different the trigger guard is and see. Looks close enough to me. Otherwise test a Q in a 99 SERPA if they have one.

  • it looks a little bit like the smith and wesson m&p 9mm.

  • Nice review.

    Ahahah "dingus."

    Where's the limp wrist test?

  • Very Nice

  • Looks HK-ish to me.

  • ...lol at dingus...if it wasn't a real word you should have coined it and sold the rights to Glock.

  • hey sturm i think you would realy like the s&w m&p series. my mother has an m&p .40cal duty gun and i have the 9mm version its like a wayyyy more ergo glock.

feels so nice in the hand

  • @fetus2genius1 I have a M&P 9mm, I'll post a review of it in a few weeks. Thanks for watching.

  • @Sturmgewehre How do the two compare? I like M&P 9c quite a bit. Good egos, has been very reliable. trigger isn't awesome but we have the apex option. Isn't my most accurate handgun though...

  • just another similar glock clone

  • You should use your index finger, it's quicker and more natural...

  • @VideoGameFallout I have, as I pointed out in my video. However, I've found it to be neither quicker nor more natural. I found it to be quite unnatural. I realize others may prefer this method. But with my long fingers using either my thumb or my index finger requires me to shift my grip, something I prefer not to do in a fighting handgun.

  • @Sturmgewehre Makes sense, I have smaller hands so it is easier for me to use my index finger...

  • @Sturmgewehre I've found using the middle finger works best. Index finger stays along the side of the frame in ready position, the same as it would when using a more traditional magazine release. You shouldn't have to shift your grip, maintains good trigger discipline, and it gives you a little bit of extra leverage.

  • Awesome review man! Love your vids

  • Nice review. Makes me want to buy one. Looks thinner than the Glock 19. Should I ever decide I want a mid-size 9mm, it looks like the PPQ would go on the list along with a Glock 19, SR9C and so on. Since it is still a brand new gun, in time, holster selection will improve.

  • Hey, if you ever get ahold of a Steyr M9-A1, I'd really appreciate a review of it. I don't really trust any of the other gun reviewers on Youtube to do it, to be honest.

  • Oh dear Lord. You were trying your damnedest to look cool during the range test. :p

  • Guns & Ammo magazine featured a test of this pistol in their latest issue. They also like it. I think they did a factory tour as well.

  • Looks and feels like the 2007-2008 SW P99.

  • Why dont test it with some wolf ammo too? its what people use most for the training and fun, and its surely what they want to know.

  • love your side man :) do you buy all tour guns or do you get them for free as a test

  • I can tell you what's wrong with this gun without ever having seen one .. S&W Customer Service !

  • The Q refers to Walther's new QUICK DEFENSE trigger system. So the name is something like Police Pistol, QUICK DEFENSE trigger (PPQ).

  • walther is pronounced 'vaulter'

  • So that's what it would look like if a glock and P30 got busy.

  • as well at 50 yards i can do around 6 inch groups cant go wrong.

  • You've got one of the best gun channels on Youtube right now. Keep up the good work.

  • the p99 as has a 3.5lb pull. i dont think they should of made the gun its not bad but the p99 is amazing lol...

  • Spot-on review. You didn't mention bore axis, which is something I think a lot of shooters way overrate in terms of importance. I totally agree that the trigger on the PPQ is the best of any polymer striker-fired gun I've tried, at least compared to guns that haven't been modified. Nicely done, and good shooting.

  • The Walter PPQ, Now if they made a Walter "BBQ" then we could get thing to cooking.
