Arrest him instead (check this, but I believe assault of a child is an arrestable and indictable offence and thus allows for citizens to perform an arrest) or have him arrested.

I know one time at a Tournament of Bands, a judge abruptly walked right next to me, and I had to go where he was, so I knocked him right over in time, and accidentally stepped on him during a move, so he got mutilated by my steps and by a few others, but we went totally unaffected.
