  • You pronounce it as a ksavyay

  • What are your thoughts of the Xavier vs Agile? Anyone?

  • @arroligavideos well to me, both look pretty cool, but Iwould preffet for strats and teles a Xaviers, but for a Les Paul an Agile AL3000 or higher.

  • @Macsk8ing Thanks for the reply. Have you or has anyone tried the Xavier XV-300?

  • @arroligavideos Not really XD, but the Agiles Strats and Teles look cheap as hell, I've tried an Agile Les Paul and those are really nice guitars.

  • Hi,

    Cool guitar Dude!

Is that the Sonic Blue or Surf Green color?

    Thanks,

    Hector Soliz

  • @hsoliz It is sea foam green.

    Greets

  • This review is really wonky. Lots of wrong words used for stuff, could make it confusing for beginners.

  • High prices American Labor? So you would prefer sweat shop labor and Chinese made crap? This makes me sick. I'll gladly pay TOP DOLLAR for items made in the USA. They are just simple better made. Now when the quality of USA made items is not as good as over-seas crap, we have a problem.

  • @Shanelee33 Have you ever seen pictures of the Gibson and Fender plants IN the USA? Nearly all immigrants from south of the border. I'd pay top dollar for any vintage American guitar, but these days the price tag just doesn't reflect the craftmanship in the factories.

  • @MrAldorman Have you been to any of them? Go to the gibson plants in Memphis and Nashville. You won't see immigrant laborers doing anything with a guitar. I've worked at both. Everyone that touches a gibson guitar is very well qualified to do what they do.

  • I went to their website and I saw that they make Jazzmaster-style guitars with normal P-90s and it looks awesome in seafoam green, I'm getting one!

  • Great amps....do make a big difference in any guitar sound. I have a Gibson GA17rvt Scout that I bought new in 1965, all tube with 10 inch speaker, 15 amps I think, but will never give it up! I have other amps...but use the Gibson the most!...poppa

  • I personally think the amp affects tone more than the guitar

  • a friend told me, that this guitar has a very distincitive sound ,the factory setup is not very good, but it can be solved.

similar quality can go for 600 bucks.

  • The factory setup can be solved to your preferences in an hour or less and yes.. these are great guitars that rival guitars that go for much much more. They make a copy of a Gibson 335 that is incredible!

It ain't always the name on the headstock that gets the job done.

  • You da Man ! Always an interesting video.

  • i'm sorry but i didn't realize that 1. comment threds are forums for migrant/union labor discussions and, 2. this guy's target audience has no idea what a guitar is/ consists of. hmm, who would've guessed?

  • olp mm1 is the boss of the budget guitars, no if ands or buts.

  • I have this guitar .. the only good thing about it is the price ...the neck is not bad tho

  • i feel like a shoebox would sound good through a gibson amp lulz!

    good review though

  • DAMMIT! I was kinda hoping these had the skunk stripe on the neck, makes it look alot more classy. oh well I still might get it, cause it still looks kinda snazzy

  • sounds okay, but its the ugliest thing ive ever seen

  • Interesting tone: metallic and chimey.

  • Wow, those strings are BLACK!!!

  • @danecook321 Never been on a budget?

  • @danecook321 He may have those black chrome strings on it. Forget what they're called.

  • This is a good example of "Its all about who's playing!" This may be my new brand of choice. Although a really good amp doesn't hurt your tone.

  • that really is a cool guitar

  • Seems like a cool guitar.

You have to be careful with those cheap ones though. You might have to search through ten to find one that isnt flawed in some way.

  • 1:00 its a PRETTY fine example of a PRETTY good guitar PRETTY well made ... i plan to buy one, so they better be PRETTY good, or else...

  • looks like a ripoff tele

  • are the xaviere teles better compared to the SX ones?

  • Wow that guitar looks beatiful....I think I'm buying that model!

  • if your going to do a budget guitar review, PLAY THE DAMN GUITAR THROUGH A BUDGET AMP FFS!!!!

  • Budget guitars are alright with clean tones but not when it comes to distortion

  • @willy346 It's not that budget guitars are bad with distortion, it's that budget distortion sucks. Also, anything that distorted is going to sound pretty stale. I've got my hands on one of these guitars, and they sound great with a touch or overdrive.

  • the clean sound is really great, but with the distortion... hmmm.. not so good

  • Was I the only one who noticed that all the strings except the high E string were black?

  • i am looking at this guitar, which would be a more slick and comfortable neck the maple or rosewood?

  • If budget guitars are well made, they can be really awesome for the price,

I once played a yamaha pacifica worth 270 dollar and I was blown away by the playability and sound.

On the other hand, the epiphone LP 100 I owned was totally shit, I now have a fender strat and I sound much better now, so I can actually blame the bad sound on the guitar:p

  • omg this guy is informative but takes a year to start playing.

  • Great review. . but this "What's Up Good People" thing is driving me out of my mind. .

  • the pickups are alrite but this kind of guitar wouldn't sound that great on most solid state amps

  • @reaLJustiFied dont play solid state then. tube sounds better anyways

  • this? (xaviere) or squier?

  • How do they feel in your hands is what I want to know, I don't care about the finish etc. just the feel. What about the woods, are they select woods or something crappy? I was thinking about taking one of these, take a neck off and replace it with a birdseye maple warmoth neck which would make it sing a bit better (I think), replace the hardware and (possibly) the pickups but I heard good things about GFS pickups so I might not. Is it a standard tele neck pocket or is it different?

  • Most budget guitars are well built. These kids are always blaming the guitar because it's not something high end like a Les Paul, when they're the ones that can't play.

  • It's like ...a Pinto will get you there ...same as a Mercedes....just remember , not to get hit in the rear end...love poppa

  • @MrPoppa2

You definitely made me laugh...good one. :)

  • he's an awesome guitarist, i just hate when people play blues with a distortion pedal. it sounds good its just that anytime i try to see how a distortion pedal sounds people play blues instead of anything heavy.

  • ive checked out the site,i can get a sunburst xaviere 335 copy with hard case delivered to london england for £300. quite a bargain, but i cant help but feeling someone, somewhere is getting exploited at tthis price. concious vs G.A.S.???

  • @strabbs1 No exploitation -- just not gigantic markups because they're dealer direct.

  • rondomusic guitars are sick and cheap, i have 3 of them

  • i gotta 1973 tube amp

  • What the what!!! David Taub playing a guitar that cost less than a new car???? I don't believe it.

  • its like a hardtail, in that it is a hardtail...

  • what do you think about this pedal? Wasabi AD-1 Forward-Reverse Effects Pedal thanks! you rawks!!

  • its - Za-vee-ay

  • Ha - b - air

Should be a modification to the name Javier, kind of a latin language name... (spanish, italian, portuguese... not sure about its origin)

  • i bought an axl eldorado put in a hot rail that i paid 30 bucks for at an ebay store and put in locking tuners from gfs..my god the thing is awesome..i now have a amazing guitar for less than 200 dollars

  • I also have a Ibanez AS73B Semi-Hollow. Once again, $300.00(new). Tossed in FAT PATS. $60. I have an amazing guitar for $360.00 that sound as good/better then $1000, $2000, $3000 guitars. ONCE AGAIN. DONT BUY A NAME. Stick it to them for once!!! I bought a Squire jazz bass($200 new), threw in noisless pups. just like a fender jazz. no different. oh , except 800 bucks! I have 2 Xaviere guitars. Gibson who???

  • @klownlord Ok, I agree about quality and bang for buck, these and squier standard series and above, GFS pickups in the squiers, all set. As for "sticking it to them", the ones who profit off the "value priced" guitars are the same ones who sell the big time stuff, with obvious exceptions such as Peavey, but by buying the cheap ones you support outsourced labor. Fine if it's outsourced to a place where there's reasonable labor conditions, but sweat-shops aren't cool. Buy parts, build your own.

  • @AdamRainStopper I agree with you, but not everything made in Asia is done so in a sweat shop. There are plenty of high end, well paid factories across Indonesia, Korea, even some in China.

  • @fuckingfuckdude You forgot Japan.....although right now Japanese guitars aren't exactly cheap. I own squier standard teles with GFS pickups. I also own a peavey tele that was made in the US, alder body, fat neck, nice overwound bridge pickup, paid 80 bucks used. Asia is a continent, not a country, and it has as many cultures as it has factories. You are absolutely right.

  • @AdamRainStopper Yeah, that's kind of why I left Japan out. Their manufacturing is generally much higher than the rest of the area. If that's the same Peavey I think it is, those are fantastic instruments.

  • @fuckingfuckdude Yes, Peavey makes great instruments AND electronics. I have used Peavey guitar amps and solid state bass amps all my life, and they match up to almost everything else I've owned in sound and build quality. Lately, I record with a Peavey Classic 30 through a pair of poplar cabinets with G12T-75's, and I couldn't be more satisfied. I got the Classic 30 for 300 bucks. A similar amp from Vox (AC30) would be way more expensive, less versatile, and have less available gain.

  • @AdamRainStopper Even the SS rage series amps from the 90's were excellent and incredibly ballsy.

  • @fuckingfuckdude Yeah, I agree, although I don't use pedals much at all and I get my overdrive tones from my amp, so a solid state guitar amp wouldn't make much sense for my recording needs. For bass on the other hand, a solid state 1x15 combo seems to be the only thing that can give me about 90% of the sounds I want on the bass track. The remaining 10% (when I play bass with distortion) I like my little converted 18 watt Hammond organ amp. Sounds good for guitar too, I just switch cabinets.

  • cheap guitars rule! Squiers, Agiles, Douglas, Xavieres. A real guitar player can make them sound really good.

  • @peskypesky i agree except squiers. never had good luck with them.

  • not all cheap guitars are good. I had a squire that would cut your fingers open if you let the neck slide through your hands. And my other squire never stayed in tune. AND........ I had an epiphone s-310 (batwing headstock, not the kramer headstock) and it just was not good... sounded flat, never in tune... My American strat on the other hand sounds amazingly better, feels amazing, stays in tune, etc. I do have an older epi s-310 that rocks, so I'll give ya that...

  • My Squier Classic 60's Jazz Bass is very nice. I did put Seymour Duncan Pups in it though but it sets up real nice. Tune it up on Friday nights gig, play it then and Sat and the next Fri it's still in tune.

  • Ugh I hate that distortion tone so much.

  • @AirHendrix91 I'm with you on that. Just awful

  • you should go to rondomusic and pickout a cheap guitar there and then do a review like you did on that guitar

  • True, Rondo kicks so much ass. I really would buy an electric from them easily.

  • He uses a Gibson amp with a budget guitar, but for the vintage guitars he reviews he uses a line 6.... doh

  • he speak like borat

  • #1 the tone knob on a DS-1 (keeley mod otherwise) should NEVER go past 12 o'clock, and just to be safe, past 11 o'clock is a better bet. Just awful up that high.

#2 If you are going to spend a lot of money, it's much better to spend it on an amp than a guitar. A $300 Mexican strat vs a $1400 Am Deluxe strat is not a drastic improvement in tone. A $300 amp and a $1400 Mesa combo, on the other hand, is a drastic improvement. A $300 guitar is fine if you have the right pickups.

  • I agree with the amp vs guitar I've gone through like 3 amps that were all shit then i bought a suped up fender performer 1000 and I can't get enough. I run a mexican strat I spent maybe 50-100 extra dollars on electronics upgrades and it sounds just as good as any american deluxe i've heard.

  • there is nothing wrong with budget guitars, its all about who plays them....i've seen loads of budget guitars who are propperly built and sound good

its always kids making excuses about the gear because they themselves are crap at guitar

remember the proverb: a good craftsman never blames his tools

  • if you know what you are doing, a squier or a xaviere is a fine guitar. I have a squier strat that has perfect action, a smooth neck, and great electronics.

I just get pissed when kids assume that the price makes the difference- all of my guitars are under 500 dollars, and i couldnt be happier.

  • Fortunately for Gibson a lot of ignorant people think they will play better if the spend a lot of money.

  • It is easier to play on a good guitar though. Most people just want it to be easy. And to be able to show everybody their Gibson.

  • Exactly.... But good guitars don't have to be expensive. It's the high priced American labor that's killing it now days.

  • @wildhorsestudios1421

Yeah those dicks want benefits and junk, what a bunch of buzzkills.

  • @Joedanbeck Nothing wrong with benefits. The buzzkill comes from over priced pharmacuticals. :)

  • @Joedanbeck Oh and those that want 90% of thier salary when they retire.

  • @wildhorsestudios1421 Yea so you would rather we work for peanuts and 2 dollars an hour? freakin communist go to mexico if you love it so much.

  • @jamima222 Bite me moron.

  • @wildhorsestudios1421

LOL high priced labor.. american wages are in the toilet dude....

  • @randomtwit For those of us out of work you are correct it's in the toilet. For those still working at the Fender factory. No cut in wages. Labor still high. What part of cost of labor and benefits don't some of these folks understand?

  • @randomtwit you;re right, those sweat shops in china pay WAY better -.-

  • @JgHaverty I didnt mention sweat shops in china... I meant the ludicrous comment that some how american workers are overpaid .. by american standards.

  • @randomtwit union labor is disgustingly overpaid. by anyone's standards lol.

  • @JgHaverty Oh mexican immigrant factory workers at fender corona are union?... lol

I mean we are talking about mexican factory workers at fender USA.... yes im sure they are rolling in dough... Do you work at 7-11? ... I do and I can tell you I have 4 roommates so I can have a place to sleep. .. no benefits to speak of.. Oh yes im so overpaid here in america... (facepalm)

  • @randomtwit compared to china korea mexico japan, and other countries america is more expensive

  • SD syndrome that is

  • @MilitantOldLady =>Viktor Smolksi

    (Cheap #yamaha+ENGL amp) [rage]

  • Comment removed

  • @MilitantOldLady That proverb gets thrown around a lot, but a good craftsman never blames his tools simply because he doesn't buy the cheapest ones he can afford to begin with. Tools are an excellent example; it doesn't matter how good the craftsman is, cheap or poorly cast sockets will strip out, things will break, they won't last. A good craftsman is smart enough to avoid that in the first place, so he can concentrate on getting the job done without worrying about his equipment failing him.

  • @intooblv

    thats a load of crap

  • @MilitantOldLady Well, I envy the world you live in, where skill can apparently change the physical properties of things. If I play a guitar with poorly made tuners, but I play it skillfully enough (and maybe never use bends), it'll never go out of tune! Cheap pickups will never hiss, low-grade pots will never crackle, and my truss rod will adjust itself, all based on how well I play! :)

  • @intooblv

you're overblowing it just to pull the argument in your direction and you know its horse shit

  • @MilitantOldLady A.) I'm not having an argument with you, just stating my opinion. B.) "Crap" and "horse shit" aren't very convincing, either.

  • @intooblv

noone in their right mind and a few hundred quid will go to a store and pick up a guitar with all the faults you listed...that would imply you're an idiot to do so in the first place...if a guitar is priced at a budget and put together well, the only fault at its sound and performance is the musician

there, you made me elaborate on what you shuld have known all along

  • @MilitantOldLady People do it all the time because, you're right, they don't know any better, and that's exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about. "A good craftsman NEVER blames his tools" is a fallacy, plain and simple (or maybe just poor English), because - sometimes - they do, and rightly so. Maybe you meant "A good craftsman never blames his tools, assuming that his tools are well-made and they're not actually at fault," but that's not what you said. Just say what you mean next time! :)

  • @intooblv

you're still geting it wrong...supposedly good musicians blaming their instruments for not giving them what they want to hear are morons aswell because they obviously picked the wrong one for what they want to hear

....and a "craftsman" is not good if he-she buys a faulty instrument/tool...you're just plain wrong there because anyone who knows anything at all about their instrument, will avoid faulty ones....so the ones buying shit guitars and crying about it are NOT good guitarists

  • @MilitantOldLady You don't know what a variable is, do you? You've wandered right back into "X always means Y and can NEVER mean Z" land! Oh noes!

  • @intooblv

FFS you moron! read what i write!

ill put it in simple form for you thickhead:

good guitarist = knows what he's buying

    bad guitarist = buys shit

good guitarist = can play a cheap guitar well

bad guitarist = cant play anything well

    you = asenine

  • @MilitantOldLady I see. Thank you for confirming my hypothesis. For future reference, misspelling "asinine" makes you look... well...

    /done.

  • @intooblv

    will you stfu already!

get a dictionary you idiot, both forms are right....here's a can of oil to boot you piece of shit...i've got no patience for jobby jabbers like you

  • @MilitantOldLady Being vulgar doesn't make you less wrong. There's only one way to spell "asinine," unless you were calling me a font for some bizarre reason.

  • @intooblv

being vulgar lets you know what i think of you and your gobshite...all your mental diarrhea hasnt put one foot arround my first post...so stfu already and go clean a bird or something

  • @MilitantOldLady Okay, sure, I'll get right on that. Don't forget to look up that word, though!

  • @MilitantOldLady A good Craftsman wouldn't buy crap tools. But i agree

  • @NzDuckShooter

what if the craftsman kept his old tools all along, eh?

  • @MilitantOldLady Point: I rather like Danelectros myself.

  • @MilitantOldLady Exactly. Also, no other way to say it, it's all in your hands. If you ain't got it, no guitar in the world will make you sound any different. You'll still sound like... you. Just have a decent guitar that's setup and intonated, and learn to play. It's that simple.

  • @Zubirrex

i've seen people make guitars out of shovels, planks of wood, even tennis rackets and they all sounded good...

  • @Zubirrex ....hell, there are even guitars made out of bloody Lego and they sound great

  • @Zubirrex The only thing you could blame your guitar for is poor quality pickups. my notes die after holding them for about 5 seconds :/

  • "kinda', kind'a, kinda', kind'a,kinda', kind'a,kinda', kind'a" stop saying kinda'!!!

  • Nice sounding guitar. . . . is that the GFS Xaviere from Guitar Fetish?

  • God. I hate when he brings out that Keeley modded DS-1. They always set it up for a super shitty, trebly tone. It's awful. Their reviews never do the guitars much justice.

  • how about some crunch

  • Pretty good means that people who paid over a grand for a slab of wood and wire are justifying their purchase

    (runs away)

    :)

  • I dunno man, I've got an american strat that's been great to me but I've gone through a ton of cheap guitars

  • Ive got a ton of cheap guitars that hold their own to my American guitars.

  • I guess... I just never liked the feel of some of my cheaper guitars. To make them play better I'd of had to replace the tuners and bridges on them, and on one of them the neck as well. In some cases you get lucky. Like I just picked up a epiphone s-310 from the late 80's to early 90's for 50 bucks cuz the head stock broke off and was re-glued, sounds and plays amazing, and stays in tune.

  • Well true there are a lot of crappy guitars out there. I just got my Xavier XV-820 Tele Style yesterday in the mail. Put new strings on it. Set it up and it plays as nice as my Fenders. The pickups are not as HOT as my 88 American Tele Standard but they are more twangy and cleaner. It holds a tune pretty well but the tuners do seam cheap. The finish is nice but the not as even as their pictures show. You can def see the bad book matching. I'm happy for 200 bucks including shipping.

  • @wildhorsestudios1421 dude get a set of locking tuners at guitar fetish. 30 dollars a set . No I dont work for em I just know a bargain when I see it

  • Thanks lerx42. Any idea if they fit the Xavier guitars without modification? I question some of their hyped advertising. For example saying the XV-820 is a 3 piece body. Mine sure looks like 4 pieces unless it took stain diff on the one piece and created a very straight seam like stripe up the middle. Not that I mind. Just curious. I'll check out those tuners but may have to email them about fit. Thanks again.

  • @wildhorsestudios1421 I'm not sure about that. But anyway there is a guy on ebay, guitar parts on line I think is the store, anyway he also make his own pickups and tuners. Excellent well made stuff for a fraction of the price of well known brands. Check it out

  • thats the problem with people who have money... they stop appreciating the fact that cheap guitars are sometimes better than expensive ones

"pretty good"...? is that the same as, actually suprisingly good?

face it... its a cheap good guitar.

I have a marlin stingray from the mid 80's that plays miles better than any fender strat. it cost 45 quid on ebay id never play anything else.

  • I have this same neck on one of my Strats. GuitarFetish sells modded Xaviere guitars as well as the Xaviere necks, but with no logo. The Frets are dressed really nicley and the finish is great, mine was Maple with a gloss just like the one in the video. It even had a nice Graphite nut, but I changed it to an LSR Roller Nut. They really are great necks, I like them better than Fender necks, fat, comfortable and good looking. Anyways, I'm gonna get me an Xaviere Tele sometime soon... nice sounds.

  • what are those bends called that he does at 5:17, and again at 6:02-6:03 called?

  • double stop bends ? i'm pretty sure that's the name in english.

  • Comment removed

  • sounds like seymour duncan pickups..

  • the boss ds1 is pretty cheap but it has a nice sound if you get a good setting

  • And if you have it modded...

  • One of my friends has a boss ds1. It was pretty versitile, but call me crazy, I like my Ibanez Smashbox distortion, really cause I can push my knobs down and not get them messed up and it has a noise gate to help my single coils from buzzing.

  • looks to have a fingerboard to me - lol

  • damn really cheap guitars but sounds nice can you guys demo some of their other models

  • What is the name of the song that he plays at the beginning of the video? Anyone can tell me? THX

  • its just random Eminor, C and then move up the C chord two frets... :) try it.

  • i hate the boss ds1. its such a cheap sounding distortion

  • but the price is the bottom line, right? I use the ds1 for practice and junk tracking, but it does get kinda chorus sounding after a little bit.

  • That's why it's used by so many professional guitarists!

Personally, I use it for overdrive.

  • what's up with the strings?! they're BLACK ... woah...

  • Check out the DR red evil strings.

    Theyre red.

  • maybe they're rusted like hell

  • thought so for a second...but naah. (i've got the sarcasm)

  • this guitar looks soo cool :D

  • ugly guitar

  • Nice review, should've tried it out on different amps though, like on a tube amp, and then on some 15 watt SS, cause tube amps color a guitar's sound too much.

  • Hey guys..I kinda like the xaviere, have never heard of it until i saw this video..sounds pretty nice clean. i like the bridge pickup..the distortions alright to. Good video i might look more into this guitar

  • Great sounding guitar..especially without the distort added.

  • It's the amp that makes it sound good

  • the pickups are the best part of that guitar, gfs make amazing pickups

  • Ha ! Looks like frankgug has another fan, or is that another alias ? One that is more descriptive obviously.

  • I assume Frank is the one playing guitar. If not, then you both are dweebs.

  • haha i have my strat copy ''patriot'' guitar brand made in korea... it sounds like this guitar... i bought it for about 80 bucks!! with a 10 watts tony smith amps and its all brand new!~!!

  • I wanna buy a Xaviere hollowbody guitar (ES 335ish one) does anyone know if it is good for it's price thank you

  • for the proce yes it is good, but you could always go with a used ibanez hollow body for a close price

  • you should change the bridge pickup. it sounds kinda weak.

  • Way too much bite

  • Yeah. A lot of guys who buy $200 guitars use vintage '60's Gibson amps and Keeley modded pedals ! The guitar is "Xaviere" and it's pronounced " Slab O' Shit " I believe, but I'll need to check my Chinese to English translation guide to be positive. Maybe the next video you could play a vintage '59 LP through a plastic Kay distortion pedal and a Radio Shack ham radio speaker. (Open back cabinet of course.) Just try to live in the "Real world" is all I'm saying.

  • sorry if we are in the wrong "Real world". in our "Real world" they are struggling musicians that jsut want a cheap guitar to jam at the local bar for some money...
