Michael´s version is SO much better than Cook´s! For those who says that Cook sings it better, I can tell that they don´t know how to sing. Cook is great also, but Michael´s has even more emotions. The music is a lot better in Michael´s, has much more feelings. Is great for dancing too. If Billy Jean was made it first by Cook i dont think it would of make it to where it is. Its not nostalgia, it was sung as it was intended to.

A song isn't just about how much emotion is in it, or what it means, how slow it is, it's about the whole thing, the music, the catchiness, the beat too. MJ knew what this song meant because he wrote it - so he knew what emotion to put into it. He also had it perfected - Cooks version misses the whole concept of the song - it sounds too fake - he doesn't know what he's singing about. That is why MJ's version will always be the best.

It's not at all fair to compare a remake with the original sung by someone who recently died. peopl are going to choose the original simply based on nostalgia.

I think that I prefer David Cook's version for the emotion over the catchiness of MJ's version. Both are good, and MJ obviously has the advantage of having sung it first, but David Cook's music is more my style. (emotion>beat IMO)

LOVE both versions! I was 9 years old when Michael Jackson came out with this song. I had his poster on my wall and was quite into him and his music. I watched Season 7 AI and totally fell for David Cook when he sang this version. I don't normally like remakes, but LOVED this one and generally loved what David Cook did with nearly all of the songs he performed on AI. Now I'm a huge DC fan, but can honestly say both versions are great. I listen to them both. Very different, but both great.
