  • I always think about what the "house" would be like when the three girls are dead. Of course, the most affectionate one, Rose, is left alone... RIP Rue, Bea, and Estelle!

  • It's too bad that there was always tension between Bea Arthur & Betty White... Clearly Bea was closer to Rue and didn't like Betty. I wonder what happened between them... I miss them :(

  • @2009MINORITY They got along better as the show went on. Se didnt like Betty because Betty could be annoying. They were friends though.

  • are they all dead beside betty?:(

  • @UhThatGirly Yes, and they all leave behind a wonderful memory

  • i love bea arthur..she brought joy to my life...really helps me a lot just watching maude and gg....

  • This show is older than me, and yet it is still relevant today, better than a lot of shows today.....RIP Dorothy, Blanche, and Sophia, RIP Bea, Rue, and Estelle, Stay strong Betty

  • I am glad they did this. RIP Girls. I know betty is holding strong she rules....... and any that dislike this have no idea what good shows are.

  • The beauty of this show can be seen in the longevity of it's predecessors. I Love Lucy has been on the air continuously since its original airing. Golden Girls is so much better and more timeless. It wouldn't surprise me if people 400 years from now are still watching. God bless, royalties!

  • Does anyone else get teary eyed at this? This was only 3 years ago and 3 of these women are gone. From watching Golden Girls its like I knew them personally. Its amazing how fast things happen.

    R.I.P Estelle, Bea & Rue

    Long live Betty White! :)

  • The last time Bea, Rue, and Betty were together.

  • They are so wonderful!

  • I grew up watching the Golden Girls. I've seen every episode at least 30 times (probably a lot more) and it's still just as funny now as it was then. This was a lovely tribute to an extraordinary show.

  • Awww. I just read Bea's lips. When he says "...Dorothy Zbornak played by Bea Arthur", Bea turns and looks at Rue and says "I don't have to stand up?"

  • I do believe that this is the final appearance of Bea Arthur w. the other 'girls.'

  • @bluenail03 Yes, sadly I believe it was.

  • Aww its so very sad to think that Bea died about 9 months after this. Love and miss her soooooooo much!!!!

RIP Bea, Rue, and Estelle we all miss you :(

  • omg....estelle died in 2008, bea died in 2009, then rue died in 2010.....i hope betty is gonna be alright in 2011....cuz i love the golden girls so much! i watch this show everyday! and i'm just 19, the show makes me so happy!

  • 4:04 lol

  • 3:43 - 3:45 OWNED!! XD

  • Is that Tina Yothers from Family Ties @ 5:49? If so, what was she doing there? I thought they honored Family Ties at the recent 2011 awards.

  • Watching this makes me smile and getting tears in the eyes. So sweet to see them together but so hard to imagine they never going to be together anymore in this life :-(

  • Now, only one Golden Girl remains on this earth. It really was a great show

  • Favorite show of all time! watch them every night on Hallmark XD

  • This was uploaded 3 days before Estelle Getty died. Thanks for posting. Such a great show. Never get tired of watching this hilarious show. Rip Estelle,Bea and Rue. Thanks for all the laughs

  • This was a very nice tribute. Good work

  • you know he actually had people fooled and it was on AOL that he was quitting acting to become a vice presidential candidate

  • who was that woman at 6:00?

  • (In Sophia tone and manner) FIVE DISLIKES?? WHAT THE HELL FOR? DIDN'T PEOPLE APPRECIATE GOOD COMEDY WHEN IT WAS ON?

  • Danny Lopez played Mario in the "Dorothy's Prize Pupil" episode of "Golden Girls". (Season 2)

  • @02chevyguy You mean Mario Lopez

  • @uLOVEjULZ My mistake...sorry

  • The Golden Girls still makes laugh to this day. I will never get tired watching them

  • It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This !!!!

  • The last time they were all together very sad have all 7 seasons on DVD and laugh my ass off everytime!!

  • Rest in Peace Bea,Estelle and Rue, We all we going to miss you girls. I know there laugher in heaven, I know you girls up there making jokes. and anything. RIP Girls.

  • I guess the camera operators had instructions to take a shot of every "Office" star when honoring another TV show.

  • can i just say how much i love these women?

  • o.m.g. I miss these ladies. So good to see three of them here. Only one left :( I'm gonna cry my eyes out when Betty dies!

  • @godzie1

Hey I don't think that was Mario as the boxer. That was the same guy who later played roses boss "Enrique mas". I'm not sure what his real name is. :-)

  • 4:07 is the saddest and sweetest part of this piece.

  • Comment removed

  • Isn't that Steve Carell?

  • Explain to me why Mario Lopez has any place at all in a retrospective tribute montage for The Golden Girls? It's like having the Backstreet Boys talk about the achievements of the Space Program... how completely ridiculous.

  • @TangibleDreamsEnt Mario Lopez played on 1 episode of the Golden Girls. He played the part of a young immigrant from Porter Rico & was a boxer that Sophia had one of her money making ideas to manage him. But he had another dream in the performing arts

  • @Godzie1 He wasn't from Puerto Rico. Puerto Ricans are Americans so they wouldnt be deported. I don't recall well, but i think the character was supposed to be Mexican or something. or maybe they didnt specify.

  • @kingnando I just said he acted the part as a imigrant for the tv show. (Not in real life!)

  • @Godzie1 I know you meant on the show, but you said he played a "young immigrant from Porter (sic) Rico" , the character wasn't from Puerto Rico because it wouldnt have made sense that he would be deported if the character was from Puerto Rico. Its okay. It was a good episode!

  • @kingnando - they didn't even say where he was from did they? i tried watching again to see...maybe i missed it?

  • @sashamarie711 I dont think they said either. I probably missed it too.

  • @Godzie1 - Mario Lopez didn't play the boxer that had a love for playing the violin!! The guy who played that was the same guy who played the news broadcaster at Roses new job : ENRIQUE MAS! played by Chick Vennera! Mario Lopez was only in one episode.

  • Still funny:)

4 Women in the 60`s and a Cheesecake, life couldnt be better.I love them so much!!!

Dorothy,Sophia and Blanche: Rest in Peace!

  • What a well deserved honour for such an incredible show. Nothing since this show has been able to compare with the witty humour that transcended generations and gender. I love the GG they will forever bring a smile to my face!! Thank you for being a friend!!!

  • This made me tear up. I can't believe Estelle, Bea, and Rue all have passed on. I watched them since I was little, and I always loved the show. I will miss shows like that, which they don't have now.

  • It's sad now there is only one left =(

  • Filmed less than two years ago when all four were still living. Simply sad, but lovely to see these three ladies together again one last time.....

  • Golden Girls are in a class by themselves! This show was one of THE best shows on television. Love all four ladies R.I.P. Bea, Estelle, and Rue, love you guys (tears trickling down)

  • They all deserve it! It's about time!

  • that was the last time they was together because months later Bea died

  • @tbabydaladysthetruth

And now rue's gone, there's only Betty left. :-(

  • @tbabydaladysthetruth CcORRECTION:BEA ARTHUR DIED APRIL 25, 2009 THIS WAS ONE YEAR BEFORE IN 2008

  • @tbabydaladysthetruth BEA DIED APRIL 2009 AND ESTELLE DIED JULY 2008

  • @tbabydaladysthetruth @tbabydaladysthetruth BEA DIED APRIL 2009 AND ESTELLE DIED JULY 2008

  • I love this show! I started watching it first run the last season, '91-'92 when I was 8, and I've watched it in rerun since then. One of the best shows ever!! :-D

  • Betty and Rue helped Bea out of her chair and on to the stage...once a team always a team.

  • Golden Girls are Epic, Spice Girls of the 80s girl power haha!!!

  • lmaoooo i love the golden girls they are so funny!

  • The best show ever! I grew up with it - watching it before I understood the majority of the jokes (I was 3 when it debuted), watched it on Lifetime all through middle school, high school and college and now watch it on Hallmark. It's such a timeless show that will always be relevant - truly amazing writing and acting!

  • This was one of the best shows of all time, right up there with M.A.S.H. My dream is to grow up and be Sophia!

  • Rose is too funny!

  • ive seen every single show...i Heart this show amazing writers, amazing everything..i love them..........they dont make shows like this anymore

  • they are amazing! I wish Estelle could have been there!

  • What an honor it must have to been to BE there that night and stand up and applaude these women... there just isn't enough applause in the world.

  • God *blushes* I'm balling at this!!! How cute and sweet and lovely are they? Betty reminds me of my grandmother. These three girls are just magnificent :D

    R.I.P. B&E

@mnmcv1 - one of my faves too lololol; in fact, that whole Mr. Haha-bit is brilliantly done

  • 3 truly class acts.

Rest in peace, Bea and Estelle!

  • What Ticks me off about the TV LAND gig... They made no mention of Estelle or the one that played Stan either... Golden Girls are classy ladies and always will be...

  • @ TheAltoQueen ...Thanks I havent seen all the eppys of the Golden Girls yet..and the only one i remeber with Lopez in it was the one he was a student that was taken back to Mexico..

  • bea aged sooooo well....i was watching the show and it hit me how epic and original it is ...i wish tv could b like this today <3

  • Love seeing this again!

    get well soon Rue!

  • "The Kama Sutra had to publish a supplement because of you!"

I'm sorry, but that's just freaking brilliant!

  • I love The Golden Girls. RIP Bea and Estelle

  • @TashaRichardsonFan --And also rest in peace Rue, can't believe they're all gone but Betty.......I miss them all so much--but so glad we will always have them in reruns. One of the greatest shows ever written!

  • 4 great talents in a truly brilliant show.

Bea was 86 when she passed, but it still hit me hard. The woman was truly one of a kind, with amazing comic timing & delivery. I loved her dearly, and I doubt we'll ever see her likes again.

favorite GG moment (one of many)- Rose takes Dorothy to Mr. HaHa's Hot Dog Hacienda for her birthday.

Rose: Dorothy, you haven't touched your Mr. HaHa hot dog!

Dorothy: you're right! (SMASHES hand into her hot dog) There...I've touched it...

  • @mnmcv1 I so agree with you!!!!!

  • golden girls is for me the series of the world! Or from the 80s, still funny after all these years! LOVE ALL GIRLS!

  • why did they interview Mario Lopez? Because he was in one episode of the Golden Girls???????

  • Yes he was in one entire episode when he was like 12 or 13

  • Love it... how special was this night when we had all FOUR of them still here with us!

  • "We have Maalox and Estrogen"....LOVE IT!

  • Love the Golden Girls, and always will, owning all 7 seasons on DVD, i think i have worn them out watching them so much!! Im glad Bea was well enough to accept the award last year. this is truly an amazing show with 4 of the very best actresses. no one could have played those 4 women like they did :) they are the best!!

  • im just 16 and i love this show 2 death im blanch lmao

  • Watchng this makes me want to cry. Although I am only 19 I am a big fan of this show. There is no other show like the Golden Girls.

  • I am pretty sure by all the screaming and applauding going on that everyone in that Hall Knew that they were in the presents of three living legends, Stage, Silver screen and TV. True Tailent, which I miss in Television these days.

  • who was that handsome actor that was laughing at betty's joke in the end? i know he was on some show, i just can't remember which...

  • um...Marion Lopez?! Comparing Golden Girls to Sex in the City?? what a tool! This show far out-shone Sex in the City. These actresses were brilliant on their own, and Golden Girls didn't rely on smut, empty plotlines, and dropping a designer label name every 30 seconds to get people interested. Sex in the City is a sham - and half those girls couldn't act their way out of a paper bag. Amen.

  • Bea Arthur herself compared the Golden Girls to Sex and the City and said "We were like 'Sex and the City' for women over sixty." I think there's more to that show than what you think.

  • I never understood all the comparisons with Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives. Both of these shows could not keep me entertained for more than five minutes and the only resemblance I see that The Golden Girls and the other two shows have four female lead characters. GG is still hilarious after more than twenty years: all due to the great cast and Susan Harris' brilliant writing.

  • I em' so much......They are the best comedians of their time.....It's just so sad to see them age so quickly......and then slowly drift away to a better place.......I really want them to stay...T.T I can't believe there are only two left

  • Four of the best women who have ever graced our screens!

RIP Estelle and Bea! I am so glad Bea was well enough to be there for this honor! No one will replace them!

    Thank you for posting!

  • @missmirren1 rue died not so often also.

  • i guess we can say 'ma' and 'her pussycat' are making people laugh in heaven!!

  • lol 1:19 was rue sleeping?! lol

  • LMAO... nah, as you can see from the next part, she'd just been knocking them back for awhile!!!!!! That shot of her holding up the wine bottle is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LOL She was just having a "Blanche Moment" LOL no I thought so too! LOL

  • I thought so at first, but then I realized that she was just pouring some more wine, below the shot...

  • Golden Girls was one of the best shows ever if not the best. It was groundbreaking and funny every episode. It went beyond race, age, or gender.

  • ha ha...this video was funny...

  • I love The Golden Girls.

I don't care what age you are, or who you are.

Everybody who has every laid eyes on a t.v. has watched The Golden Girls.

  • I'm just glad they got the standing ovation that they so deserved. It shows that the Golden Girls are timeless.

(Also, I love Steve Carell's comment that he slept with two of them!)

  • My God, Arthur was in her 80's! What do you want: A Joan Rivers twin?

  • @springmist775 No she didn't she looked as great as she could during this time. She was ill with cancer hello.

  • There aren't awards enough, nor is there applause enough, for these wonderful, wonderful ladies.

  • I feel like crying. Times passes so fast. I have been watching Golden Girls since I was a kid. That guy is right. EVERYONE watched Golden Girls. It is my favorite show.

We will miss you "Sophia and Dorothy".

  • can't belive that Dorothy passed away that fast. (Bea) All my respect to her.

  • Does anyone know who that is 4:49 with Cindy Williams?

  • "There are going to be more people on this show..that came as sort of a shock to us"

    LOL

  • ha ha...loved that comment!

  • R.I.P Bea Arthur and Estelle Getty

  • Cheech was in the spin off of the Golden Girls!

  • And Mario Lopez was on one episode of GG

  • i love golden girls RIP Bea Arthur and Estelle Getty thanks for all the laughter

  • "Your no good at Disdam game!"

  • I stared watchin this show when i was young with my grandmother, now i have all 7 seasons on DVD lol

  • Oh My God! I watched GG with my grandma too. That and the Jeffersons. My gran used to giggle every time Weezie knocked George over with the pillow.

  • RIP Bea. Ma and Dorothy are back together again. You were truely "Golden".

  • We love you Bea!

  • Siempre estareis en nuestros corazones.Siempre.

  • Rest at peace now, Bea, you will forever be missed. It is so comforting to know that I can turn on my TV, or pop in an episode, and there you'll Be(a). One of my best friends, our Golden Girl. I know that you and Estelle are having a fabulous, hilarious time up there together!

  • omg i love this girls..R.I.P. ESTELLE & BEA... WE LOVE YOU RUE & BETTY!!

  • i miss Bea already she was a wonderful woman with a great personality and she lived a good long life , i cant believe she's gone .

  • I miss you Estelle & Bea. Rest in Peace, Girls.

  • that was a great moment..

    RIP Bea.

  • BEA REST IN PEACE... I LOVE YOU

  • only those women could have brought alive those characters like they did. every one of them fit their roles perfectly.

  • I think Sophia was hilarious

  • this show must have helped break the stereotype that once you cross fifty years your life is over. at least my opinion of older people changed after watching this show. i mean, obviously they dont do crazy things that blanche, dorothy and rose do, but still, its not like life ends the minute you get wrinkles.

  • i love this show i got all the seasons on dvd

  • I cant believe how old dorothy looks. I dont know, after watching her in the show, she seemed as the strongest one, In my head, i thought she wuld still look the same as she did in the show. Love the golden girls.. finest show ever!

  • Well deserve

  • I total agree the golden girls was like the sex in the city back then

  • i used to sit with my granny and watch that show

although i was very little during the show i was born in 1982 i loove that show

and i bough all the dvd's

  • me to my grandma loved this show she still does

  • i grew up with the golden girl i love the show and i have all the seasons on dvd

  • They have aged but gracefully.

  • your no good at dis damn game

  • They got a standing ovation! How cool is that? That was really nice (yet somehow depressing because of all the time that has passed) to see 3/4 of the GG together one more time.

  • Betty White never misses a beat!!!!!! I love Golden Girls, RIP Estelle Getty you will ALWAYS be in my heart!!!

  • Greatest Show Ever!!! Love you Estelle!

  • thanks for this!

  • God love 'em!
