I am the vocalst on this track, I'm not in the picture that is posted with this track, this a promo for "beware" I was out of the band, but I'm back with Steel Prophet and we're currently working in the studio, thanks to all your comments!! - Rick Mythiasin
HOLY FUKING SHIT THAT WAS FUKING BAD ASS YOU ARE LEGENDS IT TAKE GUTS TO COVER THIS DEVASTATION SONG AND THE GUITAR AT THE ENDING ITS FUKING EPIC THE SINGER I TAKE MY HAT BEFORE YOU THE HOLE BAND BAND WAS EPIC
they fuking do it the best and only cover i have found this one is whit the soul and heart it deserves man much respect from puerto rico you fuking nail it
There were some parts early in the song when the singer went a bit flat - anyone else pick it up? But when he went to the high parts I was blown away - he really sounded just like Halford! The guitars are tuned down, but a very good cover.Well done.
This is an insane cover. All aspects of it rock. Its nice to hear a Judas song done to the T. Amazing vocals and I like the variety of the style of playing the band offered compared to the original. Again awesome cover with a very distinct variety
i know its a sacralige to say so but I think this is better, the acoustic guitars used sound more suited to this song than the ones used on the JP version and the synth line really adds a cool atmosphere that the original lacked, and that cool background whisper on the word dreamer really sounds trippy. the singer has an awsome tone that also totaly works.
Oh my god. That is awesome. You actually go higher on the harmony toward the end than is in the actual master recording right? Damn, you and Judas Priest are my inspiration to try to improve my singing!
@CountRobVonRolf I AGREE WITH YA,THIS SONG TAKES A HUGE SET OF NUTS TO COVER MY BAND DOES IT,AND DONT DO NEAR AS WELL EXCEPT IN THE SOLO,WHICH IS MY FAVORITE PRIEST LEAD OF ALL TIME
nice try on the high notes...halford is a hard act to follow when it comes to that. i like this cover though, one of my favorite Priest songs, and very reverentially done.
i once heard that TROUBLE was going to cover this on the Century Media PRIEST cover cd (but it never happened). I actually got a chance to see TROUBLE soundcheck Deciever (minus Eric) @ the Mercury Cafe back on the Plastic GreenHead tour.
Well, nailing it would be playing it right and to the point, wouldn't it? But music is about more than that, it's atmosphere, nostalgia... Which is why covers rarely achieve the same status as their originals. So I don't think it's a contradiction.
not bad, I like the total revamping of the solo, makes it sound more modern metal. I like the fact that you interpreted it, not just plain copied it. Sounds great. The vocals sound great even without any effects on them. Good job guys.
You covered one of my alltime favorite songs. I was a bit sceptic at the beginning, but i think it`s well done. However i acknowledge the vocalist more than the guitarist.
Singer sounds like he'd be better for Broadway than the metal scene. Not saying he's a bad singer, but his vocal texture and technique is very theatrical in less of the opera-esque form of Halford and his imitators/contemporaries. Nevertheless great cover, musically and vocally.
hard for me cause i love the priest version so much but i give them credit for giving it a shot and its not bad ,so good for them i ll love this song till im dead.peaceout
I am a huge judas priest fan,and can sing metal songs like priest songs very well. great job guys! check out my video...kevindevoid &rectifier 80's metal...metal health and highway to hell.
check out "xciter, quorum party" for a rendition albeit abbreviated, of this song that is the most impressive vocal disply ive heard on youtube and its live outdoors! INSANE!
I just watched another 80s metal l tribute band do this song live and the singer smoked the guy on his studio track. Sorry this is not that good. Search it and see what you think.
@tankermottind Ohhhh....but I think it's pretty close. It took me a minute or two to realize that they lowered the key so that Rick could hit the high notes. But then he had trouble hitting the low notes. It's not as heavy as the original, but but I think that it makes up for it in feeling. The feeling is definitely there.
This was a tribute to Judas Priest, put out by Dwell records. Guitars all by the amazing MR. Jon Pons! We are working on a new album, I wish that Jon Pons was back in the band, we need him!
@yellowraven8 yes. as a matter of fact, i played all the guitars and bass on that one. i didn't know what i was doing so the production was a little weak on 'top of the bill'. did the best i could. thanks.

The vocalist doesn't reach Halford's high notes because this song is tuned down half a step. Still impressive, though.

amazing solo intro...amazing solo...
geetgupta 1 year ago
If the band could pull it off live, I'd go see them. Halford can't do it anymore.
But the solo needs fixing, it didn't sound like the original at all most of the time.

If it's not up to the original's standard, it at least gives it a major run for its money.
