@maltastory Actually, an asylum seeker is eligable for asylum in the firdt safe country they meet - so in the UK we could take people frem France, the Netherlands, Ireland, Norway etc. but thats it - its the same in all Euro nations I believe (anybody know this?) - still, a refugee from the Congo has a way to get to Italy, Spain or Greece - Morocco for example is a safe country - there is not one single legal refugee in the UK, this is the case in most European countries!!!

Berlusconi is not breaking any international treaties. He is working his way round them. And even he were breaking some obsolete ridiculous convention, it is justified in the name of self defence.

Just because Lowell said to turn them back does not mean it's right. It means he's racist like any other who agrees with him. There are more European migrants residing in Malta than sub-Saharan foriegners - so the fact that you only complain about the latter means you cannot see beyond skin colour!

Regarding Berlusconi not breaking international treaties, you admit it yourself that he is - ergo (like Maroni) he's a criminal. Human rights are not up to debate....
