Thats the BOV and almost all sound that way on all cars, looks a personal opionon, and it drives a lot better than almost anything else out there and it has bald tires in snow- no wonder it got stuck! So its an AWESOME car.

AWD drive means all of the wheels are independently powered ALL THE TIME.

What you are referencing is what 4wd vehicles with limited slip do.

Subaru, Mitsubishi, Audi, and many others implement full time AWD.

The limited slip differentials they employ merely distribute more power to whichever wheels have the most traction at any given time.

all the gear and no idea again, unfortunately so many younger driver have had noo experience of proper snow in the uk, when i was 20 I had a mini and every winter in the early 80's you drove in a foot of snow no problem. All those revs and wheel spinning, the car is capable of setting of in 2nd or 3rd, then you would drive away, its the turbo that kills it also.

Once your tires are spinning it does nothing, maybe blow one at high enough rpm if your unlucky. You are better off slowly reversing and going forward using the momentum to get you through. I got a front wheel drive 97 deville through bumper high snow with this method just be easy on the trans.

I can go anywhere in my RWD Volvo 240 with winter tyres too. Swedes drive them through lots more than this crap with winter tyres on. My Bentley would do even better. this is why I think the whole AWD thing is so much noise over nothing.

@jblevins400 You are correct. I dont know about the WRX but the STI already comes with a by pass valve from the factory. At all but the highest pressures this is the best way to releive pressure on the turbo while still controlling the already metered air. All an atmospheric BOV does is waste already compressed air and grab attention from school boys who dont know any better.
