God this brings back some great memories! Ian you will always be missed but would we have ever had New Order if this woudn't have happened? Kraft Werk was the orginal synth sounds which led to Techno and Trance but still New Order had a large influence in the development and progress of synth.
Joy Division gave way to new sounds in music ,bass, drums, guitar, and synth.Lets not forget the haunting lyrics from IAN . They gave birth to new wave, and of course goth due to the fact that Bauhaus picked up were JD left off ,and made a unique sound of their own. Paving the way to what we know of as goth,or death rock. And not to mention the other genres that come from these pioneers of their era....in short it gos !!! JOY DIVISION >MAGAZINE >BAUHAUS ......ECT>>>>
New order and Joy Division are two completly different sounds. And New Wave was already forming in the US as early as 77. Joy Division is a "Post Punk" band and Ian was inspired mostly by David Bowie's Ziggy character from the early 70s. New Order formed from the remaining band members and chose to incorporate syth sounds. New Wave is Blondie, Berlin, Duran Duran, Gary Newman. Joy Division falls more under Post Industrial Punk. you got it right wthat Peter Murphy was God father of gothic.
@bluevidcam Labels, labels. New Order chose to incorporate synth sounds?! I hear loads of synth on Isolation. Love Will Tear Us Apart, Heart And Soul, The Eternal, Decades, These Days, Atmosphere, She's Lost Control, Insight, As You Said, and this song
Thanks' seems to be on ongoing debate as to his birth date. When we did the demo for Wilson and Factory the info given to us was from Factory and Wilson. It's listed in a Joy Divison scrapbook as this date. That date! So till Factory or whats left of corrects the info then it remains on the clip.

Shoplifter don't forget Andy's bass from Barbarism begins at home. Hooky and Andy r probably the great bass players of all time from Mnachester UK.

-_- Ian Curtis wasn't born in 1955 but in 1956, the time at the end is wrong.
