nice. looks like the trace cutting patch bay method ive seen on another site. with the sound much better actually. do you know if this will work on a pss-280? my hunch is it cannot, as the board might be a different variant. or if any cool bends can be attained on the 280 at all???
I don't have any specific info about the 280. But a quick search tells me it's also an FM synth, so it should be a candidate for the 'trace cutting patch bay method' too.
I dig it. I just found the pss270 at a salvation army for $25 and thought, "that keyboard looks like it could be bent...". After researching I realized I found quite a gem. Do you have any hints on finding that LFO filter effect? I've bend bending and mainly only finding glitches with the keyboard (which are amazing, but I want something I can control more with a pot). I understand if either you forgot or would rather not give out such info. Anyways, keep bending, and thanks for sharing!
Awsome man, thanks so much. I just completed a mod involving cutting the data lines for the FM unit on the board... I must have messed something up on the inside since 4 keys of each octave are only willing to function, and all I can really get out of the keyboard is a bunch of glitches. I will still attempt the potentiometer mods though, so thanks for putting these up, I appreciate you taking the time to do that. I'll try to put a video response to this sometime to show you what i've found.
Hey man thanks for the comments, I check for data lines I might have cut. What is your advice for repairing them? Adding a bit of solder I suppose? Anyways, I successfully added a photo resistor to the distortion connection with a spdt switch to toggle it on and off, it's sounds great, I'll put up a video sometime soon, seeing as how this seems to be an overlooked keyboard.
You wouldn't believe how fresh this sounded in the mid 70s!

@Raunchola @Nitramedia
The FM Scramble mods should work with other FM synths.

It sounds like you cut a line that scans the keyboard. I'd go through and check them all carefully, and repair them if necessary.

You need to make a song with the beginning and ending tunes as inspiration :)
