  • This is Urbana09!?? I was there! So good! Shane is awesome!!!

  • Thank God "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law by being cursed for us on the tree (cross). Galatians 3:13-

If Christ had not redeemed us from the curse of the law we would be stoned to death for not circumcising our male infants at 8 days old by a Priest and for breaking the Sabbath rest (cease all activity from Frid. nite for 24 hrs.) and for not celebrating the Jewish Holidays like Yom Kippur called the Day of Atonement and it was this past Oct 8.2011

No one got stoned to death.

  • Don't miss it will not pass away from the law--Until everything is accomplished.

Jesus is the fulfillment of the Law!

It is finished Paid in Full

Romans 10:4 CHRIST is the end of the law for righteousness for every believer

  • You are the hypocrite. Because you clearly don't know what you are doing, do you? What you are doing is hypocriting in the public in the eye's of you're Lord, just like every other pastors in the churches. You said, at 7:21, "But when you pray, go into you're CLOSET, close the door and pray to you're Father". Now what does that say to you? I mean go into you're CLOSET, it means something, like with you're 12 men, Jesus himself and no female. You tell me what that means?

  • Aw. Seeing him...it makes me happy, for some reason(:

  • :D

  • I love this guy! I discern he has a sweet kind heart from the Fruit of the Spirit.

  • People keep telling me that I shouldn't take Jesus his words literally.

But I do. He means what he says, He would not lie!!

Life as Jesus tells you too. Be serene, silent and helpfull.

Be a true servent of the good spirit.

  • @kroese1870 i think you should read the bible in faith and let the spirit guide you. The word in the bible has been distorted by "Human wisdom" but he who follows the spirit will enter it like a child, and god will bless you. Cuz god doesnt care about how well you make up your own wisdom. But to listen to his.

  • any reason he alters scripture??

  • Spread the love, spread the joy! Let your light shine if Christ is living in you!

  • I found this yesterday, and it is simply perfect in light of the news that has just broken out.

Let us forgive, love, and come together- Now, not as a country, but as the world and the children of God. <3

Thank you, sir, for this, and praise God for His guidance and mystery here in our lives. :D Amen. ^_^ <3

  • if you can acuse the "whites" of getting this land by murder, than you would have to accuse the Isrealites also. Yet this was God's plan so that He could bless the world through them!(the Isrealites) For salvation comes from the Jews. Jesus was a Jew. If you curse the Jews you will be cursed if you bless them you will be blessed, this is God's law. The U.S. has blessed the world through the spreading of the gospel. This would not have been the case had it not become a great nation. Wise up.

  • @slowpokeg I'm sorry that your so disillusioned. To say the US has blessed the world through the spreading of the gospel is far from the sad truth that millions of young children are forced into slavery every year all across the globe in order to support the horrific, unconscious obliterating of the world's resources that is a result of our ridiculous overconsumption. millions of children die each year for lack of clean water. only N.A. doctrine believes in a gospel of preaching w/o sacrificing

  • was there when Claiborne gave this, "the best sermon ever". youth specialties national youth worker's convention 2007, atlanta, st. louis, & san diego.

  • I feel very strongly that if you are right with God then you hear this message for what it is - someone reading the Scripture. That's it. Plain and simple. Quit making it something that it isn't - these are the words of our Father. And I see no self-righteousness here - just joy in reading God's Word. If you see self-righteousness, then maybe you should examine yourself.

  • Don't be surprised, but I can read the Bible too.

  • When have you in America treated your bretheren "Blacks" and "Indians" with this love; when were they ever your brothers? You got the land by murder.

  • @zodice1

How are you showing love to your brothers by grouping them all together then accusing them for not having love because of something that has happened a long time ago. Something that was done generations ago by some of the "White" race.

  • @RoboCoped The Gospel is based on truth, and the work and love of GOD not on lies.

  • @zodice1 The gospel is the power of...GOD!! The Gospel is this, if you don't REPENT!! REPENT!! then God will throw you into the lake of fire, if you do not turn from wickedness then God is your enemy.

  • @servant714 Wow! You've been there?

  • @svenhardini If you don't like the idea of hell just go ahead and cut it out of your bible, and anything else that doesn't suit you, go ahead and cut that out to, cuz isn't faith all about us and our feelings and our beliefs...no wait...actually its all about God isn't it? It's God's word and God's will, did you know hell is an awesome revelation of God's nature, people tend to equate it to the harshness of God but it's not, it's the zeal that God has for holiness and purity, the need to

  • @servant714 purge His creation of sin. Don't make a god for yourself that you are comfortable with, go to scripture with a humble heart and ask God to reveal Himself to you. What you believe, what you think, what you have learned is worthless. Don't be a victim of this defiled and arrogant generation that says Lord Lord, but keeps their hearts on the things of this world. Tell me I'm wrong, tell me you hunger and thirst for holiness, tell me you hate this world and its love of pleasure...

  • @servant714 You suppose a lot! You suppose I don't believe in hell, you suppose I want to decide what is and isn't so, you suppose I feel and believe a whole set of beliefs I don't. May I ask why you suppose these things?

  • @zodice1

I'm white, you're right. Read the Peoples History of the United States. I did and learned of all the hyprocrisy. But, I cannot repent for the actions of those who called themselves Christians. What I can do is love my neighbor as myself.

  • i love Jesus Christ more then anything i can imagine, and this is one of my favorite sermons. But why is everyone lifting up this Shane guy so much? No one person is saying Bless the LORD! but they are saying bless Shane. Shane is so Wonderfull and powerfull! Im not saying he is not a great guy and all that but Shane is nothing, he is worthless. Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit in him is what is so Powerfull and wonderfull.. My Lord God deserves all the Glory.

  • @RoboCoped your 'Lord God' doesn't think he is worthless...

  • I'm an atheist, but boy does he look happy preaching those sermons. If he's happy, i'm happy.

  • I find him too self-righteous. Sorry

  • @ruvikings I don't think you know much about him.

  • :( I don't like how he adds and takes away scripture. Open up your eyes and ears people. I think everyone should crack open their bibles and follow along in Matthew.

  • same old, same old. I see nothing special here.

  • How many real Christians would go do what he does.........Almost none

  • Shane is incredibly empowered.

  • Bless you who believe in one of God's prophets. May God show the way to everyone in our life, for each one of us is living. And with that comes committing both right and wrong. May God show the way to those who are seeking the truth on their own. May God show the way to those who tarnish the truth with falsehood. May God show the way. Amen.

  • @al89aizadwesley bless you bro. may God show the way.

  • He's quoting Luke Chapter 6: 20And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. 21Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh. 22Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.

Woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.

  • eh. nothing I haven't heard before.

  • 3"Blessed are the poor IN SPIRIT. for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. -Matthew 5:3

    Great sermon otherwise.

  • Does anyone know why he left out the words "in spirit"?

  • Because it is ultimately about a SOCIAL GOSPEL!?

  • @mjmorizio

Society simply means a group pf people. So, yes, Christ came for people - and tells us to love other people. Society, social.

  • Why don't seminaries use this as a model for preaching. Most preachers us a single main point for sermons and dumb down the audience.

The sermon on the mount can be read in 10 minutes and covers so many issues and yet preachers harp on one issue for 20-45 minutes.

  • Irony: God speaks in a whisper.

However, does the volume need to be THAT low!?!

    Just saying...

  • This guy really seems to have a peace in his soul. There is something good in him that shines out.

Yes.. it is a best sermon ever. This part of the bible is the part that if we would follow, we had a heaven on earth.

  • I agree. He someone that I admire because he sees the worst parts of the world and the terrible things that can and do happen against God.

But he looks past all the negative, he ignores everything that could possibly happen, and he loves.

He loves. Loving in a world like this. How truly amazing is that? Some of us, including myself, cannot begin to comprehend how one can do this. It's like imagining how Jesus did this.

  • Before Shane, I always thought that somebody coming this close to God was impossible. He's shown me that anything is possible through God.

  • could this be any soft-sounded???

  • he was so funny:] ilh!

  • volume is way to low in this video please repost with better sound. thanks

  • God bless Shane Claiborne. The Irresistible Revolution was my first step into coming back to Christianity; and this time, I chose it for myself. I'm glad the Lord put friends in my life who owned the book and showed it to me and let me borrow it. Our God sure is awesome.

  • @Roboboogey1990 Sure is Awesome your right. There is an uprising of both good and evil and we know who wins. It's good having you on my side brother.

  • @Roboboogey1990 The Irresistible Revolution beat me down and then kissed me where it hurt. that book really changed my life.

  • @Roboboogey1990

God bless you as well. It has taken me most of my life, I'm 70, to finally understand

what it means to be a peacemaker.

  • @Roboboogey1990 Same story for me, seeing the REAL side of christianity and seeing the anointed one through this man changed started a great change in my life! This time I CHOOSE to follow christ!

  • @Roboboogey1990

I hear that!!! my thought exactly!

  • STATUS?

  • Shane is an amazing speaker! I'm so greatful to have heard him speak in person a couple of weeks ago.

  • terrible comment

  • We need you! Shane Claiborn.

  • and a proud one at that, the way it should be.

  • I went to MTW where he spoke and he was awesome!!!!

  • Don't like the bit about cutting off your hand or takeing out your eye if it sins, if I cut off every part of my body that sined according to the bible, I would have to cut of nearly every part of my body.

  • its a metaphor, remove the things that cause you to sin.

If its pornography dont touch the computer when you're home alone. Dont look at those images.

It would be foolish to remove boddy parts for Jesus... What he's giving is a principle that we should remove that which cause us to stumble.

  • Actually, it's not a metaphor. We need to do anything to keep our hearts clean, even if i means suffering. It'll be worth it in heaven. After all, Jesus went through so much suffering for us, it would be foolish to not do so for him.

  • i believe Jesus meant what he said, but is cutting off your hand going to stop you from sinning? Jesus taught that sinning is in your heart. if you look lustfully at a women, you are sinning in your heart, and are committing adultery. It's not what you do or don't do, but what happens in your heart.

  • Lessis & cnnyork: I think you're missing the point. The cost of sin, as the Bible claims all over the OT, is death. Jesus is saying the cost of adultery, stealing, and sin is so painful it is equal to death or the cutting off of the hand. Thus why the cross was so painful so that the cost of sin could be paid with His sacrifice. It isn't a call to legalism; rather, a testament to exaggerate the grace He would later reveal through the cross.

  • So perhaps that is NOT what Jesus is requiring!! Jesus uses hyperbole as a teaching method... not that people should cut bits off their body... but that they might cut bits out of their lives that are not helpful for "Kingdom Living."

  • Wonderful, thanks

  • He spoke at a conference I went to a couple days ago (More than a week 2008)...he was amazing!!!

  • jesus saves! using pray you think you'll see the pearly gates as death takes you away.

  • 5 The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. 6 The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and HIS HEART WAS FILLED WITH PAIN. 7 So the LORD said, "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air—for I am grieved that I have made them."But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD

  • 9 Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God. 11 Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight and was full of violence. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. 13 So God said to Noah, "I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth."

  • The world was already dead. Humanity was destroying themselves & all around them. People messed EVERYTHING up. God just put everyone out of their misery, sparing the people who still had some sense left in them. Surely in that violent and destructive world even Noah and his family, the ONLY rightous people left in the world, would've been killed by somebody. By starting over, God saved humanity. If He didn't love His creation He wouldn't have bothered saving it through Noah and his family.

  • Amen.
