  • this is almost 3years old people and its for beginners obviously like dubspot doesnt know that these drums arent loud enough

  • whats is the name of program?

  • @BigChickenFart Protools.

  • @deadithink lol i hope you weren't serious. thats ableton.

  • @IkeProductions89 Yeah, cause it totally doesn't say so in the title, video description, and video itself. In fact I'm surprised more people people haven't asked due to how concealed the program is. I bet the producer is just trying to hide his secrets.

  • @deadithink i went to school for music production. not this school, but this is just a really basic tutorial. after everything i have learned to get my degree, i would say that most of it is available as general knowledge to the public. (not the hands on stuff) learn simple techniques like parallel compression, etc. finding good samples makes all the difference in your drums as well.

  • dude its sweet but do u record it or render it?

  • dubstep groovin... amazing stuff!

check out my REAL DUBSTEP DRUMS cover to skrillex`s kill everybody [bare noize remix[!

  • This sucks.

  • Awesome :D

Now do an FL Studios tut *Jk*

  • Percussion to the top :P So many hihats....

  • does anybody know where i could download some more drum kit variations for ableton? like all it has for me are two kick beats. no snare, cymbal, or anything.

  • @ZACHV1NES i dont really see why ableton wouldnt include those things unless its some odd demo mode or something, but even if its demo, unless youre drastically modding the sounds you wont be ablet to do much with those two kicks. have you gotten everything figured out yet?

  • @oculairus yeah i got it my buddy had some different sounds he sent to me.

  • Comment removed

  • Ableton have all dub sound and all that stuff included? or i have to take it from the net?

  • SuperED86?

  • The kick and snare sound very week. Fatten up the kick and snare, and make it have some god damn groove.

  • i have never heard any dubstep beat with that many hits ever.

  • no bass

  • this drum pattern is awful, way too much hat, and the tamborine is off ! the fuck !?

  • dear whoever the fuck thought it would be funny to insult me,

go suck your gay boyfriends dick until it drops off,

    regards,

    me.

  • im not sure if it was a custom kit but where do you get the "digital jah" kit???

  • Thanks I learned something from this video, specifically I didn't know that you can make the velocity ramps cool

  • OH MY GAWD, THE HATS!!!!

  • I was going to bone my girlfriend and she said there was-a-no way!

  • how have you changed the colour of you setup?

  • How much would abletonlive 8 cost me

  • @david231398 500 dollars unless you pirate it

  • @david231398 nothing, if you download it from the pirate bay...

  • @TheSkunkTube lol FTW

  • @david231398 Anywhere from 200 to 600 US dollars.

  • this snowflake thing is so fucking cool... BIG DISTRACTION :D

  • is that bass gated and like sidechained with the impulse ?

  • dont you want to add some variation between the first and second bar so they dont sound the same? And secondly why use tambourines instead of like a closed hat ? if anyone can answer that would be awesome

  • not bad tutorial, but it seems a little wierd to me that you were using a wobble synth patch that wobbled in triplets (or semi-triplets or whatever, my music terminology is pretty useless), but had hihats on beat.

  • i have ableton but my volume wont work for it but the volume is up and on can u help me?

  • 130-140 listen to my beats ;) share up to 1.000 views if you want beats with vocals and new ideas!

  • Could anybody please help me?

I also have Ableton Live 8 but I can't choose my VST Plug-ins. If I'm going to that Plug-In icon I only see a empty field and I can't choose anything. Could somebody please help me?! ;D

    Thank you!

  • @TheVideoGuy2804 Go to Live's preferences and look in the "file folder" section. There is a Plug-in sources area here. Make sure you have AU or VST highlighted and maybe rescan your plugins

  • @DubSpot Oh okay thank you. But if I rescan it or select manually my VST plugins and I press the 'exit' button does my VST plugin automaticly appear in that VST folder?? I hope you understand me :P

  • This guy sounds like Cris Angel .....

  • thanks for the tutorial I used your advice to make my own amateur song

visit my channelto hear it. its the only video up so yea

  • TOO MANY HIGH HATS. YES?

  • Well if you can read the video was made in 09. And the Genre has changed alot since then.

  • @handyx5 Even his name is Micheal HATsis

  • Hey guys, im new to ableton and earlier i was using my computer keyboard as a midi controller, but now its not working like it used to...I know there is a computer midi keyboard button on the top right but activating that doesnt seem to reactivate it...any tips on get it working again would be really appreciated!

  • @150buckfifty150 As a Windows user, press ctrl+shift+k

If you're on a Mac (or that Windows key combo doesn't work for you) look in the top left and go to Options>Computer MIDI Keyboard.

  • HOW DID YOU GET THAT DRUM KIT PLEASE RESPOND FAST

  • @MitchHamVids I downloaded trail version i don't have any thing... Then I tryed with cracked one/..... Same... NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLX SOME ONE!!!!!!!!!!

  • so how do you eq and compress the drums separately if you have them all on one track?

  • You sound like Sylvester Stallone :D

  • @MacGowss He sounds like Basshunter.

    Dope video btw.

  • this guy sounds exactly like Sandy Ravage!! hahaha!

  • you love hats or not? :P

  • too many hats

  • where can i get these drums and kicks?

  • how to save the musics

  • hi, i just downloaded the Live 8 demo, and have no idea what's going on..i have no external electronic instruments, so is there anything i could still do with Ableton without those tools?

  • What microphone did you use to record your voice..or did you edit it?

  • where is the digital jah bass and dub?

  • Impressive tutorial! Much clearer than some of the professional ones I've bought! (Any chance of a UK Funky/Bass one?)

  • Not a BIG deal, but I can't click the keys and hear what it sounds like. I have to place then adjust over and over. All it does when I click the key is high light that whole note section. Fix?

  • @F0XStep Click on the little headphone icon above the piano roll to sample a note.

  • "dubspot"

  • where i can find the track at 2:30 ?

  • what did you use for the bass? :)

  • lol @ people being pawns and repeating dubba johnny's sentiments expressed in ukf dubstep tutorial vip (stupid sheep). ill agree, its not the software its the user... in fact the drums in fruity seem alot better, the drum racks in ableton seem kinda bland, flat, or empty. wheres the beef? any kit/live pack suggestions?

  • @adamivie Are you fucking stupid? The way a sample sounds has SHIT to do with the fucking sampler

  • @W4RW017 that's why I asked about live pack/kit suggestions, unless your saying something productive keep your trap shut troll

  • @adamivie Seems like I misinterpreted your post. I thought you were speaking about this DAWs sampler sounding nicer by default, not talking about the sound-libraries. Abletons suite-packs I'll agree are somewhat weak <3

  • The machinegun drum sample download wont work on my computer. Im running windows on vista premium.

  • Stupid Question, My sounds dont make any sound. If I switch the Metronome on that works but the sounds still dont, help :(

  • @DubSpot where abouts did you get "Digital Jah"? I would like to download it myself if possible.

  • Do you really need a tutorial for making dubstep beats?

  • can someone please give me a link, or something for the basics of ableton im really new to it all.

  • This dude's VO voice is already straight-up pimp dubstep.

  • @MachBandWorks Straight up pimp dubstep? Could you be a poser any more?

  • is toontrack ezdrummer have something to do with this? sorry for dumb question..thanks

  • i gotta be honest, i need more cow-bell.

  • also, where did you get some of your sounds? for example, the mighty clap? i don't have that.

  • I have no fuckin idea how to even get other instruments into that piano window thing. I can only get a kick in and i dont know how to put a snare or hihats! Help me !

  • @abazabaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Just drag a drum rack from your instruments folder into a midi channel and then drag your samples onto the pads in the drumrack. Dubbleclick the pads gives you the sound shaping options. A good way to get started with ableton is to look for Sonic Academy tutorials. Good luck.

  • @Speakersoxx Thanks !

  • I <3 Dubspot

  • How come my grid numbers go from 1.2.3 to 2?

  • Hey, I'm looking for a good sample pack for drums. Anyone got any suggestions?

  • This guy is theoretically smart but has no idea what sounds good.

  • @fmitchell959 no question about it!

  • @fmitchell959 he isnt smart just brave haha

  • okay i know this is a stupid question but i just downloaded the trial and am screwing around and i was wondering how you got to the window where you can lay out your beats, its around 1:03 in the video. thanks

  • @oAnthcny if you double click on a blank cell on your midi drum track in the session view...it will bring you to the window you're talking about

  • @DubSpot

But how do I load the drum kit "digital jah" into the midi track? did you make it on your own because I couldn't find it. And when I try to combine different sounds of kick, snare, etc it won't let me because of my version (maybe because it's a 30 days trial?) thanks.

  • can someone explain me me are people using this program? i mean its has more "professional" opinion than fl studio but its bullshit. you can do whatever you want in any daw. so please, please someone tell me why using this and not so, so, so much simplier and better fl studio with patterns and playlists? sorry, but this daw looks stupid though i dont know it at all... why cant it be easier? hope someone will answer. whats so good about it?

  • @Alu142 this is Ableton Live

  • @JRDShamrock yeah, i know how to read

  • @Alu142 Well you asked...

  • @JRDShamrock i asked why people think its so why, while its has an awful sequencing system in compare to fl.

  • @Alu142 Well yeah, I'm not an expert heck I started into Music Production about a month ago, I use Reason and to be honest I prefer reason over Ableton instead, I own it as well but I have no clue what makes it the best choice I mean the less you have to do to get something like a simple beat the better right?

  • @JRDShamrock no. well, kind of. but for eg. fl studio is the easiest daw "to get something like a simple beat" but it sure isnt the best. the best is the one that you can do the best music with. thats why i am asking if sequencing on ableton is as stupid as it seems.

  • @Alu142 ableton live isn't for simple minded people like you. you can produce better and more unique sounds in ableton live if you know what you're doing, while your illegally downloaded version of fr00ty l00ps gives you not as broad of a horizon, but omg it's so e-z to make beatz!

    does that answer your question?

  • @Angrywhites yes, it does actually. you think i am a teen idiot like thousend of others who think they can download fl and make hardstyle, trance or whatever only with their pc's. fl is actually professional daw, it has a "toy" opinion because it looks easy to use. for a little example benga, skream, koan sound are using it till today. i hoped that ableton is what you say but i was disapointed with the sequencing system a lot. but now, i guess i just have to get to know it. so, thanks

  • @Angrywhites please, you have to understand that there are some really good artist out there who only use Fruity Loops. Its not the about which software you use, but about who uses the software. And you are an ignorant fuck for insulting other people in this way

  • @gameAap nobody asked you, or gives a fuck about your opinion, but i'm sure you're used to that

  • @Angrywhites Well you are probably used to being harassed by your father and cause of that you have to bitch on other people who are most probably a lot better than you in producing

  • @gameAap are you butt aggravated

  • can you make this with the 30 days trail?

  • How to import clips in Ableton Live?

  • HOW TO MAKE DUBSTEP DRUMS:

    *separate each drum

*designate a track for each drum sound

*layer tracks with multiple tracks for each drum sound

*use ghost/low cut hi hats for dynamics (used a lot by skrillex and liquid stranger)

*out of say three of your kick and snare tracks, add a compressor to one of them and limit the gain.

from layering, you can have loud, full sounding drums without hitting redblock right away! :D

  • yeah....ableton makes my mixes sound a HELL of a lot better...and its not that hard to learn once you get the hang of it...

  • ** its control draggin in windows. alt draggin changed velocity.

  • Dude u are awesome ....helped me a lot:D

  • @MrMasterDymix Thanks, glad this helped!

  • he sounds like fps russia hahah

  • where i can find the drum kit and other sound stuff?

  • i have live 8.2.2 is making dubstep any different on that?

  • That thing your using to put the beats on... where did that come from? Your video just kind of jumped I don't know how to pull that up D:

  • @McSorceroUS Live Devices > instruments, and click on Drum Rack and drag it to a new track or down there.

  • @StrangerDubstep Actually that wasn't working for me, It wasn't regularly open. It did open when I pressed shift + tab though. So I got it :D Thank you.

  • @McSorceroUS No problem :)

  • fl studio 10 is the shittt

  • awesome and helpful. but, please tell me this was just an example and your real stuff is a lot better...?

  • HI. I have no prior experience to using this kind of software. The only music software I have used is Fruity Loops and that was making Hardstyle music. Is this a good program to start with? I reall want to mkae dubstep so if you could help me out I would really appreciate it =)

  • @AndroxineVortex FL Studio is good for making dubstep too ;)

  • @AndroxineVortex Bro...Ableton makes ALL!!!

  • Yoh! Thank YOU for this tutorial, this is how I usually make my drums now...I wanna learn how to make a lfo wobble sorta transform n slow down, kinda like in the intro to this vid...can u make a tutorial for midi warping if thats what its called? Splendid n tremendous help my man ;) much respect...UK

  • the part at 2:1o where you say you are "Option dragging" on mac or "Alt dragging" on pc is Wrong.....to dplicate that on a Pc you need to use "CTRL Drag"

  • @muffinmanx1 or just drag... on windows 7

  • @Jackass4850 nope your wrong...to duplicate something you cant just drag it, you need to tell it to duplicate what your clicking by holding "Cntrl"...other wise everything would be duplicatible....im on windows 7.

  • @muffinmanx1 oh well, for some reason just draggin works with me. maybe a setting? I havent changed anything from the defaults.

  • I watch your video just for the awesomely soothing voice

  • how do you get the dub kick and stuff?

  • Anyone else notice the "8::D" in the title?

  • @nelzolsen Yup

  • @nelzolsen I didn't, cause unlike you, i'm not looking for a penis in every title of a youtube video....

  • @TheSpect0r Is that because if you wanted to find a penis all you would have to do is look at your ass?

  • Where did you get the dub kick and mighty clap?

  • People Talk Shit, But You Have To Admit, These are the Best Tutorials on Ableton on YouTube. DubSpot Rocks.

  • This guy sounds like The family guy Yoda

  • Help meeeee how do u get the not thing up at 1:05 and can u do that with any instrument?

  • hi, can you give me a link to somewhere i can get kick samples, and snares and of the such? i have been trying but all i find are loops of multiple drums, not just one sample. thanks!

  • great tutorial but i have a quiestion:

why is it that when i press tab to organize it in the other view, i can't bring in one sound or beat and then take it out? when i want to play the song with a different beat coming in, it won't work. It only plays all of my sounds and beats together, which doesn't allow me to construct a song. Suggestions?

  • In that drumrack machine thing... can i use a compressor on the kick without effecting the rest of the drumhits?

  • dude your a total bad ass, thank you

  • is ableton better then fl studio??

  • @MNewt830 Reason 5 is better than ableton and fl

  • @yuri240 lol why do you say that?

  • @yuri240 reason 5 is easy to use, but the audio output of reason is a joke and you can't get it loud enough and punchy enough compared to tunes makes in other programs. Even by layering 4 of everything its still weak as after mastering and limiting the hell out of everything. Unless you have a miracle way to get reason loud? My bro uses the same drum hits from the same sample packs as I was using in Reason (he uses Fl) and he doesnt have to layer to achieve decent punch and loudness.
