I listen to Punk Rock, most of the sub-genre's and fusion-genre's involving Punk Rock, Alternative Rock, some Heavy Metal, Space-Rock and Acoustic, but i am generally open-minded to any style of music (besides Pop), I've recently got into the more old-school Hip-Hop like Public Enemy, Run DMC, NWA and other artists like that and i REALLY like it, i've always thought modern day comerciallised rap and "hip-hop" was just terrible. So do not "slag off" a genre, just based on its new school material.
Hey pakishock91, I just want to say that Rap isn't traditional music, so it doesn't sound musical like more traditional music. But hey, it's music. Music is music. And it is based off the same basic Blues structure that country, Jazz, and Rock is based off of. Yes, it is more lyrical, so your right, it is the way to go lyrically. It is my opinion that most Rock sucks in that area. And I would say that Classical, Jazz, and any music thats avent garde is better then most rock musically. Peace
Rap isn't real music.. It's just poetry with the same simple beat playing throughout the whole song. If you're into lyrical music, then rap is the way to go. If you want real music with feeling, emotion and epicness to it, metal and orchestra music is the best.

Well I have to agree, people didn't give hip hop a chance back in the late 80's early 90's and to be honest I respect the pioneers because they had a lot to over come. Now hip hop is a shadow of its former self with nothing to offer, maybe its time for a history lesson unfortunately kids now don't care about the roots of hip hop and that is sad to say the least.

I feel that a good rapper such as Mos Def probably has better lyrical ability and a more complex rhyming skills then someone that sings country music. I listen to Punk Rock, most of the sub-genre's and fusion-genre's involving Punk Rock, Alternative Rock, some Heavy Metal, Space-Rock and Acoustic, but i am generally open-minded to any style of music (besides Pop), I've recently got into the more old-school Hip-Hop like Public Enemy, Run DMC, NWA and other artists like that and i REALLY like it, i've always thought modern day comerciallised rap and "hip-hop" was just terrible. So do not "slag off" a genre, just based on its new school material.

Hey pakishock91, I just want to say that Rap isn't traditional music, so it doesn't sound musical like more traditional music. But hey, it's music. Music is music. And it is based off the same basic Blues structure that country, Jazz, and Rock is based off of. Yes, it is more lyrical, so your right, it is the way to go lyrically. It is my opinion that most Rock sucks in that area. And I would say that Classical, Jazz, and any music thats avent garde is better then most rock musically. Peace

Rap isn't real music.. It's just poetry with the same simple beat playing throughout the whole song. If you're into lyrical music, then rap is the way to go. If you want real music with feeling, emotion and epicness to it, metal and orchestra music is the best.

Well I have to agree, people didn't give hip hop a chance back in the late 80's early 90's and to be honest I respect the pioneers because they had a lot to over come. Now hip hop is a shadow of its former self with nothing to offer, maybe its time for a history lesson unfortunately kids now don't care about the roots of hip hop and that is sad to say the least.

Hip hop is poetry over music. If you want to someone wants to bash hip hop saying it takes no skill then you should also bash poetry. I feel that a good rapper such as Mos Def probably has better lyrical ability and a more complex rhyming skills then someone that sings country music. Well, you know it's mostly a generational thing. I hear so many people out there who're saying that modern pop music doesn't matter anymore because it just sucks--it doesn't have any appeal. I think that's because they're stuck inside their own idea of what "real music" is, and what turns them on, but then I guess there'll be someone around twenty years from now, talking about how some other, "purist" form of music had been corrupted by new influences.

You're totally right.I know for sure that rapping is not as easy as it looks.I've seen many people try to rap and fail.I've seen many people say that rappin is easy but they never even bother trying they just assume it doesn't require talent and they're dead wrong.When you listen to a real rapper like Big Pun or Immortal Technique that's when you realize it's an art form and the meaning goes beyond the surface of the words you listen.

why do these videos have come up when im watching opeth rock out but since im here might as well comment. All i can say is i hate hip hop ive listend to plenty because i have friends who listen to it and its all garbage. Ive heard tupac biggie and all that and its the same bs oh i came from the hood now i got chains and money and oh i used to sell drugs blah blah blah.... Its not original or talented and most of them have to use autotune to sound have way decent.

I dont like the mainstream bullshit u see on mtv. people who say they hate rap draw their conclusions from the mainstream shit. there is good rap out there but for some reason the fuck-asses we see on TV who rap about "ice, whips, hoes, money" r profitable. In twenty years I can guarantee you that not a single one of the hip hop or rap artists will still be touring or making "music". Aerosmith have been touring for decades, as many other bands, such as ACDC, Guns 'n' Roses...I could go on. The thing about hip hop is there are no legends, there are rock legends. Legends that people will never forget.HipHop,yeah,its popular but it is not memorable.There is nothing special or fantastic about it.The genre might not disappear soon, but the artists will.
