  • i just volunteered for the Rural Fire Service of NSW, i cant wait to get my training started, i might be needed this Christmas, and im sick of watching the yearly fires on t.v i wanna help, and if it costs my life to protect neighbors ive never meet, ill pass it up happily just to know it was for a good cause.

  • @shiyboy4 what a joke u are

  • I am CFA Volunteer from Horsham Vic, It was a tough day, but the heroes aren't just us, its the Police, Ambos and Firies, all those who were called to Arms to fight this beast, inclusing young children. I saw a 10 year old with a wet blanket beating a spot fire in Horsham. Those who were involved are all HEROES

  • i know all cfa and mfb are working so hard on those bushfire i am glad they are so hero of this bushfire fighter and i am glad they save the tree and some people and i love the song as well

  • hat comes off with a large sound of clapping as a tear rolls down my face PROUD!!!

  • wtf?

who drinks that rubbish anyways only foreigners.

  • I totally agree with you on that one any business that sacks these volunteer fire fighters should be boycotted full stop, If it wasn't for the CFA more homes & lives would have been lost. I have just applied to become a brigade member in my local area & it's something I have always wanted to do but never got round to doing it. KEEP UP THE FANTASTIC WORK CFA VICTORIA & THE NATION ARE VERY PROUD OF YOU.

  • a very big thank you to all our CFA people...you work tirelessly to help us..

i live in the dandenongs and i'm so grateful to you all..thank you and god bless you all

  • I really like your video, so much that for the first time I am commenting on a video. Wouldn't it be great if whenever someone saw a SES, CFA, Firebrigade personal, paramedic or police personal they went up to them shoock thier hand and said THANKYOU.

  • Please catch these monsters and let the public at them!

  • so so sad what happen.

I would like to do something to all affected with these fires.

I am an Architect In Preston not very far.

I am an Architect In Preston not very far.

Spread the word Archiscale we help design new Homes for these people with free 3D Plans and new ideas to prevent this again.

  • Thats very generous of you. My new video is about Black Saturday and there are links provided in the description box about how people can help. Contacting the Red Cross would be your best bet. They are overseeing a lot of the donations, as are the major banks and Bunnings.

Once again, the Aussie spirit amazes me. We band together and we rebuild. This makes my heart swell with pride.

  • I love australia and VIC. Very tragic that a people who is so nice and good to everyone has to experience things like this. They do not deserve it.. Take care all!

  • are you a cfa vollie

  • Not yet, but will be soon! About to start training. When I made this vid I lived in a very suburban metro area, now I am in the Dandenong Ranges, and even though we are only 35 mins from the city, we are always under threat of firet here. I have wanted to join for ages and now I am about to. We hear the sirens go off daily in Summer, and quite a few times a day, too. I just want to help in some way.

    *........Banshee steps off her soapbox........*

  • nice work

  • Thanks for the video mate. I'm a volunteer in Vic, and was involved with these fires. We've had problems with people stealing equipment and gear from our fire station; it's nice to know that some people still appreciate what we do.

  • hey could you tell me about firefighting, im 14 and im curious to know about them, and medical stuff, Because I want to be one

  • Check out your local CFA website, just google CFA and you should find it.You need to be 16 to vollie and you need to be uber fit!Run laps of the local park wearing heavy boots,5 pairs of jeans, about 5 sweaters and the heaviest jacket you can find. Then addd a back pack weighing about 80 kilos, and make sure its on a day over 35 degrees. These guys endure this and much more. You can take a first aid course anytime through St Johns, they also have a site.Good onya and goodluck mate.

    xoxo

  • Oh and drink PLENTY of water!!!!!!

  • Pretty much what LittleMissBanshee said mate... although I dunno about the fitness part ;) Being fit does help, but you'll get fit anyway just being in the brigade, as long as you participate! A lot fo brigades run a Junior Brigade that you can join when you're 11 - you get to do all the training except you just can't get on the truck to a real fire until you're 16. Good luck mate, we need more enthusiastic young people in the CFA :)

  • thanks very much, also vision requirements??? I think I have 20/40 which legaly I can drive without glasses. I have reading glasses, but I barley wear them.

Im quite fit anyway,I can run about 2Ks, which I suppose isent enough but yea. And im pretty strong. Anyways, vision requirements is my concern.

  • I wouldnt think its a prob. If you are fighting fires, burning off, doing drills etc you have to wear protective eyewear anyway. fukawi2 might be able to answer that one faster than me, but I doubt it would be an issue.

  • thanks very much, you have been really helpful =)

  • Vision certainly won't be a problem for being a vol. There will be some things you can't do if you need glasses, such as wearing the Breathing Apparatus, purely because the glasses won't fit inside the mask :) But without glasses, as long as you recognise your own limits as a vol, there shouldn't be a problem. If you're aiming to be a career firey, then the medical requirements a fair bit higher. You also need VCE!

  • VCE not a problem, I want to be the one who either has the hoses or goes inside the house to get people out. Or secures the building to see if no one els is in there etc. I dont actully need to wear glasses. Only technicly when I get eye strain from to much computer lol. I want to be a full time firefighter.

  • You want to be a baggy-ass firey :P It's all good! Training you do as a vol won't be recognised when you become staff, but having the background is a big help, and often assists with the interview process if they know you've got experience as a vol and have some idea what it's like being a firey. there's some goog info on the CFA website, but YouTube doesn't appear to want to let me post links so you'll have to Google it. There's a whole section on there about becoming a career firey.

  • Yea I read it all pretty much, but there isent anything o nvision requirements. Also heights, except maybe if Im on the edge of a building with barrier smaller then my waist then I might get freaked out...But other then that, Im not afraid of heights either. So vision is my only concern

  • Fantastic comment! I didnt know about the junior Brigade, thanks so much for the infio. I might add some site links in the description box for those interested. I have had tonnes of emails asking how and where to join up, so all it can do is help! Cheers mate :o)

  • There's a good FAQ page on the CFA website, but I can't post links here, so you'll have a do a quick Google, sorry.

  • Ok peeps I have posted links requested in the sidebar. If there are any more you guys want that are relevant let me know and I will pop them up.

    xoxo

  • Oh boy that sucks.Stealing from the CFA,absolute degenerates.I bet you guys are the first they call when they need help. The CFA are amazing and I live in the Dandenong Ranges,so I am always hearing the sirens go off,and every time they do I think of the sacrifice you guys make and your amazing work in the face of danger.Sorry guys and gals but to me you are all heroes!I know quite a few vollies personally and the smell of their jackets always remind me of Ash Wednesday. We almost lost our house.

  • hey mate great vid, i'm a fulltime firefighter and i was at these fires, belive it or not the light's on our truck melted

  • I believe it! They were so bad. Now these fires in Gipsland are out of control and some git is lighting them on purpose - it makes my blood boil...

  • nice

  • Thanks for this video. Im a volunteer firefighter and it means alot to be thanked for what we do even though we dont ask for it. We are just there to protect life and property.

  • this is a great video, i'm a vollie from tasmania, i just joined up ,but i've seen my dad go out the door at all hours for days on end because of stuff like this and it's good to know that people appreciate what we do. well done.

  • thanks guys we really appreciate it , it is tough to do that kind of thing and most of us are volunteers we don't get paid we risk out lives to help out other people

  • i was one of hem fire fighters in the vid

well done i say it was a bad fire season well done mate

  • Too all the volunteer fire fighters out there keep up the fantastic work & lets hope that it will be a quiet year so you can spend more time with the family.

  • One of the many reasons i won't be moving to australia....

  • thank christ for that, even less soft cunts we dont need or want.

  • what?

  • he's saying ur a fucking weak cunt, and you need to harden the fuck up, or you wouldn't make out it here anyway. if ur afraid of a little fire and smoke, then don't even bother coming here, its a fact of life. we have a lot of bushland, and it all burns sooner or later. Also, thanks for the tribute mate, i know its already been said a few times, but it means a lot to be recognised. Thankyou

  • im a weak cunt because i'd rather live in a country without the risk of fire, where we dont have to restrict our showers to 5 minutes and we can waste all the water we want without the fear of dying from thirst.... nah, im just happy to be here.

  • OK peeps, yall need to just calm down a tad. Posting anti - Australian comments on a vid dedicated to AUSTRALIAN fireys is just to cause shit. And dude, you cant be serious? Global Warming is called GLOBAL for a reason. We may have water restrictions, but I bet we are far more aware of conserving our resources than other westernised countries. Aussies "do their bit" Maybe you should start doing yours before its too late. And quit it with the flaming- no pun intended

  • Well said! Thanks for the clip.

  • hmm. true harry chown- but look at how many more things australia has interesting that u can do than the UK :)

  • Outstanding. I have been a Rural Firie for 10 years and this is magic. Well done.

  • well done great video :)

  • as a CFA volunteer i back up what RFSBFARNSWORTH2 says. thanyou

    CFA Volunteer

  • Great Vid, Good to see the work we do gets recognised,

regards NSW RURAL FIRE SERVICE FIREFIGHTER

  • I agree, AWSOME video. It is nice to know that the job we do is appreciated. I am a volly in SA, and I love what I do, but I do not consider myself a hero. I do what I am trained to do, that is to protect Life, Property and the Environment.

  • I agree with LilBAFire my mum and dad are vollys and i wanted to follow in there footsteps for 16 years i'n now trained for low structure and wildfire i dont think it's a hero thing it's more the enjoyment and the feelings you get from what you do.

  • AWESOME video well done.

  • Great Vid! Thanks for making it!

    S.A FireFighter.

  • Excellent! Thankyou.

  • Hey LittleMissBanshee!

Thank you so much for appreciating our efforts across all the services both paid and unpaid throughout Australia. I Must say it's people like yourself that really make the hard gutsy work on the end of a hoseline or a dirty, hard slog on a rakehoe all worthwhile. Thank you so much :)

    Rumble

  • I am a volenteer fire fighter from Queensland, and I would like to thank you for the appreciation you have by making this video dedicated to other fire fighters in Australia and NZ.

To know there are people out there who support what we do, and appreciate it is touching. Most people expect the volenteer service, without any thanks. So thank you.

  • I haven't been here in a while but, great job on this video :)

  • The United States has the same problem every spring and summer. And every year it gets worse as the climate becomes more dry and inhospitable in places. We did not hear of any of this in our news here during December...Our media tends to hide problems occurring in the rest of the world, especially if it's of a global warming nature.

  • Thats a shame. Our Prime Minister has been on every channel over here in the past week because he is ignoring global warming issues too.

  • This is so awesome! I happen to agree with yo Fireman are so underpaid for the selfless job they do . Thank you for sharin' you RAWK!@ Peace, health & Hugs to you & Yours

  • hey littlemissbanshee, i'm with the CFA and i think that's the best video i've ever seen. Congrats mate, you've done us all proud.

  • Cheers :)

  • yeh it is a shame that it all had to happen. n what i find stupid is when were out there on the fire ground we have other idiots lighting other fires else where. but its awesome we have ppl like you that admire our work...and its ppl like you that are the heros that do this for us firefighters

  • yeah mate i gotta say you have done awesome on this slide show!!!they were really bad fires i tell ya that but to have you put it up like this is awesome

11/10 for that mate keep up the good work!!

  • Bloody great slideshow, great work

  • Thanks so much!

  • Omg , thats awful, I had no idea until I watched your video, you are all in my prayers.

    Much Love,

    Sheryl : )

  • Very powerful video, well done 5 stars!!!

    Much Love,

    Sheryl : )

  • yeh im with the RFS in NSW only been in it for bout a year and love it but we aint heros just dedicated as they say

  • even though I didn't get to the areas shown I'll pass on your thanks to those who did.

We're not in it for the glory or to be recognised as heros but as the CFA slogan goes - "Ordinary People doing an Extraordinary Job". Nothing more nothing less.

  • Thank you. We`re not really heroes, just dedicated.

  • Thankyou for doing your bit to try to get these monster sized fires under control. You guys truly are heroes. I would buy you all a beer if I could. I can't even se my back fence because the smoke is so thick, and Im in the suburbs! Get some much needed rest, and have a safe, and Merry Chrismas.

  • Good Work!. I've just returned from fighting these fires in Victoria and its great to know people out there aknowledge and recognise our work. Thankyou

  • They sure do. What really pisses me off are the idiots that light them on purpose.

  • These guys work there buts off and they deserve some recognition! Great vid Banshee! :) Steph.

  • if you think you got no rain there you should come to arizona lol.... stay safe over there..

  • Thanks so much :) The problem is we have had no rain, and everything is so dry. The men and women that battle these blazes are amazing.

  • cool, great tribute. we have forest fires in the summer, we would have no forest if not for the brave men and women that protect us and our woods. cheers.

  • Ta :)

  • This is a great video you did awesome!

  • Thanks Debs :)

  • You did a great job on this video. I hope they get the fires under control soon!!
