Well they have the Xtreme Energy cam for Pontiac 455s in 274 for Hydraulic Flat Tappet and they have a 276 version for Hydraulic Roller, so really if he would have explained what type cam it was it would probly make things make sense, im saying its probly a Hydraulic Roller cam

Sounds like a 274. I had a 280 and it was harder to keep it idle under 1000rpm.
