I've new to puppet building, and I've been scouring the 'net for ages trying to find a decent, clear description of how people make moving jaw mechanisms. Thank-you thank-you thank-you sir! This is exceedingly helpful. You rock!
Just wonderful,a blessing to have people like you. What do you call it when there are three puppets all connected with moving mouth rod devices that operates at the same time like for singing in harmony together....Can you please give a demonstration on how to make that?.........Thank you for your skills and time..........
@dextersimon Unfortunately I've never made anything like that, so I can't help you out there. But keep googling for something like that I'm sure there's a resource out there.
i love what you said about when the hardwear guy asks you what your making ..... I always have to hang my head becasue I'm always making something very weird , soap , pinball machines. woodcarving stuff , or guitars
hey that was really imformative! thanks for sharing your simple (and very creative) solution to a mouth/rod puppet. Ive been trying to figure out how to do mine, and your video has given me some ideas. Only difference is my 'puppet' is a very thin banana. Im not sure I can 'imbed' all of that armature into such a tiny space.. But maybe I can scale the contraption down... any thoughts? thanks!
That sounds like a tough squeeze, but most of the stuff I used has a smaller version. I like to wander around the big box hardware stores for solutions to present themselves. Good luck!

Nice. The head rod idea is really well made - and simple. The pig seems to move really well too from the other clip I saw.
I Think wire hand rods hide better though, like the muppets use.
