  • The fake crowd noise is annoying as fuck.

  • I don't have the words to express how much I love Hawkwind, I even got to see them when they toured the states in the 80s, it was one of the best days of my life.

  • I know this was back when Lemmy was the guitarist but which one is him? I just dont recognize him without his beard

  • @JimMonroeable He is the one singing at 0.45 sec, with the bass! To my knowledge, he never played guitar in hawkwind.

  • @JimMonroeable i think he's the bassist

  • Lemmy's best acid-rock daze before he formed Motorhead.

  • I would love to hear Lemmy do this live with Motorhead.I have never seen Hawkwind if they are still around would like to for the experience I was only 5yrs. old when this was taped.

  • I wish I had some of what the people in the audience ate that night! That guy brushing his hair back at the beginning looks like hes flying!

  • of intercourse mate !

  • If you don't move to this , you must be dead !!

  • I was there that night. Dunstable Queensway Hall 7/7/72. Recorded for TOTP by the BBC as H/W would only be recorded live. Wot a gig.it was. The price of a ticket was £0.60p. I got in for zilch as my mum worked there.

  • i wished he got a time machine i would soon be on it back to 1972 get away from this 2010 crap society listen to some real music again

  • Classic jam from the 70's.I seem to recall seeing them at the Mardi Gras in Liverpool (hey, I was trip'n,man......LOL!!!!!)

  • The guy on the flute is thinking 'Fuck I wish I was Lemmy'

  • @drseussy No cus he is hawkwind it's self!

  • My most loved band since I heard "'Quark Strangeness and Charm" in '77. Then all the wonderful earlier material. Alas, here in Australia, I have never had a chance to see Dave Brock and the ever-changing line-up live. So wish I'd been there for those early years ... and remaining years for TOURING. C'mon, come to Australia. I've spent 30 years of my life listening to Hawkwind and playing on community radio - you are a much beloved band here.

  • space out man,far out man,saw this group in delft holland when i was 15.

man what was i stoned.nice to see after all these years.and he could play the guitar as wel.dont remember the joint they play.t though.was it the ":eland:?.

  • Nice post - I saw the tour in Queens University - Whitla Hall around that time 1972 ish and yes, Stacia did dance in the nip some of the time - did a 17 year olds heart good. Never forgot Hawkwind though :P

  • Professor Stephen Hawking overlooked the HAWKWIND effect when he stated that travel backwards through time is impossible, because their music takes me back to my youth every time!!

  • doesn't it seem 'tame' by comparison to todays music?

  • ohshit, how much drugs do you need?

  • man lemmy sounds soooooooooo different

  • this is jus fukking awesome

  • flutes & rock music are a bad combo

  • Terrific stuff!! what a driving rhythm and vibe.

  • That was unworldly incredible.

  • Origins of the punk movement for sure!

    Classic material.

  • who was the girl gorgeous chick

  • @shanondor Her name is Stacia, she was a well known component of the band, though she was a fan and not officially a band member :-)

  • saw this tour when it hit the Santa Monica Civic (wonder if there is a live document of that show?). this was the same venue where the TAMI Show was filmed in 1964!!

  • Yes Lemmy's voice...is so much purer than on "Ace of Spades" Which I think he made 8 or 10 years later...it's like a completley different person..didn't know he "sang" this one ! !

  • This is great. There's hardly any Brock in it and some lovely Stacia shots. Viva!

  • God the70`s weren`t quite that shit after all.

  • this was all underground music

  • @peaceman1234567 The '70s were the best. It's the '80s that sucked.

  • wish there was more footage of older hawkwind like this

  • If you'd like more of this, go check out the BBC4 documentary call " Hawkwind - Do not panic".

You might appreciate all the footage in it!

  • finally... true video evidence of the birth of god... lemmy

  • I saw this vid back in 1972 when it was first shown on Top of the Pops, still trying to wonder how the flautist coupled his flute up to the amp!

  • she is awesome....

  • she used to be naked !!

  • I don't think you should have told me that, for health reasons :-)

  • hawkwind, top draw, not pop, good!!!

    and keep it that way,

modern bands are nothing more than media hype crap, listened to by numbtys who think they are the new best thing, good good..god...ha,ha!!!

  • I Love this band i wish more people knew them

  • Lemmy hasnt changed a whole lot has he really, except his vocals, and he is a better bassist now...

  • love em seen em 6 times allways triping

  • I remember when hawkwind were good before lemmy and stasis used to dance mmmmmmmmmmmm lovely it was.

  • Heh. Hawkwind used to spike the audience's drinks and lock all the doors.

  • Anyone remember when Hawkwind were fucking good !! ?

  • Pops took me to see them when I was 12!

    Never really recovered!

  • love the bubbles

  • love this video... lemmy at his naive, out-of-yr-head best.. the bubble girl... so cool... what's MDMA?

  • MDMA is Ectasy

  • Its what living is all about!!

  • I just love that woman.

  • grande Lemmy !!

  • whats that girl doing?

  • Trippin.

  • LOL, Yeah what of it.

  • i remember being at this show...

    saw Hawkwind a few times...

even read the book... Time of the HawkLords ... back in mid 70's...

    thanks for this video posting...

    be well, happy, and peaceful

be a ray of love and light...

  • got like 5 albums

  • Fabulous

  • Timeless!

  • Everyone is high in this video.. MDMA..? Marijuana? Makes you doesn't!

  • MDMA? LMAO - it's 1972 dude - try LSD - MDMA was an 80's drug.

  • its ecstacy bro.

  • MDMA was invented by the pharmacutical co. Merck in 1912. Became popular in the 1980's, illegal by 1985/6. If you were in the know about drugs back then (1972) , you could find Ecstacy... Not that I necessarily think they are on ecstacy in this clip, just clearing up some facts

  • Acid mate. i was there on this tour f*ucking awsome

  • you seen this video live?

  • iih peerfeitoo meu ! mó viageen ai

  • lemmy had a diffrent voice compared to nowadays :P Is that becouse he's getting old or the drinking and smoking :P XDnever mind motorhead and hawkwind are cool

  • ahaha,ya,he probably just made is voice deeper purposely for motorhead.

  • agree!

  • Try to find someone in this video that is not completely wasted!

  • they use double base drum in 1972?

  • YO check out Louie Bellson, he started the whole double bass thing in the 40's

  • shit...i just watched it. Thanks for introducing, man.

  • what year is this from

  • Errm. It's sort of in the title - 1972. I saw them doing this live in 1972 at Derwent college York University. Very good fun, but sadly Stacia didn't get her kit off, but otherwise it was a superb show.

It was pretty groundbreaking stuff for the 70's; but so was the whole decade.

  • oh yeah lol i didnt see that

  • I never get tired of this one.

  • @fenderboy88

you're a fuckin dickhead yourself asshole

  • we aint smokin' no marijuana, we aint getting high off of no LSD

  • I am!

  • Lemmy's cool.

  • woooooooooooooooow

  • Thanks!!!

  • Bunch of coneheads

  • hace muchos años me decia un amigo q escuchase a esta banda, y yo ni caso.... que buenos! alguno me podeis decir q canciones son d las mejores d ellos, plissss

  • The flute ties the whole thing together.

    I know when I see Motorhead now I think 'what's missing... I know...flute...(and maybe a tambourine).

  • Chuckle. If only Lemmy would blow bubbles with a magic wand before launching into "Killed By Death" then Motorhead might finally be respected in heavy metal circles.

  • lemmy is just as ugly young as he is old...

  • rock & roll=drugs=rock & roll

    this is an important formula

  • that formula should be in all math book

  • Be sure to check the dj hell version on this classic track.

  • never thought i'd see young Lemmy

  • Hawkwind is an experience

    Stacia has big tits

  • Great ! This is the Hawkwind I loved & remember, tnx !

  • Lemmy from motorhead

  • of course mate!

  • @highwaytohe11

    there is another lemmy?

  • @mofosixx Very well could be, where he grew up it was a very common nickname.

  • @mofosixx no its lemmy from motorhead

  • @mofosixx

    No, it's the same Lemmy.

  • Stacia, she was hawkwind dancer at that time.

  • FINE salute, Stacia! Good form, that.

  • Man, I miss taking drugs!

  • Will you marry me, progressivejennifer? I know, all too well, how rare it is (these days) to find a woman, who - not only knows what Hawkwind is, but - also appreciates their music!

  • HellFire Red presents: Space Ritual: A Tribute to Hawkwind with Tommy Grenas, Pete Stahl, Mario Lalli, Brant Bjork, Ruben Romano, Ed Mundell and many more at the Knitting Factory (Los Angeles) on April 17th!!

  • Amazin shizzle. Meh likes.

  • Das war noch Musik !!!!!!!!!

    70´ forever !

  • Lemmy was old even when he was young, it's a paradox.

  • Listen to the Motorhead song Capricorn.

  • Yeah, when he was born he was already old.

Like Benjamin Button, but without the getting younger part... and kicking a lot more asses.

  • What great stuff!!

  • follow the hawk!

  • that guy they show at 1st is fucking triping balls lol

  • I think everyone in the place (band included) is tripping balls! He's probably just tripping more balls than (most of ) the others. Back in the day, my friends and I would each drop a 4-way hit, crank the volume all the way up, and embark/depart upon a Hawkwind 'flight': listening to and replaying their songs and albums for hours.... One thing about Hawkwind (besides their experimentation and innovation with synthesizers), they always played (as well as tripped) their balls off!

  • wow, thats lemmy singing???amazing, but imagine you were on acid and listen to this song; you would go nuts

  • Is this really Silver Machine being played? This may sound silly, but I thought the version with Lemmy on the vocals was overdubbed from a version that Bob Calvert did at the Roundhouse.

  • lemmy did the overdub, because he was the only one singing in the right way; in white line fever lemmy writes that bob was kind of high at the gig and sounded terible so they had to dub it for the recorded version

  • oh besides, lemmy was high on speed, acid dope and booze if you can believe white line fever; and I believe every word

  • yeah, and i'm sure you would like 'em to suck on your small penis you retard. just get the fuck out of places you dont like and get a life. There's the new u2 or britney spear video around.

  • go fuck yourself

  • THIS IS FUCKING HAWKWIND WITH FUCKING LEMMY AND YOU SAY THEY FUCKING SUCKS??? WELL SUCKER GO HOME AND JERK OFF ON 50Cent OR ONE OF THIS PLASTIC POP BITCHES AND DON´T TALK SHIT ON AMAZING MUSIC LIKE THIS...FUCK YOU

  • i don't think anyone said it sucks, they were talking about some issue with the recording.

  • look on the other comments;there´s one from a dude with nicknames mustardsucks(you will recognice it,it has -9) who said it sucks;this commment was my answer to it,but somehow it has appeared here;sorry if you get it the wrong way,I didn´t mind to insult some body(except mustardsucks)

  • Sorry, you'll have to make a revision: mustardsucks now has a -10....

  • well fucking said

  • +++STOP PRESS++++8 MARCH 2009 ROUNDHOUSE ALL-DAYER CANCELLED The Space Ritual 2009:

  • lemmy es un dios yeahhh, my hero

  • so fucking cool!!! It would be so awesome to hear them live..

  • Yeah I saw them at the Wyeside festival last summer and they were amazing. Although I did have tinnitus for two days after it lol

  • These are the days!!!

  • great

  • Ok guys - question - how old was I when i first saw Hawkwind live - (ps peace and love to all at Atom Henge)

  • Whoah.. Lemmy did have a clean voice back then...

  • lemmy drove this line up .

    cool as fuck.

  • Epic song. Epic performance.

  • I'd say you were the dork, simply for calling this amazing band dorks.

  • Very Spacious! When is someone going to post the video to Urban Guerrilla?

  • I wish my role in a band could be "dosed guy in facepaint"

  • Maybe if you looked, and performed, like Stacia!

  • What a fantastic song. What a fantastic video. Youtube at it's best. All rock fans should see it! 100% Superb.

  • Thanks!

  • reminds me of the velvets doing "sister ray"

  • How much fun is that?

  • Whenever my teenage nieces see clips of people from the late 60s/early 70s like this, they always say, "People looked so much cooler back then."

  • We were cool! so glad to have been born when I was...... and I'm still a 'free spirit' .... happy and loving life and music.... esp. from 60/70s but there's some great bands again now getting their influences from the past.

  • Oh great! Yes, I remember the weather being somewhat dismal but there was a good turn out al the same. I can't remember how I got home to Loughton though, Harlow always felt like it was out in the sticks as far as public transport was concerned. Lovely memories.

  • What a song. What a video. It must have been great being there.

  • It was! :-0)))))))x

  • This rules so hard I can't even take it

  • I love Stacia!!!!!

  • How many tabs of acid did they give that girl?

  • fuck knows but at th begining of the show lemmy and dik mik had to be proped up due to the speed, acid, cocain, dope, and downers the binged on b4 th show

  • Hell, that's good to hear(!), esp. since we used to do the same while listening to them....

  • they didnt like drugs!thats the reason that they kicked lemmy out

  • Not exactly right. According to Lemmy they just didn't like the kind of drugs that he was doing, which was speed. He was a motörhead & (@ the time) an acidhead, they were just acidheads and pinheads.. Ah well, awesome vid btw, thnx PheonixRise6 for posting!

  • To skam31I: I heard it was because he took too much of the 'wrong' drug.

  • i dunno but shes fuckin hot.

  • You mean she was hot. This was recorded the year before you were born if your age is accurate. Meaning she's old enough to be your mother. Hell, that might be your mom.

  • VERY VERY VERY FUCKING CRAZY !

  • Anyone remember Hawkwind performing this at a free concert in Harlow Town Park? Haven't a clue what year it was, anyway it made a change from the Wake Arms where they played frequently in the late 60s

  • A jubilee concert is taking place on August 27 40 years after the very first gig at the same place in London. See the Hawkwind page for more info. Will try to be there. At least I will see them in Oslo in April

  • Wow!!should be impressive 40 years on.

  • Yes, I remember it well.I caught a bus from Romford to Harlow with a few friends and sat there watching Hawkwind and Michael Moorcock. I seem to remember it was pouring with rain and we sat under a big sheet of plastic someone had. Ahhh! those were the days.

  • Oh great! Yes, I remember the weather being somewhat dismal but there was a good turn out al the same. I can't remember how I got home to Loughton though, Harlow always felt like it was out in the sticks as far as public transport was concerned. Lovely memories.

  • the audience, the band...they were all tripping like crazy on acid

  • who was dik mik?

  • the one who played that machine that generated the wierd noises.
