Joe Montana was a great quarterback surrounded by even better talent. That was something Dan never had. Joe never faced nickle and dime packages on every play with no running game. Well Marino was a great QB for sure. But he still would not be ranked higher than QBs like Montana and Elway. The main thing that separates them are rings and Marino whether people like it or not wasnt able to win the big one. Montana of course one of the most winning QBs of all time while Elway was able to have one of the greatest finishes to any career by winning back to back SBs. It is just a shame that Marino didnt get a super bowl ring to be really ranked up with those guys

completely wrong...Elway was far superior to Marino from start to finish...drafted higher than marino, won more games as a starting QB, dragged some sucky bronco teams to 3 superbowls in the 80's, won 2 superbowls...marino had a great offensive line and the marks brothers...elway had no offensive line, no running game, and no pro bowl receivers, yet went to 3 super bowls in the 80's...marino, going out a 62-7 LOSER to Jacksonville in his final game!!! hahaha

The only reason why the other qb greats won super bowls was because half the player on the team were pro bowlers/ hall of famers
Dan only had one person on his team through out all the years and that person was Larry Little who was a gaurd/center and then left after Marinos 3rd year. Dan had no WR that were prow bowlers

In my opinion the greatest guy to ever play qb. I remember being in Canton at his induction into the Hall of Fame and being awed by the record crowd all there to give Dan one last standing ovation. You are missed by the Dolphins fan.

Well Marino was a great QB for sure. But he still would not be ranked higher than QBs like Montana and Elway. The main thing that separates them are rings and Marino whether people like it or not wasnt able to win the big one. Montana of course one of the most winning QBs of all time while Elway was able to have one of the greatest finishes to any career by winning back to back SBs. It is just a shame that Marino didnt get a super bowl ring to be really ranked up with those guys

Elway is good but he is hands down the best drop back pocket passer ever! Go and watch full games of him dismantling the jets or when he screwed the bears out of a perfectt season! Though I like Elway A lot and remeber when he screwed the browns, I"d take Marino over Elway almost all the time! And for biller05, how could you leave out Barry Sanders?!?!

out of the 3 QB's ( Montana,Elway and Marino) Marino was easily the best. and is STILL the best QB ever. i can think of only a few QB's who even got close 2 Marino, those bein Brett Farve,Payton Manning and Bob Griese

Elway was way better...#1 overall pick in '83 draft, stronger arm, better mobility, winningest QB in nfl history, comeback king, 2 super bowl victories, starting QB of 5 super bowl teams, and went out a super bowl mvp in his final game...meanwhile, dan marino ends his career with a BIG DUD as he went out a 62-7 LOSER to the lowly jacksonville jaguars!!! what a way to go out!!!

Marino was probably the best pure passer ever- maybe not the best QB. But Bill Walsh allegedly said the following: "Joe Montana was a product of a system. Dan Marino WAS a system."
But Marino could run like Young for example, so that's the one thing he was lacking.

There's no true "best player ever" in football...it's all according to what position you play.
As far as the most dominating players go though, Jerry Rice, Jim Brown, Walter Payton, Dick Butkus, Joe Montana, and Bart Star would all have to be up there in that category.

Dan is the bestqb ever! All the stats! No super bowl though because the nfc was DOMINANT for a long time there ( for you kids too young to remember that) The best qb at that time was Montana and the only reason he won so many super bowls ( and young after him) Is because that was an all star team top to bottom! Give me Marino over any QB past or present! If you don't believe he was the best, ask Jets fans about the "clock play"!

completely wrong...Elway was far superior to Marino from start to finish...drafted higher than marino, won more games as a starting QB, dragged some sucky bronco teams to 3 superbowls in the 80's, won 2 superbowls...marino had a great offensive line and the marks brothers...elway had no offensive line, no running game, and no pro bowl receivers, yet went to 3 super bowls in the 80's...marino, going out a 62-7 LOSER to Jacksonville in his final game!!! hahaha
